Actually, Alan is from Georgia. He is a member of country music's "Class of '89"... One of 5 new country artists that made their first chart hits in 1989, that came to dominate country music, and not only dominated the '90s, but also changed country music forever, not only in how it can be played, but they also proved that they can be a commercial success as well... A country artist filling an entire arena was unthinkable before they came along, and common place ever since. The members of the "Class of '89" with a few examples of their songs are : Alan Jackson - "Chattahoochee", "Remember When", "Sissy's Song", "Where Were You..." Clint Black - "Better Man", "Killin' Time", "Walking Away", "Nobody's Home", "Nothin' But the Taillights" Travis Tritt - "Anymore", "Best of Intentions", "Help Me Hold On", "Here's a Quarter", "T.R.O.U.B.L.E." Garth Brooks - "The Dance", "Thunder Rolls", "Friends in Low Places", "If Tomorrow Never Comes" Mary Chapin Carpenter - "He Thinks He'll Keep Her", "I Feel Lucky", "Shut Up and Kiss Me" The "Class of '89" were so successful, that all the labels began copying them, with other artists, and soon there were countless clones of each of them, which saturated the market, and people started to get bored, and all but two of the five suffered career slumps because of it. Alan was one of the two who stayed on top into the 2000s and beyond. The other one who didn't take a hit was Garth Brooks, who stands as THE most selling solo artist in United States history, of ANY GENRE. He is second overall in that category ONLY to the Beatles, and Garth is in striking distance to knock them off their throne too. In case your wondering... Elvis holds the number 3 spot, overall, right after Garth. As for "King George"... With hits like "Baby Blue", or "The Chair", or "Run" or "The Fireman", or the ever popular "I Cross My Heart", from his movie, "Pure Country". George has accumulated over 60 number one hits throughout his career. "Amarillo by Morning" is one of those number one hits. George Strait always delivers a top notch performance. I have heard he is a very humble man too.

That thing Alan Jackson said at the end about needing a fiddle in the band if you're playing in Texas is a song by another great country artist called Alabama. They're song was called "If You're Gonna Play In Texas (You Gotta Have A Fiddle In The Band)." I suggest checking them out, as well. Keep up the great reactions.

George actually has 60 number 1 hits, but he is not the best seller in country music... Garth Brooks has that honor. Garth not only has the most sales in country music, he is second place overall sales of any genre, not Just Country. Only the Beatles have more sales then Garth, at least in the United States. That said... While I do love Garth... I still consider George Strait to be the King of country music. George does, after all, have considerably more number 1 hits then Garth does. That is a statement of its own.

Hi Britt. That song was a huge hit for George Strait. He has had lots of them. George has had over 60 #1 records. That's more than anyone in any genre I believe. Alan has had a great career as well. The stage was revolving. George's concerts nowadays are almost always in stadiums. Only places big enough for the crowds he draws. He has been "officially retired" 3 times now I think. Alan is still performing too, but he mostly does his shows sitting on a stool nowadays. He was diagnosed with some kind of neurological issue which makes it hard for him to stand for long periods. Two of the best voices and best entertainers in the biz. I am sending along a link to these 2 guys singing together at an award show. Doing a song about how Country music has been murdered by the "new country". Great song. Hope you like it. kzread.info/dash/bejne/gH9luNSuosLLp7A.html

Alan Jackson was my first favorite artist, since I was about 4 years old in the mid 90's.. At that age, I spend all day in an empty car shop with my dad, insanely bored out of my mind. And the highlight of my day was when Alan Jackson's "Chattahoochee" came on the radio, as well as George Strait's "Carrying Your Love with Me". Those are the first two songs that I can recall loving and memorizing. Alan Jackson is on my Mount Rushmore of favorite artists, along with George Jones, Hank Williams Sr, and Hank Williams Jr.. All of them have a huge catalog of hits that span decades. They're my go-to, and I'll never tire of hearing their songs.

This was an original hit by George Strait back in the 80's. It's widely considered on of the top songs in country music along with George Jones' "He Stopped Loving Her Today", Tammy Wynette's "Stand By Your Man", and a little duet from Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings called "Mommas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys". Alan Jackson hasn't been around as long as George Strait, but he is no less the legend. He is probably most well known for the song "Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning", a song he wrote about his emotions and experience after the tragedy on September 11, 2001. Only a few key knew about the song when he sang it live on November 7, 2001 at the Country Music Association's awards ceremony. You should definitely react to that song, that version... at the time he performed it, very few people were able to hold back the tears.

The line where he says " I ll be looking for 8 when they pull that gate, I hope that judge ain't blind" means the cowboy needs to stay on the bull for 8 seconds to be scored by the judge. In case u didn't know

Please oh please do George Strait's The Chair and Alan Jackson's Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning and speaking on what he said last, that is in reference to an Alabama song. Another fantastic group with a big catalogue of songs, my faves are Dixieland and Roll On 18 Wheeler! Happy Reacting! 🥰

You definitely need to go down the George Strait rabbit hole. Then the Alan Jackson rabbit hole. The 2 best to ever do it. They both have songs that’ll bring a tear to your eye and songs that’ll make you smile and have a good time

You're looking at the current royalty of Country music. King George Strait has amassed over 60 number one hits across almost 5 decades! He was artist of the decade, on top of being entertainer of multiple years, he is in the Country Music Hall of Fame, he is 3rd in terms of number of gold and platinum records, behind Elvis and The Beetles, and is #1 in terms of total singles and even set a world record for that achievement! So he definitely is The King of Country Music! All of his early songs were part of the soundtrack of my childhood, and a lot of my memories were because of this song in particular. He's smooth as hell though, which is why you gotta react to "The Chair" by George Strait. You'll see! As for Alan Jackson, who has the best first name anyone can have, he's probably going to be the next one to be considered the king, although personally, I think Garth Brooks might give him a run for the money, and they both got big around the same time. The line I love in this song is, "I ain't got a dime, but what I got is mine, I ain't rich, but Lord I'm free." If only things could be that simple to have nothing, but be free to do anything with nothing tying you down or holding you back, and pursuing that which you love!

Feel so bad for Sir Alan Jackson. He really is our Country Royalty, along with Sir George Strait of course. I heard he has a genetic chronic nerve condition. Such a shame that such a good person has to deal with this. We love you Alan.

Fantastic reaction and now that you can differentiate the younger Alan Jackson star from the older George Strait smooth vocal star, I know you would totally dig and laugh your ass off at some more of the George Strait humorous songs, unlike this one which is quite serious. Here are a couple things that I bet you would love from George Strait ... Fireman All My Exes Live in Texas. The Chair Arizona And the thing is, it's all top-caliber musicianship man his voice especially when he was young was just astonishing. And he always had the best band around him. And for Alan Jackson, he has so many great songs, but one that I bet you would get a huge kick out of his a sad song that is so well done, and it's called, here in the real world. And the music video that goes with it is fantastic so I would check that out as opposed to the live version. And then there is the absolutely monster hit and deservedly so, Chattahoochee, and of course songs like I'm going to get me a Mercury and drive it up down the road.

Cool trivia about Alan Jackson and George Jones: During the 1999 CMA Awards, George Jones was supposed to open the show singing a great song of his called "Choices". They wanted George to shorten his song down, but he refused, and instead ended up boycotting the CMA's. So the CMA's got Alan Jackson to open the show instead, performing his hit cover at the time called "Pop A Top".. After the solos in that song, the band stopped and they started playing the chorus to George Jones' song called "Choices". He got a huge reaction from the crowd, filled with other artists that were aware of the situation and the gesture. After they finished, Alan and his band immediately left the stage, got on their bus, and left the CMA Award show. Alan Jackson appeared on an old country talk show on TNT, and talked a little about why he did it. The host had George Jones call in and briefly talk to Alan on the show. Both of those videos are on KZread.. All you have to do is search "Alan Jackson Choices," and you should immediately find a 2 minute and 51 second video of Alan's performance on the CMA's labeled "Alan Jackson - Pop A Top/Choices" uploaded by KSWheels. And then you should be able to find a 3 minute 10 second video of Alan's interview labeled "Alan Jackson gets praises from George Jones" uploaded by MsKirbmeister. I highly recommend those.. Didn't want to have to explain it, especially at such length, partially out of fear of it not being read or considered. But it's likely that a newbie wouldn't understand the significance of that CMA performance without an explanation.
