"And There Shall Be No Food" Food Storage Advice

When it comes to food, many many people live hand to mouth in this country. They count on a food delivery production and distribution system that is fragile. They've had clear hints about this in recent years. But most have ignored these warning signs and do not in any meaningful way store up food. They spend their time and money on frivolous diversions and foolishness. They think Ubereats will always be there...ahhh the illusion of modern conveniences.
And many of these HUANs will expect a government to feed them when our food system crumbles. Most don't take responsibility for their own welfare. You do and that's why you're here. In this feature length Nutnfancy Bunker Philosophy video, we'll talk about that. Then we get into the specifics of food storage and my recommended approach. I cover some common food storage PITFALLS to watch out for. Many considerations are covered here in this most critical preparation for you and your family. Brought to you by donors to TNP! More along this way coming btw Paul Kwiatkowski 2d We take alot for granted. The practical advice is appreciated. Make progress eack month seems easy enough. Now lets see how much I get done. 2 david rockwell 2d The jar meal system you espoused was a major impetus to augment my food storage. My friends and I made approximately 90 meal jars over the span of three week ends. I have slowly used those jars years after creation; store what you eat, eat what you store.. The effort is well worth the reduction in stress. My system today is a mixture of tier 1, tier2, and a little tier 3 (charity/donation food). I am set for six months (space is a major limitation). Focus on 30% meat protein, 30% fat, and 40% carbs. Thumbs up for Red Feather butter. Do not forget about water purification and storage. Thank you for the continued dedication and effort. 1 The Nutnfancy Project just now You're doing pretty good David, way to go. I wish all TNPrs have at least 6 months. Brendan Ross 2d I could understand being hesitant to prep before the pandemic. But after the pandemic not prepping is insane. 1 BadgerTails 23h Right! While the powers-that-be line up the chess board for WW III!?!? 1 Mykaelous 1d I get down with Alpineaire. They have some of the best protein/calorie ratios to cost, the trick is to really invest in some simple salt, pepper, spice packets as well as hot sauce to give them that extra kick in the ass. 1 BadgerTails 24h Sweet, we mostly do the Peak re-fuel, picking the highest Calorie count packets to store. Which ones would you recommend? TIA BadgerTails 24h Never heard it until I started watching the prepper channels like Nutn, 15 years ago; a warrior in the garden, I am. Admit it's some work but I set up a spreadsheet of dates to help me remember the rotation....the older I get, sigh. As always Nut'n thanks for your hard work and commitment to us all. Without you we'd be casting into a sterile pond! Andrettski 5d More prepared is always better. It's been tougher to rotate some stuff due to my wife's and my diet changes, mostly when it comes to pasta. I don't eat as much peanut butter like I used to either. Now you’re talking to me 👍 Lynn E Fite, Col (r) 5d History: most people died from starvation, malnutrition, dehydration, illness, disease hoplite ⚔ 5d Pumped for this one. Will help me update and optimize my stock and systems I’m sure. Thanks Nutn! Willie Everett 5d Perfect timing for me, I packed up another 10 pounds of rice into one and two cup packs. I also started cleaning and vacuum sealing 40 pounds of chicken. Jonathon Hurley 5d Nobody cares what you look like nutn' Just keep pumping out the gold! 1 Phillip Robinette McKracken 5d My grandparents, and mom used to can rather often. Got friends who don't freeze, but can their deer asap. The best home canning happens when you can buy or garden a bushel of vegetables at a time. The concept of sharing various canned goods among the family can definitely keep variety in your diets. I like canning whenever my wife leaves me alone in the kitchen, without supervision. That's about once a year..... Checking on metal cans vacuum state, and any funky smells on opening, and the date is about the 10 years as you mention. I think you're trying to talk yourself out of homestead work. Chickens are rather easy. We've all done it, and will do it again, when the food clock starts. Daniel Defoe 5d I just got some freeze dried food from freezedrywholesalers.com Due to food allergies in the family I went with ingredients rather than meals, but the quality and cost were good. Canadian Prepper had a discount code (CANADIANPREPPER) for a whole lot off. 2 BadgerTails 24h Yes! That was the vid on " see what the elites are stacking.." or somethign to that effect? Dude, have you seen their website, all the stuff that's sold out?! Holy wow!! Bluegill097 5d Excellent video, perfect timing as stated. I am big into storing red beans and rice right now in airtight buckets. My wife hates the amount of space they take up in the garage but I am standing my ground on it. I need to get my water figured out though. 1 Racing Psychosis 5d The HUAN's imo don't give damn about anyone else other than themselves and never pay attention to anything going on in their state or nation other than what the SJW's want them to see. 1 Racing Psychosis 5d Thanks for posting those manufacturers, there are a few I had not heard of before and definitely will try. I do use freeze dried at the race track on those long race weekends outside cities that I do not want to venture out in, ie the state of Hellinois, and at some of the more remote locations as well. Its good to have something other than sandwiches that you packed in a cooler or the trailers fridge for 3-days plus. Thor Allen 4d POF Revolution DI impingement 6.8lb 308 please review. Mark Higginson 4d Harvest Right freeze dryer upfront costs are high. The costs are ameliorated after putting back one year’s worth of supplies though. Joey 4d These are my favorite videos! Matthew McNally 4d Being a Patreon supporter of the Project is the greatest value I can think of. Thank you Nutn! I hope to be able to meet you and shake your hand one day. You have guided me on gun purchases over the years and many other important matters. God bless you, your family, and the Project. 3 Charles Steimle 3d I’m sorry nutn. I haven’t been able to keep up on most vids but this one I’m half way thru and will finish later. I haven’t kept up because we ditched the city for the country. We started a homestead. Canning, raising chickens. Cow at a close family member Pig at a friends. Storing and preparing. 2 years ago we saw the writing on the wall and said “ time to get the hell away from here”. I stay subscribed because I believe in your message. You are a part of this family. I’ll try to keep up but we got a lot on our schedule. Thanks for all you do!!

Another excellent video as usual. My wife and I have been storing long term food (25)+ year since 2012. We started with the expensive Thrive Life stuff and eventually bought a large Harvest Right in 2017. When I built our house in 2015 I included a 16x19 climate controlled storage room with hidden access. It is currently stuffed with everything we have stored for over a decade now, you can barely walk into the room. 😀 It did not take long buying the purchased long term food before we paid more than the cost of the freeze drier several times over. Every item we have dried has the caloric value, protein and salt amount written on the package. When our canned goods start getting "old" into the freeze drier they go, veggies from the garden, into the freeze drier. Fats do not store long term and do not freeze dry but you can buy low fat items like pork tenderloin from Costco, spend a few minuted trimming the visible fat and freeze dry it. An interesting thing about fat and long term storage, chunks of solid fat do not store but fat mixed in with food items do. Based on calorie count, we have enough food and a large variety to sustain the two of us for about 3 years at a high caloric count per day. It takes time and dedication but it is actually easy once you are in the habit of preserving.

Paid for itself hands down, six months worth of good high quality home made meals, right here. Easy to put on our trailer and GTFO. Long time sub here I was here when you posted you're "many will want in need of water" and the without rule of law community videos. This one's overdue. Im a young poor Florida native that learned to can, grew and pickled. EVERYTHING YOU SAY IS CORRECT. I since opened my own buisness and had to stop because the extreme time needed. I still have HUNDREDS of canning jars that were once full because I'd buy as I needed them that are now empty. My oldest and last remaining stock now because the humididy have rusted lids (my indoor humididy today is 68% AC set at 78 in march 2023). And i have to eat those carefully or toss em. You gotta use that stuff on regular rotation. I'd say no longer then 5-6 years and plan on not reusing lids. Unfortunately what was my beginner house when I got out of the navy in 2011 is still my forever 650 sq ft home because home prices are astronomical here. My neighbors 3 bedroom place sell for nearly 1 mil on the regular after we just got murdered by hurricane ian and were out of ALL BASIC SERVICES for 3 weeks. I was loaning dog food to neighbors on day 3. Thanks to videos like this I didn't have to leave my home for weeks, shut down my buisness and Just worked 24/7 on repairs while others freaked out and waited in line burning fuel for hours in FEMA lines for basic bottled water. Irma taught me well were all truly f'd in true Armageddon. 3 weeks without gas supply, grocery, electric, or flushing toilet even after water came on. Me and 1 dog alone with a generator burn 5 gallons of gas a day running base minimum 2 deep freezers and the fridge that's it. I was real reliant in my freezers before this to buy and store in bulk Good work nutn

I've been buying 10 freeze-dried meals per months for at least 10 out of the last 15 years. There was a little hiatus for a bit, but I've been on track for a number of years at this point. I have multiple large plastic totes in my basement/garage that each have 55 separate meals in them, most of them being 2 serving meals. We routinely keep 6 weeks to 3 months worth of canned food items and dry goods on hand as well. I'm very confident that I could lock my doors and have enough food for at least 1 year for my family. My issue would be with water. I do have some water storage, but I don't have enough water storage. I prefer the individual incremental approach, even though it's a little more expensive, because it allows me to choose the meals that I like the most. I just tried out a Chicken Teriyaki Mountain House meal on my 11 year old son (who is a picky eater by the way), and he gave it a 7 out of 10 & declared it something he could definitely eat on a semi-regular basis. That was good enough for me. So far, I've identified 3 meals he can readily eat, and my goal is to reach or get near to 10 for him. I agree with you entirely regarding the current governmental regime in power, and I can entirely forgive the directness. It's super frustrating to see such awful human beings in charge of what was such a great nation. In my 6 weeks to 3 month pantry, I keep bullion cubes, pasta, lentils, canned meats, spices, and unsalted peanuts/almonds. All of that will keep for 1 year, though the nuts need to be eaten within 18 months, as the oils in them will go rancid. Why unsalted? Currently, I try to watch my salt intake, and those two unsalted items give me the ability to go salt free for a snack or a meal that provides good fats, calories, and helps my stomach to not feel empty. I can do something similar with the lentils and pasta. Great content! Thank you for not walking away from your belief in God. I'm a follower of Jesus Christ, and I'm always encouraged when I see people willing to declare God has the bedrock of their philosophy of life and preparedness.

Not a homesteader here but absolutely love home canned food. But we had to figure out what we would and would not use on a regular basis. Tomatoes were #1, and have so much better flavor than store bought. As for time, it's not really that bad, last year we did something like 96 quarts and did it in a little more than a day, and that's usually enough that we only do Tomatoes every 2 years. I'm sure the same can be said about other fruits and vegetables too.

In my experience the best way to build a baseline of calories on the cheap immediately to cover your ass while you start your prepping journey is to buy the big 20lb bags of rice and beans each time you go grocery shopping. In 5 weeks time you will have 100lbs of rice and 100lbs of beans and it will only add around $25-$30 to your bill each trip. I'd go for more if you have kids and like he said, powdered milk. That gets you in the door. Then you gotta learn how to store it all in Mylar but start today by picking up 20lbs of rice and 20lbs of beans. If the lights went out tomorrow you at least have a couple weeks of calories, just don't tell your neighbors if you don't know them. Oh yea, get to know your neighbors too.

*Food Fatigue* The British Navy faced and solved this problem on their sailing ships by having a cycle menu(if it was Tuesday you WERE having oatmeal, savory not sweet). To avoid food fatigue the cook must have the discipline to limit the ingredients used in the menu cycle recipes. If the cook is limited to just a small set of foods and seasoning it would be smart to not use every flavor and ingredient every day. The idea is to vary the flavors by reserving specific combinations to a menu cycle of at least a week. For example if a rice dish might taste a little better with both tomato and thyme, the cook could refrain from using the thyme and create a different and distinct flavor profile (that would taste just fine if you were very hungry) and reserve the thyme to flavor a different recipe later in the cycle. The menu cycle might only be a week long, but going seven days before you were presented with the same dish would blunt the food fatigue issue. This also extends to preparation techniques (like browning or frying )for example dehydrated onion will taste quite different if it is toasted in a dry pan( sort of like French onion soup) as opposed to adding it as it comes from the jar.

So didn't see it in the comments but you can keep chicken feed over a year, have even fed two year old feed. Big things are to make sure it's dry, well ventilated, and rodents/bugs out of it. Any moisture whatsoever in corn especially is bad news. Can get mold, ferment, and even explode/ spontaneously combust. I buy our corn for feed in bulk for around a years worth. Just a suggestion but rolled or cracked grain to feed your animals will digest it better than whole grain. Appreciate the content!
