Brigitte Bardot was as famous as Marilyn Monroe was in her day. Extraordinarily beautiful and wild. She quit acting as her career and beauty was beginning to wane (I don't think she was 40) and retired to her mansion, La Madrague, near St Tropez. She has been an ardent animal activist for decades. Other than that, she generally keeps out of the public eye. Gainsbourg always loved beauty. It was inevitable that art would come out of this clash. I really like this song. Fantastic music. As you say, it has not aged. What more is there to say after that?

Hey man I just discovered your channel, and I notice that there are only three songs by Gainsbourg who in his long career covered a very wide spectrum of styles. Often pioneering in his designs, he still shapes the musical landscape today and still generates so much emotion. He was a great lyricist and arranger, a kind of guru.

Gainsbourg actually really sang when he was young on his first records, but he was a heavy smoker and drinker and that took it's toll.

Hey Dereck, thanks for the reacts that honors our musical patrimony ! I've seen in your videos that you've started to listen to France Gall. You really should listen to "Monopolis", and the Christophe Willem cover made in a show hosted by no other than France Gall herself in a tribute to Starmania. This version will give you goose bumps that'll hurt your skin! Thanks again and keep up the good work.

As you like Gainsbourg and France Galle (like me!) you should try Poupée de Cire poupée de son. It’s a song Gainsbourg wrote for her when she was very very young. She sang it at the Eurovision songs contest and won.

Just such a myth. This song and BB. The text is great... Sort of a piece of poetry with a touch of Baudelaire or Théophile Gautier.

There's a biopic about him, maybe you can find it with English subtitles. It's reakly great to see how he became such a monument in France. This song sounds like a James Bond movie song, it's very theatrical. Thanks for reacting to it. So many you can pick to react more!

He was also an anti-conformist ... he gave everything for his art. Derek, would you react to Loic Nottet (Mud blood or Doctor or Mr and mme) ?

Despite a not exceptional voice and an unconventional physique, he has an exceptional career. He leaves us with timeless melodies and chiseled texts worthy of the greatest poets

Bardot was like the Marylin Monroe in Hollywood or the Monica bellucci for Italy in France back in the 70s. She is well known internationally for her era. Yes she French sex symbol of the 60s for France. This is weird but a different kind of weird with an instrumental chorus.
