Cyberpunk Miata Build: Carbon Fiber Turbofans. Part 2 of 2
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Finishing up the 3D printed turbofans by covering them in carbon fiber, as well as designing the flat covers to go on the top. In this video I experimented with a new pattern that changes appearance depending on the angle of the light hitting it, giving an animated "glitchy" effect when in motion.

@@thechadwick22 I definitely love Kaneda's bike but what I enjoy is designing and making new things so I probably wont build any replicas of something that already exists on this channel. But I would 100% think about making some sort of cyberpunk bike in the future.
Glitch pattern was great. Light hitting them as they spin is unreal. Great work!
Hi everyone! I know these videos have taken a little longer to come out so thank you for waiting. This ended up being my longest video ever so if you want to skip through please at least make sure you see the clip of it rolling at 54:05. I'm really proud of how this effect came out and this was basically 3 weeks of work for only a few seconds of video 😂 Based on your feedback I decided to leave everything in and give you the option to watch as much as you want. I know some of you just like having something to help you fall asleep to haha.

I love these long episodes! And your ride looks sick! The deep dishes up fron and the aero's out back look amazing together! EDIT: Hmmm... maybe you're right and the aero's should go in the front... I don't know... both look cool!
@TofuAutoWorks

@@akumabito2008 Cheers man. Function wise you'll always see turbo fans on the front because those are the brakes that are doing the most work and so you want to keep them cool. But that would probably be the only functional consideration I've made on this whole car so I'm tempted to do the opposite and keep them on the rear just to mess with people. Like my air vent that leads straight into a filler cap but it's fine because the cap is fake and there's nothing behind it.

Great work as ever!! Keep it up.. I think it looks a bit too low on the rears compared to the front, I’d raise it about 20mm would help balance the look and also help those rear wheels fit within the arches.. but that’s just my opinion 😅
dude is building the darkest roughest car while living in green rolling hills... what a contrast to be had. respect!

I was surprised by how good that pattern looks in the sun! Great stuff, but when we're all sick of seeing turbofans on every build over the next few years, remember you and Tim started this trend. :D

Cheers mate! I hope I don't end up starting a new trend that we all get sick of in a couple years haha.
Agreed, the flat plates look better at the front. Such a good build! It's been very fun to see how this progresses!
This is not just experience. This is lots of lots of talent combine with experience wow. 👏
Every time one of these comes out I'm like "There's no way I'll watch a whole hour of this..." and every time I watch the whole hour and at the end am like "I wish that was longer..."
The glitch pattern looks so good when it's rolling!!

I can almost guarantee that sema will be filled with glitch carbon next year; it looks sick!
If only the guy who is building his own real life Quadra V-Tech knew how to create custom parts which don't look like they will fall apart when he turns the engine on. These looks amazing and even feel heavy just by the sound they make when you put them on the table.
This build and the other guy building a Quadra v Tec are awesome
Mans not wearing gloves working the carbon you're a stronger man than I. I'd be crying from itchiness after 5 minutes of that
I think next time, you should put the peel-ply on first, then use a roller on it. I was kind of yelling at the TV, asking why, lol 😂

That carbon effect in the sunlight is incredible
This car is a true piece of art no matter how you look at it. It could perfectly be used in films like: 'Akira' or 'Ghost in the Shell'.... Awesome job!!
They really complete the look
😱That glitch pattern looks amaZeballs! 🤩
I love every minute of your videos mate I think the red light in the back needs a cover 😁
Every other auto mods channel should take note and be afraid that ToFu may show up at a car show near by.
Am I the only one that got WINAMP install vibes from those goats? 😀
Great Sunday!!!
As usual, totally worth the wait. Loving the spinning carbon effect as well. The amount of work you put into sharing the videos with us is totally appreciated by all who view. Thanks much
So awesome! Loved it when the light hit them and it was like they were illuminated piece by piece! Impressive work.
That effect does indeed look gorgeous. Mind-blowing, even!
You put so much effort and time in small details. I am amazed and I love to watch. Next time you should make the covers at least the same diameter like the rim. Now they look smaller than the front wheels. But that is really the only thing I could criticize.
The 3D printed jigs for cutting the shapes was *face melts* so good. That press-fit moment with the centre piece ... damn. Chubbed.
Honestly these looks perfect on it
I think that if I ever hit the lottery, I'd pay for someone to build me a custom car from cyberpunk. Their designs are so cool, even if a little impractical.
The light reflecting off the mesh/strips is dope. Giving me ideas for some stuff I’m gonna try on my project…
Got to be the coolest Miata in the world
Turns out better than expected! The glitch pattern effect is awesome!
Everything that you do is absolute art, my dude! And every part that you put out is a masterpiece! Loved the longer video, and I wish there was more, fully realizing how much work goes into these. You're an inspiration and you have my utmost respect! 🤘
spray adhesive for tack changed my life
That jigsaw effect with the CF looks amazing. Plus it'll pop at different angles of light. Really cool stuff.
The Glitch-Pattern is SICK! And glad I watched till the very end - was just about to mention turbo fans in the back are kind of "useless" XD
Heck I love sitting back and learning parts fabrication stuff from these vids. I know this thing isn't a performance focused build, but I'm kinda glad you swapped the fans to the front at the end, knowing roughly how they work
as always, very cool to se what you make, and an absolute joy watching your process (including the bits that don't work as hoped)
I love your work space, quite but with the background of nature at times, perfect.
i recently actually saw your miata get recreated by someone in a game. it was cool to see
Doesn't need background music, don't even need no words. Just doing something genuinely interesting. Keep it up, my dude
Flys going crazy
absolutely gorgeous i wish all cars looked like this you have done and amazing job love the new wheel rims
Amazing! The glass lay up is genius!
Really impressive craftmanship!
Huge fan of the carbon fiber camo pattern, never seen anyone do that before, it looks sick!
I really hope Glitch Carbon will catch on. I'm not a material engineer, but maybe it could be made to work like Oriented Strand Boards work for wood fibres? But even if it doesn't, it looks very cool, and if it doesn't detract from the pieces rigidity it would be a very cool cosmetic addition to some body panels.
your creativity and vision are mind boggling and your ingenuity to overcome the technical challenges of your creations is outstanding. what you can achieve with limited resources on a garage is remarkable. well done and Thank you for another very entertaining and interesting morning
These wheels turned out truly amazing
Oh wow. What a change to cars look. GG
I would love for you to get exposure at SEMA with this build. So cool.
Trolled us hard at the end 😆 Well done lad, well done.
Your obsession with this art project is truly remarkable. I know about hand-made composite work, as I've mentioned in the past, and must give you a huge hat tip for doing thes projects. Thansk so much for sharing with us. I look forward to seeing more. Cheers.
That glitch effect is sooo mesmerizing. The only thing missing on this car is a massive rear diffuser to complete the cyberpunk look

The amount of dust you make must be enough for a small dessert😂 I like the design, looks sweet as!
Ganz wunderbar anzuschauen, mit welcher Geduld und genauigkeit du arbeitest. Danke für die Unterhaltung
As a bit of constructive criticism I would've cut out the flat pieces of carbon in a circle slightly larger than the end goal and used the corners as pieces for the glitch carbon design instead of making the corners unusable in the end
@TofuAutoWorks
6 ай бұрын
This is actually the main reasoning behind the glitch carbon pattern. I had a lot of offcuts already from other pieces and I didn't want to throw those offcuts away and I wanted to use them but not have the part look like it was made out of scraps. The reason I left the carbon sheets as squares was so I could use the corners for my mounting tabs and also keep the others as just spare pieces of carbon for my stock pile. Always good to have some epoxy soaked carbon lying around.
Incredible work as always. I was a bit sceptical of the glitched carbon until I saw those wheels spin. Side note: recently I learned of the existence of the mid-engine 1984 Honda Civic and for whatever reason, it reminded me of you and your work. It’d be interesting to see a future build take some aesthetic cues from it.
Very, very cool, looking forward to seeing this thing out and driving.
Finally understand the glitch effect after seeing it drive. Very cool!!!
The wizard is back ⚡⚡
Crazy talented man, you make it look so effortless
While I don't know that I would have made all of the same aesthetic choices, the end result is absolutely fantastic. It perfectly captures the cyberpunk aesthetic. I wasn't at all convinced by the glitch carbon look until you showed the wheels movin in the sunlight and then I saw how amazing they look. FANTASTIC build, one of the absolute best on YT and by far the best one man build I have seen. Excited to see where you go next!
Keep the fans on the back, the balance is 👌🏻 such great work!

@@TofuAutoWorks oh damn, that shows my ignorance, I didn’t realise that was the case! Either way it’s incredibly impressive. It’s just such an amazing build. I’ve seen lots of ‘apocalyptic’ builds that are just an excuse to not finish the thing. You have gone above and beyond on this one!
The level of detail and effort making these wheels is ridiculous! The results are outstanding though! What’s next? Mouldings for around the rear tail light bar?? 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I know this is more of an art piece, but something like a low boost kraken kit or rotrex would add so much to the driving experience even just with the change in sound. The glitch effect came out amazing, never seen anything like it. Awesome craftsmanship.
