First Time Reaction Serge Gainsbourg Mon Légionnaire (GIGANTIC!) | Dereck Reacts

Ойын-сауық

#sergegainsbourg #monlégionnaire #firsttimereaction #french80s
Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at a first time reaction made possible via PATREON with Serge Gainsbourg and his song "Mon Légionnaire." An spoken style lyrically, but the instrumentation and the video take this thing to another level. I don't mind he's speaking, if not I think it's brilliant! See me lose my bananas!

This song was written in 1936 by Raymond Asso who was himself a former legionnaire. Originally, it was sung by Edith Piaf. It's about love and tragedy with a soldier we know nothing about. Serge Gainsbourg was a musical genius who loved to provoke "good society" and the rigidity of morals. He was curious about all musical genres. Serge would have stifled in our present time.

He is, without a doubt, the most complete and talented French artist of all time. He was so brilliant in so many ways it's hard to imagine. I don't know if you know it but he was actor , composer , poet , director , writer , singer , singer-songwriter , pianist , songwriter , jazz musician , screenwriter , film score composer , musician and painter. One example among others of the immensity of his talent are the hundreds of songs he wrote for dozens of French singers throughout his career. Finally, to summarize : Gainsbourg = Greatest French Genius Ever. It's pretty hard to choose but if had to recommend to you one song by Serge Gainsbourg, it would be : "Sea, Sex and Sun". Hello Dereck, I've been watching your videos for a few months and it's a pleasure to see you discover some classic French music, for some time I was wondering when you would arrive at Serge Guinsbourg, you're finally there! One thing is certain, you must continue to discover his work. For me he is a major artist of French culture, composer, performer and poet. He went through several musical periods and each time he produced complete albums of hits. It's a gigantic production, he wrote a lot of songs for other artists. He is undoubtedly my favorite French artist, there is not a week in my life where I do not listen to his songs. Today he is considered a musical genius, although he himself never considered himself a major artist. However, you need to know some things about this character. He is a sulphurous and contested person, during his lifetime, he always disturbed and pushed the limits of society. Some songs deal with delicate subjects, violence, incest etc ... Unfortunately, in the current cancel culture it seems difficult to react to certain songs. In my opinion Serge Gainsbourg would have hated this movement and would have fought it with his weapons vocabulary, impertinance rhythm and melody! My recommendation: Variations sur Marilou. kzread.info/dash/bejne/YoyGrpiMZ9TYqJs.html No vidéo clip, but i think you gonna apreciate the texte translation.

You definitely do not mess with Serge Gainsbourg... Lol. Truer words were never spoken. 'Initials BB' (written for French actress Brigitte Bardot who he was in a relationship with for a while) is a classic love song and another something different, also using a few notes from one of the classical composer Dvorak's symphonies.

Hi Dereck, Serge Gainsbourg was a great french singer and musician, he sing a great songs in France: "La Javanaise", "la chanson de Prévert", "la poinçonneur des lilas", "initials bb" for Brigitte Bardot, "Bonnie and clyde" sing with her, and "requiem pour un con" with a fantastic rythme. and he had a Gainsbarre périod, with an another songs, "love on the beat", and "la Marseillaise en reggae". Serge Gainsbourg was a genius of the french music.

Gainsbourg, Balavoine, Coluche, Thierry leluron were controversial public figures to the political class. They were very opinionated and weren't scared to voice their contention on social issues. Gainsbourg died 30 years ago but his influence in the French artistry is still very much present in France. He's the father of French actress Charlotte Gainsbourg.

Hello Dereck, I am really happy that you finally discover serge gainsbourg, because you have listened to a lot of songs written by him. Serge is really a great artist, poet, musician ... he is a Jewish child who experienced the Second World War, difficult for him, moreover, there is a film on his life, which I advise to see. He has gone through many eras with his music, the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s. He formed a mythical couple with Jane Birking, they had a daughter Charlotte Gainsbourg, who became a famous actress and singer, she is a bit the darling of the French. I advise you to discover a song he did with his wife jane "69 année érotique". A heavy smoker and alcoholic, he died of it. His disappearance left the French with deep sadness. But it leaves an incredible artistic heritage worthy of France. I also advise you to discover alain bashung roker with a big heart and poet. thank's and big kiss from France.

Serge Gainsbourg was a genius, he wrote his texts and composed the music for all his songs. This song was sung by Edit Piaf in 1936, which sings the love of a woman for a dead Legionaire, so he made this new version, the music video is directed by Luc Besson (the fifth element, Nikita, the big blue, Subway, etc.) listen if possible, - Je t’aime, moi non plus. - Initials B.B (song written for Brigitte Bardo, and which speaks of her, a pure masterpiece) - La Javanese etc. etc.

Yet another b/w music video, but this time since the song is nearly a centrury-old (originally released in 1936), it is understandable ;) I'm just kidding here. This music video was direct by no other one than Luc Besson (Subway, Nikita, The big blue, Léon: the Professional, The 5th element, Lucy, etc.). Besson also directed Mylène Farmer's "que mon cœur lâche" and Madonna's "Love profusion" music videos. *Notice that:* 1) Gainsbourg' version changed from a "straight"-song (e.g. Piaf's interpretation) into a "gay"-inspired song without changing a single word, just by the ambiance in the music video. 2) Gainsbourg song "You're under arrest" from the very same album was also a big hit (with typical us sounds of the 80's).

Legendary is a euphemism in his case. And indeed, no one could mess with this guys, my god he could bark back. You’re gonna have to choose another fruit there…. He’s off the bananas chart! Let me suggest cabbage. ;). This song was originally sung by another LEGEND, Edith Piaf. Gainsbourg has many phases in his life as a musician. This is the later phase. (Also wrote that Tandem song you reacted to. Try initials BB or Laëtitia for the 1960s stuff.)
