Hey Nutn, I’ve been watching since I was in high school in 2008. Grew up a fat kid in the city with no outdoors experience and no direction in life. Your channel resonated with an adventurous, rugged side of me most people did not know was there. Lost a lot of weight, exercised, got into shooting, got into hiking and then ultimately backpacking. I’ve been to some really cool places and seen amazing things. 16 years later, I still love watching your adventure/adventure gear videos. Thanks for all you do man.

Great & thorough review. Fixed blade 6" or longer - absolute necessity when camping, hunting, fishing, but not the thing for EDC in the "civilized" areas (too many oversensitive snowflakes). For "civilized" area EDC, I carry Cold Steel "Voyager" lockback folder w/tanto point blade - very handy. Don't know the grade of steel, but holds an edge very well. Great for opening up cardboard boxes & predatory creatures that don't recognize a serious blade when it's "presented". Approx. 15 yrs. ago, was attacked at work by cretin w/T-handle screwdriver. Situational awareness prevented his stabbing me in the back. I pulled my knife from my hip pocket, snapped it open (not unlike a switchblade), showing him I had a "real" knife - he turned and started to walk away. Thinking the confrontation was over, I also turned to walk away, but SA again warned me so I turned and there was Mr. Cretin behind me preparing again to stab me. I parried his attempt and made a quick slash across his chest, opening up his T shirt and drawing a thin line of blood. I told him to go away or I'd really cut him open and let him bleed out in the street. That convinced him to leave and I watched him walk away down the street before going back to work (and calling the OPD to report his attempt on me). I have a number of Cold Steel blades that I'm convinced are of excellent quality, well designed, and eminently reliable.

I was edc the tanto version of the cold steel srk. 50$ its big and hefty. Never had a use for it while carrying it, but it wore well. Got alot of conversations out of it, only people I knew, and since they expect this sort of thing from me, it was received well enough. I like it alot, my pocket knife, and utility knife see all the action. Having the capability of it was awesome, just less useful in most practical daily cases. However, it does still go with me everywhere, just not on body as much, but I have experience with it, and can feel confident putting it on my system, if the need arises or I go into the woods. It being as thick as it is, seems to be its only real downside, very much don't care though. The rat 7 looks like it's real upgrade. I was able to carry it comfortably, and the sheath is nice. The mora worked well and seen much more use while wearing it, but it's deformed now (sheath) due to the size of my belt (beltman). The briar is still holding up, but I have to tighten it alot. Idk why I still never put loctite in it. It's been sharpened so much its a bit shorter than it one was lol. Excellent work nutn, ill be in it for the long haul. I'd buy the zt, if finances allowed and it fit my system. Cpm 3v really is awesome and is never cheap, that metal can be perfection with proper heat treat. I'm still a fan of my silky saw, but I been obsessive about my couple chainsaws lately. Every tool has its use. Even me I guess... sometimes. 😅

5:20 What we want is to know you are having fun, how you like the tools. But mainly to see you have a fun time. You could probably improve your screenshots and titles to grab people attention. But you have to face the fact that your channel is aging, and maybe people like now have kids that didn't before, spouses that didn't before, and more stress at work. Maybe an adjustment to reviewing gear in lower price points to pull in a younger audience with less funds. 300+ for a fixed blade is absurd. I had a gear fixer from Bass Pro for 30 bucks that could do 90% of you are doing. But in regards to what I NEED a knife to do... pounding directly into a limb is not one of them, so I don't care if it can, especially if I paid 300+ bucks for it.
