I was there: the game-changer began with "I Wan to Hold Your Hand". And certainly with "Rubber Soul". Listen to ALL their LPs, beginning with the first, instead of ignoring them based on what others who also don't know feed you. Listen to "A Hard Day's Night," "Beatles for Sale," "Help!".

@@jnagarya519 I have every one of their albums and six books. I have been a fan since I was ten years old and discovered my mom's "Meet The Beatles" record in her collection. I love all of their music and you are correct when you say it was all "game changing" but I am talking about a major turning point in how they went from being a touring band that produced great records to becoming a studio-based group where their individual creativity would also really begin to blossom and flourish and they would no longer be bound by creating music that had to reproduced on the stage. They spent 300 hours in the studio on "Revolver." That was unheard of back then but because they were who they were they could do it. It was a ground-breaking and seminal moment for other great bands to begin to use the studio space that way if only to try and keep up with them. That is what I meant when I said "Revolver was THE game-changer." So now we can have a normal discussion about whether you agree or disagree with my position or you can continue to sound like a pompous, know-it-all blowhard. I'll leave that up to you.

From this track the backwards guitar sound was born. The idea for the backwards solos came about after a tape operator accidentally threaded a tape into the machine the wrong way. Paul had this to say about how it happened - 'It played backwards, and, ‘What the hell is going on?’ Those effects! Nobody knew how those sounded then. We said, ‘My God, that is fantastic! Can we do that for real?’… So that was what we did and that was where we discovered backwards guitar. It was a beautiful solo actually. It sounds like something you couldn’t play.' Paul McCartney from the book , Barry Miles

From Wikipedia- it looks like a George Harrison creation all the way: The song features the then-unique sound of a reversed guitar duet played by Harrison in a five-hour late-night recording session with producer George Martin.[14] Harrison perfected the part with the tape running backwards so that, when reversed, it would fit the dreamlike mood.[15] One guitar was recorded with fuzz effects, the other without. Engineer Geoff Emerick described the meticulous process as "interminable". "I can still picture George hunched over his guitar for hours on end", Emerick wrote in 2006, "headphones clamped on, brows furrowed in concentration."[6]

True. The idea of staying in bed was almost a philosophical thing for him: "Everybody seems to think I'm lazy I don't mind, I think they're crazy Runnin' everywhere at such a speed 'Til they find there's no need" That's definitely a philosophical statement. And the song is simply beautiful. Sonically it's very avant-garde (like a lot of the stuff they made since 1965) and it's obviously very well written and interpretated by John. He was undoubtly an inspired singer-songwriter.

Nope! One of the defining features of ‘I’m Only Sleeping’ is the backwards guitar. This was, in fact, two parts, conceived and performed by George Harrison during a five hour late-night session on 5 May 1966. Harrison first wrote down the notation for the solos he wanted, reversed them, and recorded them twice - one with fuzz effects, and the other unadorned. The idea for the backwards solos came about after a tape operator accidentally threaded a tape into the machine the wrong way. Source: TheBeatlesBible.com

You know that's funny you say it only gets better and they actually have a song called it's getting better it's getting better all the time that is such a good song that's off of Sergeant Pepper's I know you love that it's very interesting cuz it's as if I believe they're playing two chords at the same time with two different guitars it's really beautiful but see you haven't even got through revolver yet there's this one song that's so beautiful that Paul does I think it's one of his best it's called for No One and then of course there is she said she said which is a John Lennon classic it's actually about a famous actor that comes up to him and this famous actor is really really high on LSD presumably and then there's Tomorrow Never Knows oh my gosh Ringo with his Innovative drum beat Good Day Sunshine it's just jam-packed just the revolver album you know it's a funny thing I was just thinking about on the Rubber Soul album The American version of the song I'm looking through you it has a false start on the American version because when they mastered it they didn't realize did it wasn't part of the song So when you hear the English version that doesn't have that those two strummings of the acoustic guitar ok u 2 see u next vid

John Lennon was admittedly pretty lazy and didn't want to be bothered when he was tired. And, Paul McCartney would often call him up, wake him, and tell him he was coming over to work on songs with him. These two were like night & day in terms of personality, but for the longest time, they were good friends. Another Lennon song in this vein is called "I'm So Tired."
