First GTR conversion fender DONE! Sky-gea build: Part 6

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Happy Holidays everybody! I've been hard at work over the past few weeks trying to wrap up the shaping on these plugs so we can get into the fiberglass stage. Unfortunately I managed to finally catch Covid during this video and so was out of action for a few days but I couldn't leave you all without a video for this week so I pushed through and made some really good progress on these fenders.
This video marks the end of the exterior shaping on the first of the 2 fenders and all that's left now is to tidy up a few of the inside edges and then we're ready for mould making!
Enjoy the video.
Head over to the Tofu Auto Works website to see the fiberglass parts I offer.

Merry Christmas everybody! (Few days late but still good!) We're reaching a really good stage now with these fenders and I'm finishing up this second fender as we speak, by the next episode we'll be ready for primer! Then we can start the mould making. As always be sure to switch on subtitles by pressing the CC button, I've added a few extra languages for those of you who are more comfortable reading in other languages, hopefully this will help answer some of the questions you have! Enjoy the video!

Everyone else has to do the “influencer” type of builds and narration. Never change your process or style to fit in with the rest of the creators.

Thank you so much mate! Before I started doing all this I had a degree in mechanical engineering and a few years experience in panel beating and spray painting, but most if it is just from a hands-on kiwi attitude and over a decade of slowly gaining new skills. There's still massive room for improvement but I'll always keep my standards higher than my abilities and that's what drives me.

In my experience, most shops value "good enough" and speed wayy more then the level of care and pride taken in the craft that Tofu auto works shows. Taking the time to make every line visually perfect is only present in passion projects or premium shops. So if he's driven enough to work himself for his self improvement and keeps the standard high, I'm all for it.

@@hyrumdetton12 it all depends where you go and what you pay. i'm speaking on behalf of what i've seen obviously. where i'm from the premium shops won't hire me because of criminal history that's well in the past now. but the rum of the mill shops- where kelly takes her corolla or where steve takes his triton, the shops that usually do insurance work. their not bad. but not excellent either. they only care about the short term, if it looks good now, polish it and send it

It might be a good idea to make a mold of these fenders. They're works if art. If you made them out if a composite you could easily replace a smashed fender with a new one rather than having to completely redo the body work due to it cracking all the way to the metal.

Yup! It can also leach through many different types of older paints. It can be the worst thing in the world when you finish a respray and then down the line the sharpie marks show up through the paint. These fenders will be heading straight to the skip as soon as the moulds are made though, so there were a lot of shortcuts and very bad practices that I was able to get away with. (that vent's not going to do much if these were the final fenders haha)

When you started progress on the passenger fender I was thinking to myself "I wonder how much money this guy spends on body filler". Then the closed caption came up about reading all the fun body filler comments and I thought, _"yeah maybe I won't write a comment about that."_ haha Edit: I realise that I've just wrote a comment about it lol

@14:22 yes indeed, I was wondering out of curiosity how much are this fender plugs weighting right now with all that material XD You're doing great btw, I can't wait to see the result :)

Get well soon! And don't take paxlovid if it's offered, the Moderna one (molnupiravir) is safer and better. But probably better on your own, either way.

Super projet !!! ( Comme le précédent !) mais encore un épisode entier sur le ponçasse ?! C'est ennuyeux au possible !! Je reviendrais quand il y aura du nouveaux !!!

I would love to see your ideas for an older Mercedes.. SEC or SEL. Maybe 300E or 190E.
