Cyberpunk Miata Build: Making Custom Turbofans. Part 1 of 2
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In this video we get back to work on the Cyberpunk Miata, this time starting on a new pair of wheels for the rear. I will show you how I made my original steel wheels and fiberglass covers as well as go over the process of designing and prototyping a new set of turbofans with the aid of CAD modelling and 3D printing.
Enjoy the video.

@@TofuAutoWorks your modesty fits the idea of you being a 'regular kiwi', but the quality and inventiveness of your creations show that you have 'irregular', outstanding talent! The degree of enthusiasm and admiration that your viewers show in the comments should be enough of an indicator to illustrate that. I really loved seeing such a practical application of the advances in technology of the last thirty years. Where carbon fiber turbofans were solely in the domain of factory race teams in the nineties, they have since trickled down to end up within reach of your average, 'regular kiwi' 😉 Excited to see how things come to fruition in the next episode!

I once travelled in NZ, and in a span of 5 hours I experienced all 3 types of downpour. From a hailstorm, to snow while up the mountains, and then to rain when I descended. Amazing. 😂

Give it a shot! You can pick up something like the Ender 3 for under $200, and with KZread's 3D printing community I doubt there is any topic on 3D printing (and even CAD software) that there aren't multiple tutorials for. I have been distracted with other projects recently, but I got into it wit ZERO knowledge, even handicapped by being a bit of an idiot, and was genuinely surprised by how fast I started picking things up. You might be surprised how handy even the most basic skills can be when you just need a spacer or bracket or something and can just sit down and build it. Plus, the community is amazing about sharing the files for stuff they already designed. (go look at GitHub) Spend a few minutes whenever you can watching a tutorial and trying it, and suddenly you're printing stuff. It's handy, and it's pretty fun. If I could do it, darn near anybody can do it!
And just like that one guy makes turbo fans come back in style!!! So rad!
I found the video therapeutic. Hearing the birds chirping and your dog photo bombing your video. No dialog, which forces you to read the closed captions. Genius way to keep the viewers eyes on the video.
I love the quality and feel of your videos, and the final results too. Very inspiring, quite literally
Epic, dont think ive ever seen anyone else do totally custom wheels like this before on youtube. WIll look really sick when theyre finished, the turbofan idea is awesome too. Looking forward to the next vid
Wow! I just stumbled across your channel the other day. EXTREMELY impressive stuff you have created. Now I have yours and Marty T’s as my NZ connection. Looking forward to future works. Thank you. Nova Scotia strong.
Welcome to the soothing sounds of the tuba brought to you by Tofu Auto Works 😅
This is one of my favorite builds on KZread. The other is the Roadster MacroMachines built and JunkyardDaves Hellcat Magnum. You've been giving me inspiration to do a cyberpunk build.
I love the fact you put descriptions in the CC subtitles even though there wasn't audio versions A+💯
Amazing episode as always 👏 your so brave! always willing to try new things and going the extra mile to learn the right way to do things. top job mate
I love such wide tires. my compliments for the work. I'm looking forward to the second part.
the notch for the airplug adds a lot to the design really cool work
You can’t leave it there! Car modifying at another level……mind blown! 🤯👍🏼👊🏼
The tires are so thick it looks like a formula car, cool! The wheels without covers are also good!
Started to get a bit nervous at the ned of the episode, since there was no sanding. But you managed to get it in, what a relief! Cured my sanding itch for this week. Sheers! also fantastic job on the wheels, is going to look mad, and those tires look mad!

Great project and great video as always! Can't wait to check out part 2! For the 3D printer, you might consider trying hairspray instead of a glue stick. In my experience, the glue comes out very chunky and doesn't leave a smooth/even surface for your first layer to bond too. Hairspray, like spray paint, gives a nice even coating and leaves less of a mess.

With a PEI coated metal bed, extra adhesive shouldn't be needed. Just wash the bed with dish soap once in a while and wipe down with isopropyl alcohol every couple prints. May need a scrub with a melamine foam sponge to remove some oxidization.
Another great installment of thoughtful, creative, skilled fabrication.
you know i just saw a guy post something on reddit bragging about making a cover for the wheels that does this, the issue is they weren't as robust as this is. this build is getting crazier and crazier and i love it.
i was thinking, "what if they were made out of carbon fiber" the whole video. you amaze me every new video man.
This guy is the equivalent of those Asian agriculture guys, but with cyberpunk cars. Absolute mad genius 🙌😤
That sanding sound was so relaxing 😌
I really love the "there was no warning saying I shouldn't do this" mindset
Magnificent, Gorgeous, Amazing! I spent the whole video sitting in front of the screen with my mouth open, every video of yours is a visual orgasm for an engineer!!!
those wheels are terrifying
Dude, everytime you come out with a vid i end up being seriously impressed with your skills. Amazing stuff
Damn, that's some nice wheels you made right there! And I thought a 0.8mm nozzle was big on my printers, that 1mm nozzle must eat filament like crazy! Nice work man, keep it going! I love the video's :)

Cheers mate. Yeah this printer is a beast. Each one of those turbofans was a little over 1kg and took about 13 hours each to print. So I'm almost going through two 1kg rolls every day
As a wannabe coachbuilder i love your videos but crafting your own wheels? Now this is next level!
Te felicito amigo Me emociona realmente ver tus videos. Todo lo haces con una perfección insuperable me considero fan de tu trabajo y creatividad. De los pocos canales de youtube que valen la pena seguir Abrazos y saludos desde México.

Absolutely great !! As always stunning job ! Can't wait to see the final result..

So much fascinating car building content with own hands and much love and knowledge. But also SO MUCH HEAVY RAIN Every single video… 😮😮😮 He must live in the middle of a big rain forest anywhere. Or at least Scotland??? Still always entertaining to watch! 👍👍👍

Really enjoy this content, hardly anything like it on YT! Look forward to more videos!
Amazing work as always man. Really looking forward to seeing how it comes together with that carbon fiber…

PERFECT! There is no other better word than that to describe it!
I'm not normally a fan of lights/neons, but some LED's mounted behind and between each fin would give an awesome look at night 😎
Отлично! 👍 И как всегда серия кончилась на самом интересном месте! 🔥 Жду продолжения! 🤝
This thing has a killer stance. The look is there, to anyone actually trying to use 10-12 wide wheels in the front, as soon as they are on and your driving down the road, you now get to learn about scrub radius, and how it affects handling. Anyone who has done this knows how it drives, Every groove in the road, every bump, the way the car is trying to rip the steering wheel out of your hand.
Great work on the wheels, they're wide and look great!
I had to choose between sleeping on a school night or having a fun time on a school night, and you already know what i chose.
Man your on to it, I like how you can always think of a smart way to improvise with wateva your doing. Your a smart one bro 👍🏽
would like to give the videos more likes than just one. Can´t wait for the next on. And the NZ weather is perfect 😁 I visit NZ ones in 2017 and miss this beautiful place till today

Awesome!!! Thanks for the video bro! Cant wait for part 2! 😎👍🏼
Seeing you doing tire work with the lift was funny :)
Very nice, and I saw the Minecraft icon also, another very nice.😎
Awesome work as always. I would suggest against PLA (regarding the small heat resistance it has as a material), in favor of ABS or PC nylon etc.
Saw the Stuff article about the build, best of luck for the Hot Wheels competition!

nice build..... Thanks for taking the time to make the video and share it....
Aw hell yeah, I love turbofan rims.
