I used to watch this but cable TV went from $20 on top of my internet to $80 and then I canceled my basic (bottom tier TV package). Canada has failed it's TV viewers by allowing insane media costs to exceed their other combined utilities where TV packages can get over $200. Shameful.

That test is for sharpness. If you've ever cooked before, a dull blade can still cut but not cleanly and you need to apply more force. As you've seen, they penetrate but the following cut can only rip and not slice the cloth. A sharp blade will tear through it like butter.

@Rajesh Arora source?
@yamiyomizuki
2 жыл бұрын
@Rajesh Arora I wouldn't consider that a source since, I can't verify it and besides I have no reason to assume that you know what you are talking about. making 2 entire swords in a day isn't plausible unless you are simply grinding and heat treating bar stock and putting on a handle and fittings thar are being made with fairly similar degrees of effort. forging takes time, heat treating takes time, grinding and polishing take time and that's just for making a blade.
@yamiyomizuki
2 жыл бұрын
@Rajesh Arora you have seen someone take a raw lump of steel like they hade in the old days, hammer it to shape by hand like they had to, then finish it with a hand file or maybe a peddle powered wheel, and harden and temper it, which by the way takes hours, and do the forging and grinding for the fittings and carve and sand a handle, all without modern tools, and then do all twice in a day? I highly doubt it. you may very well have seen someone cut and heat treat a blade from bar stock in a short time, you might even have seen someone hammer and grind a blade from a leaf spring in that time, but that isn't really forging like it was done historically. as an example, making a katana in the traditional way, or as traditionally as anyone still does, since many now use power hammers, is a process that takes months from start to finish.

CDMaccles big armies didn’t fight with swords for the most part, common soldiers got spears / pole weapons because they were cheap (and easier to use) and only got very basic armor, a helmet and chainmail shirt at best. Swords (beyond common shortswords) were mainly owned by wealthy (upper class) people who could afford well-made pieces, and swords were one of the most preeminent status symbols in medieval times. A suit of plate armor cost more than a nice house in medieval europe and took 6 months to a year to make, and there were still plenty of people with armor.
Everet has to be one of the only finale forgers to say that they would rather go with effective straight steel over a risky Damascus.

Cutting through a skull would without bending would be something historical swords would be expected to do.
There was inconsistency in the kill test, he hit the skull with the first one which is a lot more bone than the neck of the second one. That’s what caused the bend. I don’t know if that would have effected the results though.
The armour bites back by shedding.
