You've got to remember, this was 1973, a lot of the appeal of Led Zeppelin was their new raw energy, the rough around the edges wild sound and crazy rocking live shows that we could afford as teens back then. Prior to Zeppelin a lot of what some of us were hearing was television variety show musical acts, our parents music of the 40s and other acts like the partridge family, The Osmonds and tender Beatles love songs. Zeppelin introduced us to our new unbridled youth and in the process laid a foundation for future bands who would follow in their rock and roll footsteps.

I was 12 when the studio version of this song was officially released, then the MSG live version came out in 73. I remember the first time I heard it, leaving the high school parking lot in my buddys gigantic 1969 oldsmobile Ninety-Eight convertible, (i think it seated 16 people lol) he had the car stereo up super loud and I thought it was the greatest song I had ever heard. I bought a guitar not long after that, lol. It was a great time to be young and into rock and roll music.

Trying to imagine a band this good touring the world these days. We'd need to book overseas trips to have any chance of tickets. One of their simplest old school tracks designed to fire up the crowd. Incredible we can just click a mouse and watch this timeless stuff.

That was a very nice review. The truth about the lyrics are little more simple. It’s about a young man who is about to explode with energy because he hasn’t met…well…a nice young lady in a long time. Here’s something cool about this song. You can hear it better on the studio version of the song. Bonzo on the drums is playing lead instrument. Listen to the studio version and you will see what I mean. You’ll see why he was so highly regarded as a percussionist.

@@spoonunit03 No. I have a friend, who I didn’t know back then, has a collection of tickets from all the concerts he attended. It turned out that we were both in the audience at the same concerts several times. I’ve never been a person who saved stuff. The only things I have from my past are some photos that were given me by my Dad about 15 years ago after my parents divorced in 75. One of the few things I do have is a Greatful Dead post card from my jazz musician Uncle in San Francisco who owned an art gallery and produced avant- guarde movies. I worked on one of his movies “Space is the Place,” sci-fi/social commentary by SunRa, the summer I was 18 and I still have the still photos I took while on the set. I’m digitizing those now. Cheers.

The metal genre pretty much grew out of Black Sabbath. to us back then Black Sabbath sounded like a much darker and heavier rock compared the other bands we’ve mentioned. “Iron Man,” was something new and different but, I never heard the classification “heavy metal,” until later. Well, there was Iron Butterfly’s first album called “Heavy,” which had a very dark and heavy psychedelic feel to it that was released in 67 or 68. I still love that album. It’s very unique.
