true words mate ! 4 life .
Dave Letterman talked about how important this song was to him when he was recovering from a nearly fatal illness, it was so genuine, I will always have respect for Dave because of that
Does anyone else think Dave's finale was absolutely perfect? I watched it that night having rarely seen an episode, and I was laughing and crying.
This always brings a tear to my eye! 32 years compressed into 6 and a half minutes. So much breadth and talent! So many happy memories!
Hey, it wasn't just Dave's life flashing by so quickly. I watched Letterman nearly every night in college with my roommates when he was at NBC. Now, I'm graying, bald, and nearing retirement. What a spectacular final act by the Foo Fighters and Barbara Gaines.
Thank you Foo Fighters and Dave.
Barbara Gaines did such an incredible job producing this montage.

How about timing the Farah Fawcett "Wow" to coincide exactly with the silence in the middle of "Everlong"?

I hate the random audio thrown in over the song.
Now I know again, what it's like to watch your whole late night life flash before your eyes. What a great life!
I tend to watch that ending montage every now and then. The montage mixed with the rockin’ music from Foo Fighters really encapsulated the show’s overall attitude and themes into a neat little package. Kudos to Barbara Gaines and her team for this huge undertaking of pouring over thousands of hours of footage to take the fans of the show, new and old alike, on a 33-year trip down memory lane. It was a marvelous send-off and a brilliant bookend to an historic run of late night television. Brava and bravo to everyone who worked on the show on a job well done.
When it hangs on the still shot of Warren Zevon, still gets me. Enjoy every sandwich.
So great that Norm holding back tears got an extra split second on the montage. Without a doubt the greatest guest and greatest comedian

@@raggededge82 Norm died(2021) years after the final episode of Letterman(2015). He was the last comedian to be on the show and got choked up during his monologue.
The end of the greatest era of late night television.
The greatest timed montage with live music I've ever seen. I watch this a few times a year. Epic! RIP Taylor...
Barbara Gaines....I know how hard you worked to put the montage together...and I know how happy you were when it all came together. It's a tribute to the love you have for the man, they myth, David Letterman.
I miss Dave, I miss Norm more. Thanks for the greatness Mr Letterman
Best send off ever.
I loved this when it aired, and I still love it now. RIP Taylor!
Beyond fabulous. Man we miss you Taylor. Stunning finale. This so made me smile. I reside in Australia and 5 nights a week I went to bed with Dave which my Darling Husband thinks that is just hysterical. Dave you have left a void in all of our lives. My Heartfelt gratitude, your Mother and & Jack Hanna were my absolute favorites. Bless you Dave. Australia
This is probably the best rendition of Everlong I've heard and I need this one
This montage is why Barbara Gaines got her own show on KZread. Makes me cry every time I see it.
There was something so comforting about Dave that none of the current late night talk show people have. Dave and Conan had IT.
This specific live version absolutely thrashes any other version they ever did.
RIP to the man all the way in the back
One of the greatest moments of TV.
Pure montage of photos snd clips and the fighters are providing superstar montage music
The FINEST rock band of our generation serenading the Finest last show host of our generation.
It was so awesome the show ended with Mr. Letterman's favorite! I know how much this song means to him. HIs life changed so much after the heart surgery and this song was his muse.
Echoing many comments so far, this made me sad all over again. What a ride Dave took us on for 33 years in late night (and a short time in the morning).
I cry like a baby every single time. I don't know why I keep watching it lol. Love you Dave!!!
Seeing all of this makes me realize even more that the golden age of legendary celebrities is dead and its impossible to have an awesome show like this anymore. Great clip.

This is exactly how a channel on KZread should be. Clips daily and just awesome material from the show. I love how it ended.
Incredible to see all those legendary guests and crazy stunts crammed into one video. What an amazing legacy.
feels like 2-3 years ago. Thanks Dave!
Tears, every time. So happy we have this channel but there was nothing like 11:30 on CBS, ALMOST EVERY NIGHT OF THE WEEK. Love ya Dave.

this is an emotional one for me, i miss letterman and i miss taylor and im pretty sure im gonna miss the foo with all my heart. thank you for making my life so great guys.
Could not have had a better end to the show! Amazing!
I'm just glad to see I'm not the only one crying! Does it every single time. ❤
Just love this montage to an awesome song. Dave was like a late night god to us that now closer to 60 versus 20. He was an agent of chaos and not afraid to push the envelope wide open. Dave alway had the best musicians and bands on his show. Thankful for Paul on that. His years at NBC while doing Late Night will never be duplicated
Couldn't watch the last show. Was a viewer since his morning show and was so bummed out by his retirement...I knew if I watched I'd cry. Saw it 10 years later and yes, wept. He was such a huge part of my and so many other peoples lives. I was fine until the montage with Everlong in the background. Still powerful after all these years. Thank You.
one of the greatest bands ever. rip Taylor 🙏
Gets me every time, dammit. So many friends I’ve never met.
This song has so many hooks it's hooks have hooks.
What a man awesome last show it was. We love you, Dave!
When "Live from New York" meant something hopeful getting over the man. Now the man convinces us daily that he is the bright shiny man.
Oh my Lord...TEARS! Dave is my hero!
That one shot of Warren Zevon...
I’m a 24 year old that never watched Letterman more than 3-4 times a year in my pre-teen years, but truly enjoyed Dave nonetheless. Still, I grew up an old soul (thanks to my parents). Watching this makes me really appreciate how amazing the American culture used to be between music, TV, movies, arts, comedy, politics, entertainment, etc. I’m a teacher now, and seeing the lack of interest in pop culture history is both astounding and heartbreaking. This truly was the pinnacle of America, and we have these memories to help us feel that nostalgia. Thank you Dave, for everything.
I watch this from time to time and get emotional each time . This song and monkey was so important and like others said the final show was also at a transition point in my life and this moment was almost as important as those personal events
"And now the punchline..." great ending.
Miss you Dave !!!
4:33 - RIP, Spoon.
i remember watching this live. 9 years ago... legendary
Barbara, remembering listening to you on a podcast or another media site shortly after the show. You mentioned the challenges and having Dave like what the team put together. This always puts a smile on my face. Simply a “mic drop” to the show.
So good... Just SO good! Epic television moment, for a well deserved finale. Glad to be part of the many who felt this the same way, watching it in real time. So much emotion. Thank you for putting this up for everyone to enjoy together again, and always. ❤
Believe it or not, the end of David Letterman’s career BEGAN my love for Foo Fighters Thanks Dave.
This clip makes me think where did all that time go?
One of the greatest TV finales / sendoffs of all time.
I come here sometime just to cry
I love these videos. It reminds me of a time when I was happy. When life didn't suck so bad for everyone. Thank you Dave. We love you. I love you. I still hope to talk with you someday!
😥♥️👏🏽 I love you David Letterman! 💕

Love this! Masterpiece of moments. Incredible work by Barbara Gaines.
9 years later and i still get teared up watching this
So many great moments. This video is both happy and sad.
Dave going off the CBS airwaves coincided with a fairly transitional point in my life so this performance and also the episode that aired exactly the week before it (Julia Roberts/Paul Shaffer/Ryan Adams) "hit me in the feels" to use the clichéd expression.
I'd like to request Mujibur and Sirajul please, also THAT 90s interview with Drew Barrymore.
Outstandingly Fn AWESOME montage!! Bravo to whoever took the time and skill to put this together.. Thank you!!! God Bless you Dave. You are an amazing talent 👏!!
My favorite video ever.
Dave always put good music first, legendary performances on his show. Foo, Vedder, Lana Del Rey after the SNL fiasco, Beastie boys. and COUNTLESS OTHERS. All while being cognizant of the fact that Dave’s audience didn’t really rock with “new hip” music based on his key demographic (Leno having the younger audience in those years) Dave is a gem.
This. This is special. Great job Foos.
I love David letterman since hiding under the covers in my room, watching him on a black and white tv in high school or we can go further and say me and my nana watched him during the day!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
late night TV has not been the same ever since Dave signed off... Fallon, Kimmel, etc. just no where near as good, and Foo Fighters never disappointed, just a great match with Letterman
Love the "Dave Through The Years" mini-timelapse at 5:11. Look at all those hairpieces. ;-)
Best last show ever!!! Also stand by me was great
I did see this on TV when it happened, but I don't want to watch it again because it makes me sad.
what a tune ! back then and now And forever !
Always love watching this ❤️
what an amazing legacy that the world will never be able to have again.
The "happy tears" you get from this is one of the best feelings anyone could ask for ❤🌍
couldn't help but revisit this after the tribute show today. Such an incredible video with the clips.

So awesome
When Dave said “My favorite band, playing my favorite song” I was a fan for life.
This is so beautiful
