I have a 2012 fusion SEL 2.5 ...100k miles on it, my car is a absolute tank, I just love my car and all the upgrades that can be done, the leather seats, sun roof, hot seats, the sony system that came with the car plus many more..makes this car the favorite car I ever had so far. Just take good care of it and it will last for a long time.

2010 fusion Atlantis Green, 75k and no major issues. Oil change every 6 mo. Trans fluid change every 30k… spark plugs changed at 72k. I loved this car the first day I bought it new, still loving it 12+ years later. build date Nov 2009… purchase date 1/1/2010. condition near pristine. The only complaint I have … 4 battery’s … original + 3 Motorcraft. There is no doubt a parasitic drain or a weak charging alternator that is sucking the life out of the battery. I have invested in a battery tender… seems to keep the battery fully charged now. This car owes me nothing and it has been a very reliable car to me…..

No one else has had their power steering rack go out? Replacing that was a massive pain and btw the failing power steering rack is the $800 electric one, not the cheap hydraulic lol

Exactly!!! If you want to keep the new one from going bad, Keep away from flooded roads. Once water get in, it corrodes everything inside.

Just had mine replaced a month ago. Went out twice tho bc the shop didn’t flash the new parts . Now it’s working great again for the most part.

I've had my 2011 3.5L V6 sport awd fusion since about August 2019 and it's treated me pretty well apart from the fuel injector needing to be replaced twice now, but nothing major apart from that. I can't blame anyone besides myself for the transmission going back simply due to negligence and not knowing that most oil places don't check trans fluid. So yeah. Warranty saving my life out here. Love that Fusion lol.

Never had an issue with my 2010 Fusion Hybrid at 190K miles. The hybrid has a solid Aisin transmission too. My only complaint is the small rust spots that develop on all of these cars, just below the rear doors on the rocker panel. Otherwise, it's just been fluid/tire changes for me. I hadn't ever heard of power steering issues. The only other minor issue I know of is the throttle body failures many seem to have.

I bought a hybrid 2010 fusion with just about 110k miles 4 years ago i has 184k now never really had a issue till now I notice when I drive longer then 40 mins I get a yellow wrench light on the dash with out a check engine light soon as I get home and turn the car off it does away any ideas what it can be ?

I have a 2010 Ford fusion SE the rack opinion needs to be replaced so no power steering the guy sold the car to me for $650 I still drive it with out power steering I put a lot of money into it . I'm not for sure if I'll fix the power steering or just get rid of it but it is getting up in miles .

I have a 2011 Ford Fusion SE V4 with 250k KM, only thing that failed recently (knocks on wood) was the rear left caliper, which had to replaced, but the part was relatively cheap ($130-ish Canadian). Other than that, I've just done general maintenance: oil, trans fluid, spark plugs, engine coolant, brakes, etc. Hope it lasts another 250k KM lmao

2010 Sport owner. Love my car and have done many mods. It’s my daily, but I don’t drive many miles per year. I just fell victim to the water pump at 80k miles. Costly repair ($1,500), but that’s the only thing that I’ve had to get fixed in 12 years of ownership. Still love it. Sporty, quick family car that still looks good today IMO.

My 2010 fusion se has 296k miles and still runs like brand new

I have a 2010 ford fusion SE with 88,900 miles.

I own a 2009 model and it is amazing. Has 180,000 miles and the only trouble has been and a/c temp sensor ($29) and a fuel pump relay. Starts every time and gets very good mpg. The transmission even has a drain plug which makes fluid changes a cinch. Also, there is a transmission dipstick. Wish those were back on vehicles again!

The $29 ac temp sensor I think that’s what’s wrong with mine but it’s a $1000 repair to take off dash How did you fix

I have a 2010 SE and the transmission definitely shifts hard and the car even bucks when shifting sometimes. Transmission issues plague fusions. My ABS and Advancetrac and traction control is always going off. It's been giving issue after issue since we bought the car. Currently has almost 160k on it.

I have the exact same car (2010 Fusion SE). Exact same problems. Took it to shop after shop, even replaced my first transmission, and the transmission I have now is no better, still lacks acceleration power & shifts hard. I really need answers because outside of the unsmooth acceleration I love my car, but if this persists, I’ll be sure to get rid of it. Anyone with any suggestions??

@@alerrisd Our 2010 sel 2.5 had some power and hard shifting issues. I replaced the throttle body and cleared the adaptive shifting table. This made a huge difference. It's still a 2.5 so it's no speed demon but it shifts smoothly and has an acceptable amount of power now. The tb was only $100 from ford and is a very simple diy. There are a few videos on youtube about clearing the shifting table though if you already have a new trans that has likely been done already. Still, guess it wouldn't hurt to make sure.

Best car I had was 2010 fusion hybrid with over 330,000 miles. Only major issue was power steering rack. But you can get them used at auto wreckers for $250.

How many miles can hybrid battery lasts

these things are absolutely tanks, i have a 2.5 150k miles , 2 accidents and 13 years with the only expensive repair being a steering rack. no leaks or issues

My wife has a 2010 fusion sel 2.5 that she bought for 5k with 84k a couple years back and she loves it. We bought it used so there were some things that needed addressing but nothing unusual for a used car - replaced an engine mount, valve cover gasket, plugs and throttle body. The TB replacement made a huge difference in performance - at least in our case. Seemed to fix some hard shifting issues we had with it prior to the replacement. Runs and drives like a champ. There are a few little things that have been annoying however. Had to replace the driver side seat switch that stopped going forward, had to fix the center dash console lid which snapped off the hinge on one side, the driver side heated seat doesn't work, etc. Again, these things happen with a used car so it is what it is. The only only manufacturing issue I have with the car is the paint on the HVAC buttons wearing out - looks horrible and there doesn't seem to be a solid fix outside of repainting it or using vinyl stickers.

@@jamaicankolourz I want to say it was right around $100 from the dealer. I also did a reset of the PCM at the same time. I believe it was a combination of the two. Hope that helps.

I have the 2006 2.3 and 2012 2.5, both over 100k miles, and they are awesome. No major issues. In originally purchased the 2006 2.3, SEL fully loaded, used for long work commutes. Well it was love at first drive, I loved it so much, I bought the 2012 with the similar 2.5. Thought about getting the 2016, but don't like the engine options, so I'll stick with my 2012 for as long as possible.

I have a 2010 Fusion SE with just over 100k miles on it, only issue I've had was the water pump going out, after I replaced that it's been great since.

I have a black 2011 SE This is the best car I've ever bought. I bought it for 900$ 86,000mi and had it for 3 years and I haven't had to change anything major just breaks, a belt that a rock popped in, reg. Oil changes, normal maintenance and a couple light bulbs and now about to get a tune up.. I've traveled to 3 states and traveled statewide. Hands down best ever. This car is perfect, I just wish it was a standard shift not automatic but it's still my baby ❤ I love it

The worst Ford Fusion are the ones with the Eco Boost engines, the 2.5 is bullet proof.

My 2011 SE has also reached 250k. I will say the power steering went was about 1k. About 2.3k to redo all the suspension (all control arms + several other parts) it was balding tires instantly. Not only did that fix my tire issue but also added some overall power to the car going uphill. The belt has fallen off or shredded itself around 6 times over my 3 year experience. A wheel bearing or 2. Cruise control will destroy the transmission and engine if I use it. I very narrowly escaped a new transmission by replacing throttle body and 02 sensor upstream. Rocker panels rusted into foot long holes at the back. I use chicken wire+ fiber glass body filler to fill those gaps, and I replace those yearly. Door handles break once every 8 months or so. Replacing those is easy. Heading for 300k hopefully. I’d say for this winter I’m going into it looking at an abs issue that messes with my brakes when the car first starts for around 10 minutes. Would not be surprised with a battery replacement as I’ve gone through about 3 in 3.5 years. Belt has not fallen off in almost a year so the chance of temp change will watch for that. Snow and ice has messed the suspension and alignment before so I’ll see how the new suspension fairs.

2.5 is a beast No idea what this guy is talking about obviously did a one stop shopping for the information. Making half informative videos. Just read the comments from people that owns one.

Not every car will have these issues. Going into a purchase blind is silly. The transmission issue is a real issue, look through the comments. With a simple search I can find multiple fusions with trans issues. Combined with forums and actual owners saying the same thing. That says a lot. Once again, I did not say every Fusion will have these issues.

They love their cars which doesn't make the caption of your video appear to hold water. I had several that I personally owned. If your info was more true than not. @@mistermister1006 even a 5% ratio of people agreeing with issues makes it a common issue. I’ve had a lot of people talking about their trans going out and having to replace them. Then, that transmission went out. Same with the power steering issue. If there is a trend of issues, why should we completely ignore them and act like the car has zero flaws? People going into a purchase with zero a knowledge of potential issues and not knowing what to look for, like harsh shifts, can really harm someone savings.

I have a 2010 FF SE, just turned over 150k miles. Never a problem. It’s a great car and the smoothest running and riding car. Love my Fusion I’ve also heard from several auto guys that has said the 1st generation FF is the BEST used car you can get- if anything needs to be replaced it’s easy and affordable.

I bought and currently drive a 2010 Sport. I've put 30k miles on it over 3 years and the only major fix I've had done is the power steering. However it was not 2 grand to fix. My local shop was able to fix it for only $800. I am worried about the fuel pump, so here is to hoping I can pay the car off completely before having to deal with that 🤞

Mix Marvel Mystery Oil with fuel, 4oz to 10 gal. it will lubricate your fuel pump.

Bought a 2012 SEL, loaded with most options. It is FWD and came with the factory 18" wheels. It has 184,000 miles on it and it runs quiet and smooth. I am used to SUVs and getting into a car again reminded me how much better they drive, and the whole feel of actually driving down the road instead of riding down the road. It has a kick ass 12 speaker music system as well as led lighting all over the cabin. The leather heated seats are in great shape even with all this mileage , sunroof, decent space inside, and good power. It needed two tires, rear brakes and I repaired some rust in the quarters. This is a great car to own. Look around for a low price and don't be afraid of 100,000 or 150,000 miles. Maintain your vehicle and don't run the shit out of it. Will simply replace parts as needed. I stopped buying new vehicles and enjoy looking around for good bargains. This Fusion isn't the best used car but it sure is not among the worst. If it ever does have a major issue, engine or transmission then I will probably buy another one. From what I have seen, they go from 3000 to 12,000 dollars depending on location, mileage, model and condition. Buy the less expense ones if money is tight. I recommend this car. Drive on.....

Pretty spot on my friend. I’ve been driving a Tahoe and an Astro Van. You are 100% right about riding on the road versus actually feeling the car. I was tempted to grab a $1200 2010 with a bad transmission and swapping it out. Others for the same mileage and condition were selling for 6k.

I got a 2012 sport with the 3.0 with 183,000mi and other than the a/c unit in the dash I haven’t really had any problems. If you just take care of them they can be absolutely great cars

I have owned four of the 2010 to 2012 fusions and I can tell you with 100% certainty, power staring is an issue . that can be replaced by yourself in your own driveway in about 2 hours I know for a fact I've done it myself and it cost me less than $200. the dealer will rip you off every single time you walk in the door , this is common knowledge . it's not just because of the 2012 fusion . if you're not smarter than the car you own everything will be expensive.

@@JonathanMayhorn the only signs to tip you off its going out will be when you first start the car your power steering will take about 10 seconds before it'll kick in. When this starts you have about two to three months before it fully quits.

I’m a Chevy guy but got a good deal on a 2010 Fusion at about 40k miles. It now has 250k miles on it with very little trouble. Just turn the key and it goes. I love it. Best car I ever owned. I just bought a 2012 fusion 51k miles for my wife. That’s how much I love it

I’ve had my 2012 SEL for 8 years, it only had 10k when I bought it. 90k miles and counting. Bluetooth goes in and out and but it’s comfortable and still shines like new. No major mechanical issues other than maintenance.

Have a 2012 SEL. Love this car. No major problems. Just change the oil regularly. Really nice option car. Leather interior, power everything and a moon roof. She going on 150,000 miles. think she'll be good for another 100k. Only thing I did have to replace was the blower motor for the AC. That was about an hour job.

I have a 2012 fusion SE purchased in 2011 and is over 12 years old. Has never broke down and only in shop for routine maintenance. Yes the 2.5 engine is gutless and transmission and steering are noted problem areas but so far its been a very good reliable car with decent mpg.

I can agree my ford fusion is a tank bought it used in 2020 with 132k and now it’s at 182k and regular maintenance has worked but now I have a water pump fix

I have a 2011 Fusion S. It did have a bad transmission, I believe the previous owner failed to monitor the gear oil over the nearly ten years she owned it. I put a used one in myself, but due to a lack of proper equipment, it experienced faults. I rebuilt another transmission, replaced the clutch kit (again), replaced the flywheel, and installed it. The car is now working better than ever. A very minor refrigerant leak has been discovered in the evaporator core so I am pulling the dash out to replace it. I have also upgraded the brake pads and rotors and added a bumper cover with fog lights. The logic circuit to run them is in the smart junction box so only the wiring needed to be added. I typically average 28-30mpg with mostly highway driving and have over 205,000 miles on the car. It was around 136,000ish when I bought it. My biggest concern is the clear coat is failing all over the top of the car --hood, roof, pillars, finders. No issues with the power steering yet, but it may have been replaced before I acquired the car.

So whats your guy's think on 2006 Ford fusion? And the only reason why I'm asking is because I think I might get one. Please let me know. It's got around 140k on the motor and body. Thanks

I have a 2012 SE, I have had it sense 2015. The power steering went out, the dealership tried to rip me off in Kingman, AZ .. thank goodness we had an extended warranty. The car has been great, low maintenance, love the comfort and body style. One bad flaw is the vents, the plastic broke, to turn the vents (AC) other than that. Love my car

We have a 2010 SEL with 2.5 now coming up to 200,000 kms. Great car, good on fuel which makes it a great vehicle for road trips.

I have a 2012 Fusion SEL with the 3.0 flexfuel V6, Sunroof, Leather seats with heat, Premium 13 speaker sound, Rear Camera, blind spot detection, backup detection. I bought my Fusion in 2014 with 24000 miles on it and during the purchase I had a after market warranty added(4yr/48000 miles). I have owned it now for 9 years and have put 134000 miles on it since then. To date the only non maintenance items I have had to replace are the Rack and Pinion at $2300(performed by my local dealer), Motor Mount($0 covered by after market warranty) Passenger Side CV Axle($265), AC Condenser($0, covered by after market warranty), Throttle Body($0, covered by after market warranty), Keyless Entry(the keypad outside the door quit working)($0, covered by Ford warranty). I need to replace the struts now at nearly 160K miles, I will do this myself as the struts are $350 for all 4. The fusion has been a great car for me for the past 9 years.

2010 Fusion Hybrid was the Motor Trend car of the year. CVT transmission was built for ford & Toyota. I’ve owned 12 of the 2010-2012 Hybrids. Main issue with Fords is the Mercon LV transmission fluid. Needs changed at 60k. Then every 30k. You can change it in your driveway like an oil change. Fill is on the side by fender well. Just need a $10 pump to fill. Best cars I’ve ever owned.

@@boci11 the Mercon LV doesn’t seem to last to 125k like the manual indicates. Many mechanics who are replacing Ford transmissions have posted about this on KZread.

WHAT ABOUT THE 2007??

I have to say I have a 2011 Ford fusion with 199987 miles on it the engine and transmission is solid the car has only stop running twice in all these years both times the fuel pump. I started having problems when I have hit 100000 miles. Rack and pinion 3 of them Ford replace them due to a recall and just ball joints tie rod and shocks and struts. I replace every part on both side at the same time with motor craft parts. After a few months they just don't hold up like the car has the original parts from the factory when I first brought the car. I have been chasing a knocking sound on the passenger side for over three years. It does not take away from anything driving the car but it just gets to me. I had three different Ford dealers look at it and a few other shops. No one can find the noise that is the reason I just overhauled the whole front end. I never flushed the transmission fluid brake fluid or coolant just top it off like the do at these shops. I think in my opinion it's a scam to fluss it out because why do the offer or recommend to top it off if it needs to be changed 😂 over all I will just drive my baby

FYI, I have a 2010 fusion that has 390,000. The only thing I do is put tires on it. Putting a new set on it tomorrow 😅

Knocking on wood, but my '11 Fusion Hybrid has been running better than I expected (minus a couple wheel bearing replacements). I admit I have a lead foot when I drive, but I keep up on all preventative maintenance so I can keep driving my car until body panels shake apart or the engine seizes. The Fusion is not the best looking out of any sedan nor the most reliable in the world, but my car is a damn tank when I abuse it on the Texas backroads. Heated leather seats, multi-color ambient lighting, and stock navigation infotainment are the creme de la creme of the 2nd gen Fusions.

Preventative maintenance is a huge deal. Drive it, but keep in mind about the trans. Perhaps just save for a replacement just to be safe. I actually really like the look of these cars.

Hey yo your thoroughly, well made Fusion video found me....huh algorithms. My lady's been driving our 06 Mercury Milan SE Premier with the 2.3 ltr at 63K miles for 6 years now. This year model has been ridiculously dependable with very minimal repair costs. It has remained a clean machine inside and out. 2006 was the very first year of the Ford Fusion. Shame things just went down hill fast for this platform

We have a 2010 Fusion Hybrid w/ 130K. Besides tires, brakes, oil and 1 battery, the only repair has been the two front wheel bearings.

I got a 2012 Ford Fusion SEL V6 3.0 L for the most part it's been really reliable for me besides for the Cosmetic issues that it has like the peeling paint I do not like that or the bit of rust that has popped up on the back but I bought it like that including the paint peeling now I didn't pay too much for my vehicle and it had about 200,000 some miles the only issue with mine is it makes a noise at the front left and the mechanic told me that there's nothing wrong with it so that's one flaw with my vehicle that I do not like other than that before that noise it was very reliable but in the winter time it definitely sounds different I don't know why but when you start it during cold weather it sounds like a truck to me 🤷 until it warms up

I gotta say, I completely disagree. I picked up a 2010 Fusion Sport, with the 3.5 L V6 and AWD that had 77K original miles, and it's been nothing short of phenomenal. She's all stock, and she'll do triple digits no problem, I've put thousands of miles on her since I picked her up in August of 2022, and she's been a total work horse. She's beautiful blue with black and blue leather interior, and she's been the most reliable vehicle I've owned. I had 1 issue with a check engine light, because of a tiny EVAP leak caused by the fuel door not fully closing after some small debris kept it clogged open, a can of pressurized air, and cleaning it out and haven't had it since. 9/10 car

I have a 2011 sport. Bought it in 2013 with 60k. No problems just doing regular maintenance. In 2022 with 170k miles, the water pump went out, because it is timing chain driven, and not enough room to work on, the motor has to come out. I took it to a local shop and paid $3700, the dealer wanted 5k. In 2023 the fly wheel cracked, that was a $1500 fix. I have heard by other mechanics if you want to avoid the problem with the water pump, it is better to replace your oil every 3k miles with synthetic oil and flush coolant every 20k miles, this way the seals on the water pump last longer and no issues with the pump. I drove this car for almost 10 years before my pump went out. I think the engine is reliable but the engineering of it is stupid. Now i have 190k on the car. Hopefully, it can go for another long run.

we have a 2009 ford fusion SEL, its a 3.0L that's automatic. it has 231K kms on the odometer, n so far just changed the oil. its fully loaded with a sunroof n cloth material. roughly around 700 kms when I fill it up. then I keep the anti-sway off. its a comfortable car to drive. for a mid size sedan, it handles all weather like a champ. for the age, its basically a brand new car. the shifting is kinda rough while driving slow. except when you get up to highway speed in Alberta, you wouldn't even know the transition form 100/hr to 130/hr. to me its more reliable then a brand new car. its a sedan designed for office employees to a family of 2 (mom/dad/2 children) the parts for generic parts is cheap on the low end. it's now a race car. so you can't drive off the line top speed. except when you're causing, this car will handle it "very well" to be honest, after a year of driving this car, I'm surprised. it drives better then the 2017 vw Jetta TSI, 2017 gmc Sierra Z71 n the 2017 ford F250. this car by all means, is nothing fancy. its fully loaded with cloth n very basic that you don't have any extra built in computers, to me its this car is the equivalent to a 1992 ford tempo. "its a car" you drive it from point A-B proper maintenance "call it a day" im never buying a brand new car. this car to me is basically a car that represents very well. its not a car that the cops will pull you over. its a car to get you where you want to go safely. I honestly cannot say enough about how great this car really is. to be true, I could very well go on about how great this car is.. for a fun fact, let me know if you would like to see a video. id more then love to show you how great this car really is with an in-depth angle. have a great night. be safe.

2011 fusion with 290k miles. 2 serpentine belt swaps, front struts are awful, regular maintenance and One front bumper crash but still going strong 💪

The CHECK FUEL FILL INLET alert is the only downside imo

I have a 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid at about 58,000 miles the electronic steering assist went out. The dealership would not fix through the warranty because the time limit on the warranty had expired. After some research I found that this steering problem was common. I had read that Ford had a recall on the faulty steering problem. When I asked the dealership about it they said that the recall did not include my particular model. I was charged $2,267.16 for the replacement. I was told by the dealership to keep my receipt in case Ford decided to include my model. If anyone out there knows other information on this please do reply so far I have tried to get ahold of information from the Ford motor company and NTSB with information but just seem to get the run around.

I wonder why Ford didn't include the Hybrid model with these issues... They did the same thing with the throttle body. They wouldn't warranty the hybrid throttle body issue that affects all fusions (and actually a lot of other Ford models ) although it was the same as the other models. Luckily for that, it's a cheap and very easy fix for a do-it-yourselfer.

Wrong. The problem is with the electric PS. The 3.5 L Sport is the only 2010 2:40 with hydraulic PS. The water pump issue can be a problem and wise to change coolant. I own one .

I'm so glad I got my 2010 fusion hybrid when I did in 2020, and chose it over a 2011 fusion sport. I got such a phenomenal deal on my car, and it's been probably the best car I've ever owned. 2010 fusion hybrid with 89K miles and every single option, incl DVD, nav, heated leather seats, sunroof, premium sound, etc. I see people buying the same car now with 120k-150K miles for $5k-7k, it's crazy I only paid $4k over 3yrs ago with just 89k miles on it. Best deal of my life for sure! It's a great car for a daily driver and I'm still getting 31-34mpg even with 140k miles on it now

That’s freakin awesome. Wish I had looked into these 3 years ago. I got a 2011 hybrid no fancy features or leather seats for $6k . I wanted the upgraded features also but thats like $9k+ . For the 32-40mpg I can’t complain . My Old car was at 17mpg.

I got a 2011 Fusion SE at 75k miles the week before March 2020. I haven't had any big issues so far.

I picked up a well used but not abused 2010 hybrid with about 220k on it for 3 grand 3 years ago. Now i just had my first problem with it, a fuel injector went bad so i replaced ir myself. Part was $29 after shipping and runs like when i got it. Now i have just shy of 252k. Best car ive ever owned

The 2010 Sport is the better 3.5. The 2011 and up 3.5s had a variable cam update that was to make them more fuel efficient but that caused them to have more issues. 2007 to 2010 3.5s were the more reliable ones. I own a 2010 SPORT was bought brand new by my Dad and I still have the car. It's the rarer version and mine is showroom condition and never sees winter weather ever! Absolutely love mine.

First of all the 3.5 debuted in the 2010 model year and where did you get this information about a variable cam update? In 2011 the only changes were minor safety features and also the fuel economy numbers from 2010-2012 were identical.

@@Adrenadriven7 the 3.5 I have is the original one that debuted in 2007 in other Ford vehicles. 2011 did have an update in fuel economy which made it little better but the newer ones were more prone to failure cause of something that was changed on them. I read this on forums and on Wikipedia on the engine. Mine is the best Year Fusion SPORT to have as its the original before Ford started cutting the quality/ options on them as they were more pricey less produced versions that people didn't buy often. Just saying.

@@mattmaverick703id like to see something other than Wikipedia and Radom people on a forum saying that 2011-2012 is some how less reliable than 2010. Just saying. There’s plenty 2011 that are running 200,000 miles + now if you talked to someone at Ford who made these cars and has experience with the engines then that would be one thing. I know several people in fords that have worked there long before these fusion were made and they have nothing to say about the 2011-2012 being somehow different than 2010.

2010 2.5L/Auto with 201xxx kms on dash, no PS issue, no harsh 2-3 shift, still making factory compression on all 4 cylinders. These cars have bad drainage on the rocker panels leading them to rot out early in the rear arches. The centre diffs on the AWD are known to cook with exhaust heat and their “lifetime” fluid. Trans cooler lines are essentially made of glass so they tend to rot and swell internally the time. The subframes on V6 models will rot out on the rear passenger side due to exhaust heat/salt wear and bad drainage as well. License plate light housings also like to fail early, and the trunk locks if not maintained. That’s just my $0.10 on owning these vehicles, these issues transfer over to any of the face swap cars including Milan’s, Zephyrs, Mazda 6 and speed 6 platforms as well. These issues can be prevented too if you catch them early on, and the 4cyl models are dead simple to work on. Parts are readily available at any junkyard. Excellent video!👍🏼

I have Fusion sister, a 2010 Mercury Milan. Had to change water pump and steering pinion. the rack (EPS) was about 700 and a PITA to change.

2.5 is one of the best engines you can get in a ford vehicle

Power steering is the only issue I've had. Owned my 2011 since 2012 and am still using it at 140k miles. Just learned to drive it without power steering lol since the dealership wants $2800 to fix it and the car is only worth 3-5k 🤷. Just my daily driver that goes to and from work so I'm not to worried about it. I'll fix it myself down the road, just a pain that you still have to bring it into the dealership to get it programed even after you install the rack.

Yeah I just and mine replaced for 1600$ after leaving the shop about a week later it went out again, called the shop and they never even flashed it! So I had to pay another 160$ to ford . It’s back to normal now thank god

Highly disagree, we own a 2010 Hybrid, it isn't the best to work on, and has a few issues like any modern ford, but especially considering it survived a crash, it's reliable, coming on 200,000 miles, barely has any issues and just a little bit of rust, which is impressive when you consider we stored it outside in the minnesotan winter for a few years- it's a solid car. we've only had to replace the power steering (which honestly is a pretty minor issue, it's a small car. we drove it without it for months and you can pretty easily repair it yourself to avoid high repair costs) the 2.5L is actually a tank for a modern engine, the car is super comfortable with some decent leather, a fantastic sony sound system and pretty much any luxury feature you could want, it handles well, and once it gets going it actually has some hutzpah to it. Not the flashiest or most impressive car ever, but its a practical, reliable sedan that does exactly what it needs to pretty well, especially considering the relatively low price we got it for (around 20,000). and it doesn't even look to bad, it's like a small crown vic.

2010 Ford Fusion Sport 3.5V6 Car died on me a couple times , thinking idle issue cause I’m not getting battery or electrical codes

I have a 2010 fusion sport, have never had issues with it at 150k miles, but recently started feeling like transmission been jerking a lil when i get on highway or accelerate hard, but if im crusing in city and just take my time i feel nothing, dont know if it might be a transmission mount ot transmission its self, i am planning to do a transmission oil flush, checkes oil in is like pinkish with a lil brownish color so im guessing its time to change oil

I had a 2011 hybrid verion a fee years ago. Loved that car. Paid it off in a year and I hit a dear after the last payment. Boy that car didn't handle it well. Was only going about 35 when i hit and the car was totalled.

My 2011 SEL has been good to me. I did have to replace the driver side axle bushing in the transmission which is a known issue in these cars.

I have a 2011 Ford Fusion Sport, FWD and has the cherry red/black trim interior. Came with the factory NAV screen and Sony stereo system. Had it about 5 years now and have had some issues but not too many. Here's the list lol Rack & Pinion Replaced Last Year $1100 ish -Parts and Labor 2 Blower Motors, Resistors and Wire Harnesses (1st under warranty and other was out of pocket but I replaced myself, around $250 Oil Pressure Sensor (Spits Oil Out) $7 1 Motor Mount $50 Belt tensioner $75 Dash Storage Compartment $95 on eBay 3 of my factory wheels are warped so I ordered new ones (Konig Oversteer 18x8 35 offset) $1000 Hood Wiper Sprayers (Mine Decayed lol) $30 Inner & Outer Tie Rods $??? Passenger Rocker Moulding $500* Both front interior door handles ($35) Front and Back suspension $200+

I have a 2010 Fusion SE. Exact same problems. Took it to shop after shop, even replaced my first transmission, and the transmission I have now is no better, still lacks acceleration power & shifts hard. I really need answers because outside of the unsmooth acceleration I love my car, but if this persists, I’ll be sure to get rid of it. Anyone with any suggestions??

A bit late of a response but if you are still having the same issue look at replacing the throttle body if you haven't already. When we first got our 2010 it was shifting hard and always seeming to wind out during acceleration. After the TB replacement ($100 part from dealer if you do it yourself - very easy DIY) and clearing the shift tables (how-to videos on youtube) it's been running like a champ for over a year now. That said, I don't know what motor you have but ours is a 2.5. This resulted in a noticeable performance improvement and much smoother shifting but it will never be a super peppy speed demon.

The 2010 Ford Fusion Sport 3.5L does NOT have electric power steering. It is the only 2010 Fusion that still used hydraulic power steering. I own one since new, 14 years old this year with only minor issues. (If it does not have the 3.5L it is not the Sport model). With the 3.5 L, also used in other Fords it is important to replace the coolant on a regular basis to avoid a water pump issue.

I have a 2010 SEL with 100k miles on it and the power steering has failed rip but it is the only issue I’ve had with the car in the 4 years I’ve had it

I own a 2011 Ford Fusion SE 2.5 Liter I4, the car never had any problems besides small engine problems, 90K + miles on it, satellite radio works as it should, the car is seemingly faster then a 2011 Chevrolet Impala LT V6 (My Parents car) and overall the 2011 Ford Fusion SE (Inline 4 2.5L) is a very good car.

The worst? I worked at Planet Ford in Houston and I can guarantee y'all the worst is the 1.5 ecoboost fusion in the 2nd generation. The 1.5 generation is the most reliable generation.

I have a 2011 with only 43,000 miles on it. PIECE of JUNK ! ! $2300 US to fix the power window and replace the power steering unit. I got the 4 cyl. p.o. crap

My 2012 SEL was my most favorite car. It saved my life when a drunk driver ran a light and tboned me. Pretty quick with a throttle lag tune

I bought a 2012 Fusion SE Flex Fuel V6 with 87,000 miles for $7,300 out the door back in late summer of 2021. I think it was a good deal. It was a little beat up and rusty on the outside but runs great. I have put only 10,000 miles or so on it since I bought it. Still under 100,000 as of today. Several months ago the power steering went out. The weird thing is that the power steering service light came on while I was driving but still worked fine. I parked and went into an appointment and when I came out I had no power steering at all. Like driving a freight train lol. I have been driving it this way ever since because I have no other choice. My wife cannot drive it unfortunately because it is too hard to turn the wheel. I put extra air in the tires (around 42-45 lbs.) and that seems to make it easier to turn. I will say that it starts up every single time. There is a weird whining noise and I have no idea what it is, maybe the serpentine belt so I am going to change it just in case.

I have only needed to change out the brakes, and also the A/C doesn't work anymore, which is a big problem for me. At least the car runs and drives though. Haven't had any other issues.

The whine is likely the serpentine belt. I’m gonna have to change mine here soon.

2011 SE with 100k miles. These cars are cheap to own and pretty reliable. DO change your AT fluid every 30K, regardless if Ford says is a lifetime fluid. The only other issues I've had are, the door handles and the damned ABS system. 1st to go was the ABS module (Service Advancetrac message). Got a complete low-mile ABS pump and module from the junkyard for $200 and just replaced the electronic module and reprogramed it with ForScan ($50) and flushed the fluid ($20). Dealer wanted $1000+ for the job. That was 3yrs/30k miles ago. Now just over 100K miles, the pedal is getting low even though I have new pads, rotors, fluid. I know is not the master cylinder as the pedal doesnt get higher with pumping. Pretty sure is the ABS pump/valves as it seems it may be leaking and not letting all the pressure reach the calipers. Any corroboration from somebody that went through something similar is appreciated

i have 3.0 2010 and beat the shit out of it. the only thing to be done on it was the fuel pump at 120k.

Is the steering rack the same as on the Mazda 6?

My 2012 Fusion SEL 3.0l runs great no issues at 201k miles on it trying to make it to 500k

If you live in a state with a lot of potholes, the low profile tires on it aren’t for you.

My 2012 had power rack failure at 100k but was covered under dealership warranty for 200 outta pocket other then that cars perfect don't hold up to south dakota salted roads (rockers) but can't do much bout that 148k and never skips beat

I got lucky I have a fully loaded 2011 SEL Had issues, rack and pinion, wheel bearing , ABS , outside of that. Car is top notch. Got it for 3000 80K miles in 2020

I have a 2017, and it's a piece of crap. At 49k miles, I had to have the engine replaced. I had it 10 months at that time. I've had coolant leaks, a blown head gasket, I currently have no heat, even after replacing the thermostat and a coolant sensor. This car has cost me so much money. I've been trying to get my heat working for the last 2 months, and my car has been in the shop 7 times in those 2 months, and goes man in tomorrow morning. Thankfully, I have a mechanic that doesn't charge me if he doesn't get it fixed. I go to a very reputable shop that has been in business for over 30 years, they aren't a shop that you have to worry about intentionally causing damage to get you back in there. My touch screen has been going out since about 3 months after I got the car, and I'm just trying to hold out as long as I can before I have to replace it because the unit alone is 999 bucks, not including labor. That's if I purchase it myself and take it in with the car to have it replaced. I imagine if I let the dealership supply it, it'll be a lot more than that. I'm trying so hard not to give up on this car, but I'm at my wits end. It's currently at 57k miles.... nothing but problem after problem. I may never own another Ford because of this car. And I make sure to let people know about it!

Your heat issue is the door actuator switch. found in the driver side carpartment high up to right of the break pedal. The switch wears out and cant flip from heat to cold. a temp fix is to remove it and turn the gear by hand to open and close the ac/heat door

@eddiddy i appreciate your comment! I finally got the heat figured out a couple months ago. My heater core somehow got a blockage inside, it was still getting hot like it should but the coolant couldn't pass thru. It was causing my brand new engine to overheat within a month of the engine replacement, so I wasn't happy. But it was the heater core. Got that replaced a couple months ago and fortunately, I have not had any more problems since. My car went thru 2 mechanics before I finally surrendered it to the dealership over the heat issue, and it took the dealership 2 weeks working on it a couple hours a day to figure out what was wrong with it. They ended up tearing apart the entire coolant system piece by piece and running coolant thru to figure out where the blockage was at. They told me they've never seen a heater core fail internally like that one did, and they were getting frustrated trying to figure out where the problem was at. They had assumed the heater core wasn't the problem because from the outside, it appeared to be working. The first two mechanics also both said the heater core was good. It cost me almost 2k dollars, but I got it fixed! After a solid year of mechanical issues, it's finally running right.

Do all the models of that gen have the power steering problem cause I like that body style

I own a 2011 fusion SEL that has the 4 cylinder engine, and it’s going onto 200,000 miles with no major problems since I’ve owned it. It’s pretty nice, and it’s been very reliable!

Mine is well past 200k also (2011) , these cars will go if you give them the chance. Seeing so many on the road now.

I bought a 2010 off marcketplace with a broaken power stearing rack. Had an independant shop replace it for $800

in watching this video while getting my power steering assist replace, sounds like hell
