What a class act. You NEVER see any talk show host (let alone anyone as big as Conan) literally tell his audience to stop watching his show and switch to another one. That's a very large display of class.

Johnny gave David Letterman his chance to make it, and David came on your show and saved it, then in the future you owe it to some other struggling up and coming late night host to go on their show and give them the same boost that Johnny gave Dave and Dave gave you. Pay it forward. Go Team Coco.

But....you, coming off the Simpsons, and transitioning to late night, was a helluva shift. And, i'm glad you took it! There are very few of you left with such....honor. Dave, You, Kimmel - It's gonna be weird not to see Dave on CBS. Just like it was weird to not see you on NBC anymore. Jay doesn't have the class - And, even Lopez, if he was doing the show still - he would have the EXACT same words! I can see Dave in you - as well as yourself, you've come a long way. You've taken a beating - but, you came out strong in the end. And, Unlike Jay - Dave's gonna go out in Style just as Carson did.

Conan's story here is not only a heart warming tribute to Dave but I think it also has a very strong message of if you are a misfit, you feel like you don't belong and there's only a 1 way dead end ahead of you to not give up. He said it himself after 4 really dreary months and the network made it clear he won't be on tv much longer an unlikely event shaped things in a positive way literally overnight.I guess some of us are waiting for that miracle in out lives to come, it may never come at all or we may not recognize the chance when it calls but look at Conan, with the odds stacked 100 million to 1 against him he with the selfless help of Dave achieved legendary success. Dave and Conan will forever be remembered as comedy legends.

He said he didn't want the role because it was such high profile character that had been famously done before and everyone has their own idea of how the Joker should sound. For not only helping my favorite late night talk show host out at one of his lowest points, so that he'd even exist, but for all of the other things I just don't know about that he's done, that are good. Nearly six years later (I revisit this video often) and one thing I find more striking now than when I first watched it: For Conan, it was exceptionally meaningful to hear David Letterman telling him that his comedy was "very high-level, and the volume and the quality of the stuff just (knocked him) out." It was meaningful because Letterman had earned the gravitas to where such compliments mattered. By the time, Letterman was signing off, it was Conan saying that “we will not see a man of (Dave's) talents and comedic integrity again in our lifetime" and *Conan* that had earned the gravitas for *that* compliment to hold significant meaning.
