I'm gonna be honest... I've been having a pretty rough day and sat down to watch some KZread, but had no desire or motivation to watch anything. When I saw you uploaded a new video though, just that alone cheered me up a bit. Thanks for being a stark contrast to the other content out there, Stephen! There's just something so genuine and wholesome about your videos that never cease to put a smile on my face. Keep it up!

I cannot wait to move down there and start learning to fish the gulf. Thank you for the fun video. Also, side note, when I pray before meals I make sure to thank God for the uni/double uni knot. So glad to see someone else who appreciates it, even if that means less fish for me to catch.

I have fished a lot on the Mississippi Coast all in shore off piers etc. I had never caught a Jack before. Once I was fishing off the seawall on Cedar Point in Bay St Louis. Had some love bait out and was fishing close for pin fish and croaker for bait. Hooked a 30 in Jack it almost spooled me. The reel I was using gave it up at the end but the Ugly Stick lived on. When you said they will fight almost to the death I never knew that until that day it was the 1st Jack I ever caught. At the end I was worn out and so was the Jack. It took a while after I got it back in the water to get it to swim off. I watched/ listened to your video on the way to work. Thanks for good clean content. Honor and Courage D 3/8 1992- 1994. Wish you the best!

Great Video! Regarding the heartburn you mentioned you had, if you're taking antacids STOP and start taking high quality organic apple cider vinegar at the beginning of every meal. It's available in liquid, low-sugar gummies & pill form. You might also want to consider taking high potency "multi-strain" probiotics as well, just make sure to take the probiotics accordingly a/k/a with vegetables/fruits NOT with protein (nor apple cider vinegar) since those things will reduce the probiotics effectiveness - You can thank me later :^)

To make it quicker to gather some of the bait fish .. Why not chum it a bit around the docks.. grind some leftover fish at the bottom of the freezer (just step on them or something, no need to be extra subtle or anything).. wait a few minutes - plenty of blue crabs (yeah - got to release the juveniles) , croakers, pinfish, fatbacks or whatever comes around.. even mullets may come up.. in a matter of a few minutes with very little effort (I know, it's tough for you with that bad shoulder) - I may be wrong... just an idea, that's all ! If you think what I'm saying is wrong, let me know, I'll remove it ! On a side note - Croackers are probably the most underestimated fish in those waters (My water is when I could the NC outer banks) ! They are delicious, easy to catch from 3yo to 133yo.. They take anything you show them - wonder of the seas - used as bait, used as a good meal ! Sure a bit of bone here and there just be careful - and it's good eating ! My favorite fish was always Bluefish (Pomatomus Saltatrix) - really fun to catch - good eating when fresh ! But they don't seem to venture in the Gulf of Mexico !

I have a spot where i can fill up a whole cooler in the matter of a hour with 10-14 size shrimp which means they are 10-14 shrimp per pound they are massive inuse half for love bait and other half for shrimp boil. Gotta love living on the Alabama gilf coast where you can cast net for bait and shrimp legally unlike other states

Talking about casting at birds, next to the golf course on dauphin island on the beach, there was a massive blitz of cravale jacks and bull reds chasing pogies when I went last Saturday. There was so many of them I got lures cut off by other fish when fighting those big jacks, and yeah loosing 40 bucks worth of lures and having nothing to fish with doesn’t feel great 😭😭😭
