As soon as the view through the windscreen was accompanied with the melancholy piano I was transported back to "the good ole days". I haven't been out in our motor home for a while and this has made me long for a trip. Great stuff Ash.

That was a good maiden outing, very basic and minimal but enjoyable. The aerial shots and selection of music, had a big screen cinematic quality to it. The music was a perfect choice. This is just one of the reasons that your channel stands out from many others. Looking forward to the next one 😀

I find it hilarious that you are in the middle of nowhere and you have a 4G mast yet I live in a fairly large UK town and have no signal over large parts of it!

It is kind of mad to be honest. The 4g signal all over sweden is on point! Our house Internet which uses 4g is faster than my mums house back in UK on a cable 🤣

I’m excited for you mate. I hope you have loads of fun in the new beast. Maybe it is an idea to attach the piece of insulation to the back door that you open second (think it’s the driver side one) so it overlaps the gap and can’t fall out of it or something.

Hi, Just to let you know that your old friend Leon is now living with us in a remote cottage in Lincolnshire. He is happy and well but still a challenge. We can see how much it upset you to let him go but we think you did the right thing. As we are retired, we can spend a lot of time with him. Cheers

That's great news 🙏 it was definitely a tough situation but I tried my best with the resources I had and he's still alive so I take comfort in that. They would have destroyed him if I didn't take him from the pound in Lyon. I hope he has many happy years with you 😊

I think the rescue organisation realised the size of the problem with him and I firmly believe has now escaped the final visit to the vet again as he had been rehomed twice before we got him (nearly two years ago) and returned both times. He is still bonkers and, at the moment, untrainable as he is so food/prey driven. However, he is so loving it makes up for not being able to go on holiday any more. He is still a work in progress, and we hope he will become calmer as he gets older.

I was thinking about you today. My wife is in getting her final cancer treatment. Today the consultant told us the Chemo and radiotherapy had worked and the tumour was gone. I was reminded of when you shared your all clear. Glad all is going well for you

Love your vids, most relaxing slow TV on You tube... I never leave the diesel heater on all night as its dries the air too much for me ! my 14 tog down Duvet is comfortable down to 5c with heat reflection under the memory foam , its actually a bit hot over 10/12 c , or can do a hot water bottle if less than that 5 c then it bloody boiling and I am a low heart rate, low wick cool temp sleeper.

You wouldn't like our cabin mutch then with the burner going, it's like the desert 🤣 the air is very dry here in winter anyway to be fair. Glad you enjoyed it 👍
Nice test run Ash! Thank you for sharing. I tend to wear a t-shirt at the very least when cold weathering in my van. RE: Infrared; most digital cameras (webcam type sensors) ARE infrared - you just need to remove the infrared filter from the lens/sensor assembly. Detailed instructions are just a google away.

Cheers! Yea I think I will pack some thermals next time for sleeping. Although if I leave the heat on will be like the Sahara in there so maybe not 😅 As for cameras, I forgot these have built in led white lights for "night vision" which are just pure crap. Will pick up a couple of the IR led ones as they are so much better. Should only cost about 20 quid for the pair 👍

Interesting video. Honest test without too much b-roll and cooking close-ups. Nice little setup here. Could use some decorative lights just to make it more comfy. Noticed the little baofeng on the dashboard! Keep it up :)

A party size bag of Lays potato chips, Makita cordless coffee maker, and a Yeti cup. Yup! That's all I need. Waiting to receive my Shift Pod someday soon. Of course if a Polar bear came out of the woods, and tried to hump it. Your van would probably be the better camping choice.

I find you very funny and that is a great cozy build you did, however I would use powdered creamer cuz it won't freeze or go to waste and not to liking of straight up coffee, lol! So good to see you are doing well! Continued prayers and love for you ❤! Keep up being, YOU! 😊 I get the moving fast part totally, I'm the same, at work I move so fast that I end up dropping and catching all at the same time, lol
Ash you are in the homeland of trangia how about a trip to the factory/museum to buy a set. I’d recommend the non stick pans and a gas burner. Handy for trips out on the motorbike too. Check out tshensen on here

They are pretty decent vans I think to be fair. My other one I did 20k over about 3 months around Europe and it never missed a beat.
Love the set up Ash. You really did a fantastic job with the van and thats exactly how a van should be set up, simple, functional and comfortable. Love it! I'm getting ready for an Australian summer, bloody hot and 45 odd degrees. Makes being in the van unbearable. Want to swap for a season? 😁

It is crazy to think of a forest fire there and now snow, over here our reservouirs are still empty, seen more rain this week then the whole year temps down to 6C but no snow just rain but had no fires on the moors this year , sorry just a little rant when they keep saying global warming. Edit, you don't need a fridge you have an outdoor one 😊

This place has a pretty mental climate. +30 with fires in the summer and -40 in the winter. Takes some adjusting haha 😅
Well you don't have to go very far to be out in the wilds there 🤣 yes good insulation is definitely the key we love ya little home on wheels but ya kettles not big enough for when we bombard ya van for a cuppa 🤣🤣🤣 it always feels good when your all cosy & toasty curtains shut wherever u are forgot to ask did u get studded tires for little wheels xx

Great to see you out and about. Tip from old George. Shower Caps make ideal boots, shoes storage over shoes and keeps wet snow, mud inside cap. Then empty shower cap. Also very low cost is rechargeable water pump. They come with silicon tubing of around 10mm outside diameter. Easy to run from water bottle in cupboard etc. Ps video on my channel "Motorhome. Ahh yes, I just remembered a trick from the past, put Vaseline around the rubber door seals, so they don't freeze together, otherwise they will tear off.

Never tried vaseline but I did use the "proper" silicone stuff with an applicator and the doors pretty much welded shut 😅 been using wd40 recently and that seems to work very well

You might find WD40 degrades the rubber with prolonged use.

Slightly jealous of the engine pre heater, even at temperatures above 0 my T5 takes a million years to get warm.

I know what you mean, my iveco was a piss take especially here in the freezing. I think the Chinese are making a diesel heater variant now that has a coolant heat exchange built in. Might be worth a look

@@LostInEurope I’ll have to take a look, I currently have a Lavaner pro 2kw for when I’m sleeping in it but I’d like to do trips in to colder climates and I know starting it could be a challenge and driving in the cold won’t be much fun.

Might be worth getting your T5 looked at mine starts fine if I leave turning the key until about 5 seconds after the glow plug light goes off, the glow plugs don’t go off when the light goes out they stay on after starting to help keep emissions down, also it should warm up fairly quick if the cooling system is operating correctly and have a decent heater, I was pleasantly surprised how good the heater is in mine. They are built to operate in Northern Europe and Russia etc !

@@LostInEurope Yeah, the 2kw might struggle at that. I built a planar 2kw into a case for my 6.4m Ducato in case there's no LPG available. Manages well, but haven't been in extreme cold.

Hello there I think your videos are ace ! . I have a question , I also live in a van and was wondering how do you have enough battery life to leave the diesel heater on all night ? . I have a solar set up with leisure battery and obviously isn't enough to run the diesel heater for very long . I also bought a ecoflow 740wht hours and that will only run the diesel heater for 6 hours max . So I was wondering how you keep your s running throughout the night in the winter time ? .

Yes we are in north Sweden 😊 haha its always a challenge when you need the vehicle for multiple uses. I've seen a few cool drop in bed systems where you just have to fold the seats flat and chuck it in. Might be worth a look

Blokes with ponytails gives me the creeps. Not casting aspersions boss, but i just can't " get mi bonce round it ". (Pun intended.) Did a bit of travelling round northern Europe in the 70's. What's the pre-heater bud, the one you put on for 15 minutes... what's that doing?

It's a diesel powered heater that circulates the coolant around the engine before you start it so it takes the strain off the components when it's mega cold. Some diesels wont even start at all wityout them once it drops below like -20. A bonus to that is it also heats up the heater matrix as its on the same loop so you get instant warm air from the blowers when you start up 😊

Soft stirs & flippers should be ok. It's the metal stuff that's the problem ,you shouldn't eat alu bits caused by the metal flipper scraping the soft alu.

@@LostInEurope I have an iveco daily 2005, had so much work done on it! Welding leaf springs. Love it though. Built it from nothing. Bought s touring caravan after I built it(long story) but cant bring myself to part with the iveco.😁
