I'm not sure how it works in other states, but in Maryland, you can't use SNAP for anything but food, and you don't get cashback from food stamps. I think that's a good way of avoiding this.

That's the way its intended to be in ALL STATES! But you have the small stores owners who commit this fraud because it benefits THEIR stores income. Which benefits the owners income. In the past I have witnessed this being done at the little stores owned by Indians.

Just an observation, ebt cards should only be used in the state they are issued, if a person can afford to travel, they should get able to buy their own food. I only say this because I work at a convenience store in Colorado and we get ebt cards from all across the USA

I worked at a 7-Eleven near Disney world a long time ago and a big family came in and were buying a bunch of sandwiches and stuff with food stamps I was like must be nice to afford a vacation at Disney world and collect food stamps. I work for a living and can't even afford to go to Disney world. I could barely afford to pay my living expenses. SMH

Okay say you live on the state line the closest grocery store to you is in the next state the next closest store to you is 10 or 15 miles away are you have no transportation so how are you going to buy your food.

@@charles8394 grocery stores and convenience stores are entirely different. When people purchase foods at convenience stores it's not necessarily nutritious choices. Red bull candy chips etc

only allow stores that have register systems that decifer between food and beer/cigs and doesnt allow cash back! also make it so everyone on cash assistance gets their rent,electric and heat paid for with vouchers!

johnny rebel. Not all states give vouchers for electricity- heat is either electric or propane based. Vouchers are given only through section 8 housing program,and HUD sends sumpelment checks for its housing program. If it wasn't for the government programs, alot of people would be homeless. Because of the fraud, I had to jump through hoops to get what I need.

@@angelacamlin6805 With my luck because there is so much fraud being committed on benefits there won't be any left for the ones of us who have worked for 40+ years. Then what are the people who have worked many years and have paid taxes and really need them going to do? Our government needs to take the funds from things that are not necessary right now such as going back and forth to the moon, and figure out a method to stop this fraud. I watched a show on tv awhile back where it said this world had enough nucleir weapons to blow the entire world up 7 times over and over. If the world gets blown up once that should be enough but yet our tax dollars continue to build them. I guess food stamp fraud is not a high priority for our country's intelligent people to waste their time on because they figure raising our taxes will cover it🤔😏.

This is Billy.If there are over 290k retailers in one state that means over 4M nationwide that's a lot of violations in one year.That's over $23M loss every year.That's just ridiculous.They make it higher priority towing cars & collecting tolls

People should be given food vouchers that can't be exchanged for money. You have vouchers for milk, bread, cheese, and meat.

Give them one store to shop at then give them a voucher to take an Uber once a week to and from the store.stop making it so easy for these low life's to live.

I believe that some people need food stamps to live the people in the comments saying give out boxes of food what happens after that they are really inconsiderate of a persons situation I’m very glad I never had to have food stamps but some people really need it remember that before judging someone for having food stamps

I remember, way back, when they gave the paper food stamps, I was probably 12-13 yo, and I was a runaway, for a little over a year, and I was staying with this lady, who lived in this metal camper, the ones that look like big silver tweenkies, anyway, we'd take her food stamps and go to this one little gas station and buy a .25¢ pack of gum and they'd actually give you cash back

They should punish the owners of the food stamps not only the ones that buys the food stamps .

I don't believe this video I've never seen anybody get anything but food with their food stamps

People that are working always preach stop welfare programs. When Donnie shut the government down for over a month those citizens were glad to have food stamps and government assistance. If you've never been in that situation you wouldn't know how much assistance is needed. Thier are vets and disabled citizens that have paid thier dues and deserve some help. Self centered people that only focus on the bad apples shouldn't have a say on this subject.

It's a late response , but I agree with your statement. While we all know that there's a lot of fraud that goes on , there's ALSO MANY people who are sincere and need help. Those who are usually the loudest in criticizing everyone receiving assistance and would like to do away with many (if not all )of these programs , are usually people who have never really struggled and have some kind of financial security. It's always easy to advocate for the end of public assistance programs (using the excuse of widespread fraud) until these same individuals fall on hard times themselves . I look at this topic from different angles and can see valid points on both sides of the fence. There's different reasons why people are poor and need public assistance , and it's not always that they're simply lazy and want free handouts ; a lot of things come into play. Those who look down on and don't want to help the poor (using the bad apples as an excuse ) may very well find themselves in difficult circumstances one day. While I would like to see more ways of putting an end to welfare or other public assistance fraud , I don't believe depriving those who DO need help to fix the problem is the answer. I say more background and drug tests might be a step in cracking down on fraud. IDK.

Whenever you have a public assistance program like this, there will always be fraud and cheaters. You do the best you can to eliminate it, but you have to just accept that there will be fraud and cheaters. It's part of the cost of doing good.

And what about those of us on social security? I was younger and got hit by an 18 wheeler (he wasn't paying attention) I was innocent. No fault state. Covered only my medical, lost wages. I could not return to work. I am now elderly. A grandma to you expect me to go hungry? I am not complaining I am extremely grateful for the social security check I get, It's barely over a thousand. It's not as black and white as many think. I never abuse it. I'm extremely grateful. Funny how everybody thinks about how many crooks there are that don't think about how many more honest people there are. As to what others think one should buy for food that does not take into consideration any allergies, sensitivities, likes and dislikes. Imagine being told that you are now being forced to eat something now 3:02 absolutely do not like. All because somebody thinks you should. Think of a dish absolutely detest, now you have to eat that all the time because somebody else thinks you should. Again not everything is black and white. I thought it was when I was younger. It's not.

I have a EBT card but have paid taxes all of my working life and do not abuse the card. But there are times that some people just need help.

I’m Canada se have something called the food bank which is harder to scam but I like the food stamp method better

I do believe in giving people a more fairer amount of food stamps and STOP treating the Actual POOR people that signs up for food benefits like criminals, being POOR is NOT a crime, stop treating POOR people like criminals and stop giving ridiculous amounts like $20, you, food stamp workers can NOT live off that, so why FORCE the POOR to do it. The only reason no-one has spoken up against it, people are too POOR and some just sit there and take it, even though that is NOT enough.
