The band's most successful incarnation started when Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined the band in the 1970's. Stevie and Lindsey are both great writers and vocalists. Lindsey is an evil genius on the guitar. I love the other three as well, but absolutely everything changed for the better when Stevie and Lindsey joined.

You guys are absolutely right. This album was created when everyone was having relationship problems. John and Christine were having problems and eventually divorced. Stevie and Lindsay broke up and Stevie started seeing Mick Fleetwood (the drummer) Stevie, Lindsay AND Christine sing vocals. Christine had the voice of an angel. RIP Christine. Their song "Songbird" is one of the sweetest songs I think I have ever heard. It is just beautiful in it's simplicity and it evokes a feeling that you recognize if you have ever been in love. I also love "You Make Lovin Fun" which Christine also sings. Both are great. Sadly we recently lost Christine but the beautiful music she made will live on thanks to channels like yours. Make sure you hit one of her songs!

Stevie Nicks wrote Silver Springs for Lindsey also when they split. You should give it a listen. Also, some of Stevie Nicks solo stuff. She wrote to process her feelings and there is only so much space on the Fleetwood Mac albums. So she has several solo albums. Edge of seventeen, Leather and Lace with Don Henley, Stop dragging my heart around with Tom Petty, Bella Donna, After the glitter fades, Think about it, all from the Bella Donna album.

I liked Tyler's remark "70s? I wasn't even thought of - my dad was a child." I was a kid in the 70s too and it was a great time to be a kid for many reasons. One, related to this reaction, is - imagine you're 6-10 years old, riding in the backseat of your parent's car and the radio is tuned into WAKY or some other pop/rock station of the time and you're hearing one after the other...Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Commodores, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney & Wings, etc and it is the current top 40. Not classics. You're just waiting for the next new song to come out and it's going to be good because the talent and creativity of the time was off the charts.

Aside from the general accolades from writing numerous hit songs, Fleetwood Max are also revered by audiophiles for the meticulous production values on their records. Rumors has sold over 40 million copies, making it the highest selling record of the 70's, and the 12th best selling record in history. Though there are many great songs for which to review or react, IMHO, the song 'Sara' is the the best showcase for the band at their best. Great reaction guys. :)

Fleetwood Mac have three, distinct eras. The only constants being Mick Fleetwood and John McVie( the Mac comes from McVie). The first incarnation, led by Peter Green was a blues based rock band. The second version, after Green left, was fronted by American, Bob Welch had a more pop direction. The third, and most successful lineup formed after Welch’s departure, with the addition of Buckingham and Nicks. It is, by far, the most popular version, although many of us old timers prefer the original lineup. They are really three different bands, depending on the main lead singers/songwriters. Fleetwood and McVie have done alright for themselves.

Me too, I was in my kitchen cooking, and I heard this song playing in the music room. My late hubby loved music too. He'd bought the album that morning. The minute I heard it I was hooked. I shut off the stove , yelled at him whose that? Grabbed a bottle of wine, my stash of hash, and joined him. I never left until we played that album several times. Me sitting in the rocking chair digging on it. My hubby playing along on the piano! Damn. What an amazing experience! Lol I've read everything I could find on them all these years. Followed their careers. I gotta admit I didn't like Lindsey much because he was such a spoiled conceited jerk..talented no DOUBT! but very controlling.. she was and is a better lyricist than he was. Jealousy on his part. He knew it. Still knows it! As a woman, she gave him her all. But he just didn't get it. Lots of guys are like that. To bad he lost a good woman. Lol I'm 77 and still love her !

I love this song so much! This is probably my favorite song that Stevie has written. Writing a song about her and Lindsey's break up and then having him sing back up about it is an amazing "BOSS" move. Yes, they were broke up by then. There was so much animosity in the band. Lindsey and Stevie had a love-hate relationship after their break up. They vowed to never let their relationship get in the way of the band though, so the band stayed together through all of that mess. John & Christine divorced then as well. Christine was having an affair with one of the bands electrical techs. and that was it for John and hers marriage. That bands history is really remarkable. I've seen so many documentaries and interviews about this band it is ridiculous. I'm slightly obsessed with them. I have been since I was about 14, so that is 38 years of loving this band and especially Stevie! 😁❤

Got that album for Christmas in 1977, I was 13. One of the best albums of the 70's. Christine McVie wrote 50% of their singles. Lindsay and Stevie are not the most important members. All 5 are the most important members. Actually Stevie was considered Fleetwood Mac's "Little sister". Just saying. All 3 singer song writers were amazing. Super talented band with McVie and Fleetwood one of the most original rythem sections in rock n roll. Don't get me wrong Buckingham is an amazing guitar player and singer and a gifted producer, and Nick's is one of the most prolific song writers in rock history. But Christine's blues keyboards, prolific hit writing, and honey dripping vocals are no back seat. With the Mac it was all about chemistry, chemistry and drama, lol.

Stevie Nicks - who sings lead in this song - is one of the only female artists to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame twice, the other being Tina Turner. So yeah, I agree with your friend that it's a travesty that you did not mention her
