If someone works for a phone company and has access to the input data, in other words, the numbers you press on your phone to maybe check your balance on your EBT card, are recorded somewhere and if that person with access via their job or occupation, decides to exploit that data to manufacture fake cards and use the numbers, then when they make the new fake cards using the real numbers, they can make it for any state they want because it's a FEDERAL program and the numbers are shared nation wide not divided up by state. So then you get multi-state theft by a ring operating from just one state. That's my best guess. They do the same thing with DMV records to make fake ID's and they bust DMV workers every year for this felony.

@@johnsmith-ls6tq These people usually buy this info on the DW, and even some clearnet sites, where there are numerous places that let you buy "fullz" (what they call the combo of SSN, ID, etc.), which can then be used to create any accounts you want under someone else's name. How they get this information to sell varies, but often comes from data breaches, or any people that you give your SSN and ID to, but possibly online forms as you said. Even if it's not a picture of your physical card and just your name and number, they can just print out IDs with your number and any/your picture if they can get it, and use it online with little verification, besides maybe a selfie, but not many sites make you take one. The same applies to credit cards. They get sold online to whoever wants them. It's easier to buy local (your city/state) cards, as it's easier to pass fraud checks online this way, as the main fraud check is location of use, whether it's a VPN/proxy (hiding their IP), and the billing address used. They get stolen at gas stations/etc., using skimmers, and these people either use them or sell them. - From experience

I go to Costco for my job as a cook. I don't see how using food stamps there would be efficient or cost saving, particularly when (as far as I know) you can't buy toilet paper or booze or beach towels. It's easy to drop $200 in there every day. It's an inside job.

Good to see how mot only used against me, but also how my taxes are wasted.

It's not that they are sophisticated criminals, it's just that the government doesn't have much oversight of these programs. This has been going on for decades. Each state oversees this Federal program without much scrutiny. If you want to know who the ringleader is, start at the state level, in that office you will probably find a low level office worker who built this conspiracy.

How many more will never be caught??

America isnt doing enough to make changes in how you can use your cards. There needs to be face recognition or pictures taken of you when you make a point of sale purchase. There needs to be fingerprints taken at the time of purchase. Or thoae things dont match up with who you are, then the card should be declined.

Good now you need to report it to HOUSING so they lose those benefits also!😂😂😂

Kind of makes you wonder how this is a crime when in fact credit card fraud has been in plat for decades. What makes a goverment entity smarter to use the same tech and there not be fraud. Yeah it made it easier to distribute to the needy, but as well to the crimnals.

So happy for you that you've never found yourself in a terrible situation when you've done nothing wrong. Also keep in mind that the minimum wage hasn't been raised for 13 years! Who can live on 7.27 per hour these days? Not to mention big business is cutting work hours for many of it's so called full time workers so they don't have to provide benefits. Not justifying the thieves in this case. Only defending those who are set up to fail.
