    1) Ford is the only American car company to race in world Rally and Win. 2) Ford is the only American car company to race in F1 and win. 3) Ford is the last American car company of the original big 3. GM is mostly Chinese owned now, and Chrysler is now owned by Stalantis, witch is a merger of FIAT/Chrysler and the PSA group. And Ford has the #1 selling vehicle in the US in the F150. Ford really deserved this win, and I'm so glad they pulled it off. Its because of international wins like this, that I'm a big Ford fan. Thanks.

    1) Sierra was a British chassis with a Cosworth engine (British) 2) The DFV is a Cosworth (British) engine - designed by British blokes. All the F1 teams bought that engine and slapped it on their cars. 3) Doesn't really say anything... Brits backed by American industrialists - a tale as old as WWII.

@@Garf2O It's not only that. When you want to succeed in a global market, you have to take into account how the world lives. Most of the world lives in crowded cities with small to tiny roads. Especially in the centre. And that's logical. Most of the cities are founded at least 2000 years ago. And most have a medieval centre. So people can't use those gigantic cars that the USA has to offer. Cause they're simply too large to fit on the streets. This is true as well in Europe as in Asia. American cars may be excellent for the American market, but they're just too big for the world market.

You cannot over-state this phenomenal achievement of Ford. The classic Ford GT 40 already nailed Ferrari 50 years ago and turned into one of the most iconic sportscars, but the new Ford GT is even better - and nailed Ferrari again, winning Le Mans again. While in Australian V8 racing I am normally a die-hard Holden man I wholeheartedly and sincerely congratulate the Ford Motor Company for this monumental win. Well done guys - even your toughest enemies must be proud of you, and winning Le Mans is such an achievement (and good ole Enzo is probably rotating in his casket... ;-)

I don't care what anyone thinks about Ford but this is exactly why they are still one of the best car makers in the world They took on a tough job in developing the Ford GT to go racing at one of the toughest 24hour races and won in its first year of racing at Lemans with a new car Now that takes sheer determination to achieve that Expectations were definitely high especially as 2016 was the 50th anniversary of the original GT40 coming in 1,2and 3rd places outright OK it was a class and not outright win but a win is a win especially at Lemans

I don’t think anyone under 55 years of age understands how exciting and important sportcar racing was in the late 60s early 70s. I was 3 years old when I watched Ford celebrate he GT40 mk4 win at Le Mans in 1967 on TV, I only remember this so clearly because it was on my birthday and I was laughing at the man spilling a fizzy drink all over the winning car. Many years later I learned that this weird fun thing started the champagne ceremony in nearly all categories of motorsport.

'66 hits me especially. I've always loved cars, loved going fast. I shouldn't say this, but it's long past the statue of limitations: a number of years back I traveled 115mi in 43 min on a one liter Kawasaki. I ran the tank dry unfortunately! I was born in '66, and I've literally prayed and asked God for a racetrack in Heaven. I know what I'm talking about... I'll be there.

Thank God for Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles. Nothing more need be said.

You mean Ford won (again) and they did it without a warmed over pushrod engine with a non adjustable valve train??? Wow, I thought the only high performance engine in the world was a junkyard LS with a cam swap. Guess I was dead ass wrong.

sometime...... when someone can't see the right direction in a painful path anymore, surrender is not the option. start digging again from the root and learning from the oldest at down below . Racing is not about winning the crown at that time . i believe that in Akio racing experience, winning back his passion(more special driving with his master) and 'Codding carbon' back Mr toyoda visionary origin is the ultimate achievement. No one of is company member can't understand him at that time.they would dare to give 'something' for their own VP need( oh yeah it's a secret team right?) . At least send him a (secret) van full of racing 'nerf' inside, and showed some respect. Can't imagine how Akio get through his destiny and bring back the glory and spirit for his great Mr. Toyoda legacy

My dad and brothers and a lot of other family members are ford fans and own a Ford one of my brothers was lucky enough to by a F6 in prestine condition and has over 700hp out of his straight 6 turbo can get more out of it easily, I love it but would like the v8 gtp or a xc cobra coupe 5.8L, or xbgt351 coupe or sedan only dreams very expensive and hard to get.

Holman Moody should have been involved along with Shelby American. IMHO

Holman Moody fielded the Gold GT40. Lee Holman and Carroll Shelby were always talking to each other behind the scenes.

Interesting that, going by Ganassi's criteria for selecting drivers, Ken Miles probably wouldn't even have gotten an interview.
