They started many of their concerts with this song, or the Immigrant Song, to get the fans hyped up. They loved performing live, but also hated being away from their families for so long. They really loved their fans, & always put everything into their concerts. This song was written & recorded in about 20 minutes, when drummer John Bonham took a break from recording Four Sticks. He was having trouble with Four Sticks, because he was playing with 2 sticks in each hand.

They are absolutely magnificent...especially live!!

That’s Robert Plant and his signature style of dress. So glad you are enjoying this band. In my humble opinion the best rock band….full stop. Enjoy your Zeppelin journey! Btw. The Wanton Song is on Physical Graffiti. A gem!
