Great video, I just started doing this today but I’m shaving down those inside fins, part of the lower air box and opening up the hole in the stock air box a bit, as well as deleting the silencer. I don’t know if it’ll have any performance gains but I do know it will allow some more air in especially from the front nostrils.

took me a long time to find this lid. But a LS1 style lid could easily be adapted using the same ducting i used for mine. I was just stubborn and wanted the ducting to be straight

@@4x4ManiacBadTimeGarage if it will clear the hood (not sure if it will clear 93-97 hoods), it should perform better. More direct path of air.

quite a few. squeezing some more power out of it while fixing some gaskets is current goal. New clutch is next after that maybe some weight reduction too

my LS1 car already has one. It is also in winter storage until May now unfortunately my ls1 is also already dyno tuned for the intake/full exhaust. I have a video of that from May 2023 on this channel

Where were you able to find that whisper lid? I imagine it was used due to them not being produced anymore. I went ahead and got the SLP lid meant for the LS 4th gens, but i made it work. Also did the air box mod that frees up a ton of airflow under the filter tray.

I got the whisper lid from a gentleman on LS1TECH. he ls swapped his v6 and had it layin around I had a wanted post out for one for about a year before I had a guy say he had one.

Unfortunately no air is sucked through the nostrils on the standard hood at all! Firehawk and WS6 Ram Air hoods do it! On the Base hood you will have to cut holes in the metal base, or You do the cold air mod, by removing the angled plates on the airfilter base lid. I did that so the engine can gain som flowing air pushed up by the air dam ;-)

That mod actually does more than most would think. I ran data logs before and after the mod, and the intake air temps pretty much stay consistent with the ambient air temp at all times. Definitely frees up the restriction as well.
