I've used You tube for a lot of repairs, I've changed the manifold on our mountaineer w you tube. I thought the spark plug replacement on my 06 zephyr would be too much, got two ridiculous quotes, I can do this. Folks, thank you so much. You are good people and you are a great trainer. Thank you Thank you One suggestion, if you are going to do this, maybe consider going ahead and changing out those back coil packs, if the car has over 100K...... God bless you good people...

Completed this on my Zephyr today, this vid did made it is. Thank you again..... Had two quotes, one replacing the coils on the back cylinders (according to the mechanic, might as well change them out while we have the plenum off) 650.00. Another just changing the plugs, 250.00. This cost me 45.00. Do the math... Bought a 90 degree set of pliers, that really helped. Again, THANK YOU..

Chevy is consistent and they find something that works and they produce the hell out of it and people love it. They tend to produce a quality product when they have the finances to do so and the market is appropriate for moving a quality product. Chrysler sells on flash and numbers. You can have a Chrysler that is gorgeous and geometrically poetic in weight distribution and the top #'s in class for torque and HP, but come in last place in a real world test and depreciate fast due to failures.

I do have to say that doing tune up is piece of cake on corresponding J-series Honda V6 engine. Apart from taking off beauty covers (less 30 seconds), nothing else needs to come off to access coil and plugs. On the other hand, if you need to do EGR passageway cleanup and take off the intake plenum on that Honda, it is more work but still little easier than this job.

They say that because people inevitably use way to much and then over torque due to the lubrication and strip the head out or do other damage. The irony in that to me is the damage and stripped heads that are as likely to happen from NOT using it. I've used it for decades incident free and I find my customers won't go anywhere else so I wind up doing myself and them a favor by using it.

The philosophy with Ford is to make a car affordable and try to add all the bells and whistles you possible can without increasing it's cost above what a company budgets for a fleet vehicle or a low to mid income home can afford. Adding complexity without the budget for doing it right has some pretty obvious outcomes. I've seen Ford Explorer Limited editions with more than 80 buttons within reach of the drivers seat. Even the visor had buttons all over it.

Remember that most of the engine parts are not made by Ford. Most are made by OEM's like Valeo, who make the same parts for so many other manufacturers. That air inlet filter is almost the same part on my VW, just different enough so that you cannot interchange them. When I was driving a Ford the cheapest place to buy wiper blades and the best value was at VW agents, twice the quality and half the price.
