Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another first time reaction made possible via PATREON with Muriel Dacq and her song "Tropique." Et si vous saviez l'histoire de cette vidéo... mouhahahahaha ! :-) Et le mec avec la grosse voix, c'est mon frère ! qui, à l'époque, avait 15 ans ! On a osé et on l'a fait ! 35 ans après, on parle encore de ma chanson "Tropique" que j'ai composé dans mon grenier à l'âge e 15 ans, avec mon pote Axel de Kirianov ! :-)

OMG, Dereck. I got the notification and literally left my friends at dinner to come home and watch your reaction...LOL. The instrumentation is EVERYTHING in this song. The video is totally cheesy but the sound is classy. I heard this song in a club and I was drinking champagne and it felt totally appropriate. It has one sick bassline, agreed! I like this song in French but there is an English version and there are extended mixes in both languages. This was such a random reaction - I'm so glad you reacted to it. I've heard this song mixed in to a number of 80s Euro dance mixes. Peace!

Italo disco made in Belgium 😁. Big hit from the 80's. Good memories. It reminds me the Italo disco hits we could see on tv show "Top 50". It makes me think of suggestion like P. Lion 😉
This was a huge hit. Ignore the look and the lyrics. This is all about music, rhythm and dance targeted for dancing fun and the target was reached! BTW: music video was done on a budget in an afternoon in Oostende (Sea resort on the Belgium coast, facing north sea), not a specially hot place in winter (the song was released in February).

i love that fact, as I spent lots of holidays on the Belgian coast, you can definitely know her outfit is totally justified, her brother singing the low part must be freezing! The 'Chaud, chaud, chaud, chaud' parts crack me up looking at the video

I love this, it's such a good summer vibe. The male voice in the beginning reminds me of the beginning of Francesco Napolis "Balla.. Balla" and the male "chaud chaud chaud" voice reminds me of Falcos "Der Kommissar".. But I never saw the video before.

Hi Dereck. Thanks for your react on Muriel Dacq. Again a song from 1985, the year you were born! What HITS this year! 😉 Since July 11, she's 59 now. She's a Belgian female singer and this song Tropique" (Tropic) is her first single recorded in 1985 and ranked in 1986. It was the SUMMER HIT 1986 with other songs like "L'Amour A La Plage" from Niagara. It will be no.6 in TOP 50 sold over 600'000 copies and SILVER DISC. Other sources specify in the end after more than a year of remaining in the TOP 50, at more than a million copies. The young guy that you see is one her brothers, Eric, only 15 years at the time, who I believe is the "big voice" in backing vocals in French, Spanish and Italian. He had explained it many years later in a documentary about the 80's. Do you know, an English Version titled "All Night" for the Japan market exists? It's the cover that you took for your montage. There is 7" version but also 12" version. In 1983 , "Chacun fait ( c'qui lui plaît )" by Chagrin D'Amour ( with Valli , the American girl ) was an ENORMOUS HIT ! The first lyrics are english.

Hello Dereck, The rap in Italian you hear in the first part is a wink to the song "Ma quale idea" of Pino D'Angiò outed in 1981. I already asked you to react to this old Italian rap, it's exactly same voice and flow. This song was a very big hit in all Europa. You really should listen to it, funny and so funky! 80's was the best decade for music and invention, innovation , revolution for technology and animes , comics , catoons etc : remember the born of the NES and mario , the breakdance , michael jackson's thriller etc ...

I first heard this around 1994 when I discovered "italo disco" just a few yrs later than the 1981-1989 "wow" era of progressive disco being made on ANALOG equipment mind you..before MIDI digital interface began in ernest circa 1990s

Yes for Eight Wonder "I'M Not Scared", an English pure synthpop wave. Another video shot in Paris in 1988.
80's music can be cringy when it come to the music videos, but they did make lots of good music that no one have ever heard of. One of those is Ivan - Fotonovela you should check this one.

-C'est l'amour a déjà été fait- Elle a été effectivement mariée avec Alec Mansion. Ensemble ils ont eus 3 enfants. Elle est divorcée depuis.

Ce n''est pas uniquement un de mes classiques, mais aussi de beaucoup ici voire de beaucoup de Français qui la connaissent comme partie tant d'autres chansons de la décennie (que j'ai énuméré sur un autre commentaire). Ca reste dans les "standards" étant donné qu'on la trouve sur toutes les compils 80's sorties depuis tant d'années, on ne peut pas l'oublier! Puis elle a fait comme beaucoup d'artistes de cette décennie, plein de prestations télés et aussi les tournées 80's. Donc, c'est sûr, on peut pas l'oublier.
