I think this channel has had the most graceful transition of on screen personalities I've seen on youtube. Nothing since MatPat's retirement has felt abrupt and I don't find myself thinking the channel's not the same without him; I can still hear MatPat's voice through the writing, it still feels like the same brand I subscribed to.

What I loved was how enthusiastic matpat was, and the new theorists really have that same full-send enthusiasm for whatever mystery they’re tackling. They were 100% the right choices. Lee, you’re doing a great job!

What's crazy to me is our lovely new hosts only have one channel to deal with, HOW DID MATT MANAGE IT ALL, I think the change to spread out the workload will ultimately INCREASE the quality of the videos put out.

MatPat managed it all by sleeping 3h a night every night for about 10 years or so, that's how. And also Steph handled the business side of things, while MatPat managed the creative side. And also, editors, additional writers, creative managers, really investing the money the channels generated back into Theory Inc. so they could keep expanding and making bigger and better projects.

I think it's always been this way, honestly. The joke has always been that Matt has been pressured with all these channels, but in reality, these people have been here all along. There have been multiple creative directors and different editors for each and every one of the channels, and I do think it's great that Matt is finally letting them get the recognition they deserve.

This is the first Film Theory I've watched that didn't have Mat in it and I *genuinely* thought "Huh, Mat sounds a little different. Wait, That's Lee!!! That's so cool!" You can absolutely tell that the transition since Mat's retirement has gone so smoothly, I can still hear Mat's voice in the tone of the videos and Lee adds his own spice and personality in a way that doesn't feel even the slightest bit jarring. Team Theorist, you are all so incredibly amazing

I think the song is supposed to be Guby's view on the kids? Like he doesn't care how old the kids are or any little details like that. Its just as long as they are "good" that's who he wants. As long as they respond the way he wants them too and keep thinking about him that's "good" enough.

yeah im with everyone else. this channel out of all of them had the best adjustment to the new host. his voice, inflection, speech pattern, and how he generally presents all feels authentic and 100% on brand. congrats man.

100% thought something would change once Matt retired. Nothing changes. This is still pretty good and keeps me interested the entire time and makes me want to watch videos all the way through every single time.

I think the nature documentary are a bit like how Guby sees the viewers/kids, they are just lamb to slaughter, just to bring him power. I think the song title "any little girl that's a nice little girl is the right little girl for me" means Guby perfers the kids who play along, only kids who don't believe or talk out get kidnapped, Guby likes the kids who bilndly believe in him, giving him power, he scolds and punishes the kids who disobey, saying things like "only speak when spoken to" (basically "good kids" are obedient and naive while "bad kids" talk when they're not supposed to and don't believe in him (lessing his power))

Real 😭 I love all things creepy and I'm rarely phased but whenever that mask was shown in this video I had to look away, that's some creepy ahh shi

I would never actually look for any of these freaky online mysteries (or be able to solve them, honestly) but I really love watching u guys do a deep dive about them

I was so nervous when matpat retired because I'm very weird about KZread videos I watch. I was so used to the style of the scripts, and how the videos are laid out. I usually leave them on as background noise or when I'm at work, to mindlessly listen to and enjoy. It makes me immensely happy the transition isn't as difficult as I imagined it would be and can still enjoy my favorite channels on KZread. All of the new theorists are doing a great job!

the new era actually has an interesting shift, with each theory channel having their own host means you can tell which theory channel you're listening to by voice alone. sure it will take months, maybe years before the number of episodes is high enough to where that is fully true. but it is a neat thing to notice

@@johnzo7948the point about the second part of my comment was more that if you had a randomized theory list it would still mostly be matpat across all 4 channels and it will take awhile for the new hosts to start taking up larger and larger parts of the channel histories to be able to have their different voices have the impact to scale. Though yes i did notice they all do seem to keep the 'theory cadence." but this is likely due to exposure and intentional mimicry

Idk about you but I feel like this guy really fits film theory. His voice, personality, the little picture of him that comes up sometimes, it fits.

This is my first Film Theory since MatPat retired, I haven’t watched last weeks because I do intend to see Kung Fu Panda 4 eventually and wanted to avoid potential spoilers, so I haven’t seen that video. I want to say that while it is sad that MatPat is no longer hosting the channels, I think we have a great host with Lee, somehow you just feel like you've been doing this for ages already. I like all the new hosts, but I think that Lee has definitely adapted the quickest to the role of host and I'm really looking forward to more.

I feel like people who thought the channels would die after mat left didn’t really know how things worked. I mean the creative directors had been writing the scripts for months. The only thing to really have changed is who’s voice is speaking. It’s the same team and the same editors but if anything the new voices give new individuality to the channels. Each channel actually feels like it’s own sibling in the theory family instead of different puppets one man runs. It’s really cool

Hey Lee! Just want to say, you are doing well with taking over film theory! If you ever need an idea for a video, you could make a theory about Will Trent! Here are some of my reasons why you should make a theory about this show: 1. Everything has been very well put together, and there can be multiple theories about this show, considering almost every character has their own uniqe lore and path. 2. The show is currently at a cliff hanger, so you could make a good video about what you at film theory thunk will happen next 3. Again, the lore is there! You could make an entire episode simply just on will when he was at a foster home. 4. You guys could make an awesome short just about how to take care of Betty. Overall, you Lee, and the people behind film theories should make a Will Trent episode. But hey, that's just a theory, A COMMENT THEORY! Aaaaaaaaaand cut! Keep up the good work, by the way. You have so far made a great first film theory with Matpat gone. We will miss him, but so far, Film theory is still one of my favorite channels!

i havent watched any of the theorist channels since matpat retired. rolled up to this video and that "welcome to film theory" fit so well its insane this dude was the perfect casting choice for the new host

thought the switch from matpat would be super jarring and it'd take me ages to get used to it but it feels the same. it invokes the same feelings as ol' mat. i like this new host

I actually watched the video on some other guys channel before I was like “does film theory have a video on this” and I was so happy when I found out yall do because the guy I watched was trying to make theories and while they made sense, I had to see if film theory could make some sense as well

I had a thought that maybe Güby also represents the control that TV or media in general has over children how there personality’s are directly influenced by what the see and consume but idk it just a thought loved the video!

I used to never watch film theory but I love Lee’s theorizing voice so I think I’ll stick around :)

I think all the new hosts fit each channel they’re hosting. Mat Pat was obviously awesome but he passed the torch gradually so it went well. Keep up the great theories!

I found this terrifying (in my opinion) 30 second animation, called "Fungus in the air", its very weird and spooky, very unnerving,you shouldent talk about, because its very short, but i reccomend it! Great job on this Theory!

I really really hope there is a video about Kid Cosmic one of the greatest animated shows on netflix and it has lots of lore like Erodius and Fantos ties.

Oh my goodness. I was a bit hesitant to watch Game Theory or Film Theory or any of the other Theory channels after MatPat left. (I dislike change and expected a complete new channel) but honestly this flows so smoothly the same way it used to. And I must say, I lowkey love the way your voice sounds. Can’t wait to watch some more film theories!

Well, I’ve officially resubscribed, I stopped when it felt like it was becoming all lore and no science like what it used to be, but the recent videos from you have felt like they have an appeal separate from that, and gotta say I’m liking it a lot!

Whenever i hear about trapped kids in a horror setting i immediately think of using fire to set them free, but i don't think that'll help with absorption being the cause

Is it possible to change individual letters though? I've seen plenty of people change the color but its always one color per person.

Game theory used to be my favorite channel, but because of you Lee, Film is my favorite (I love analog horror)

bro I saw the 1 month time stamp and when I heard Lee's voice instead of Mat's my mind was blown I cant believe its already been a month. The new hosts are doing amazing.

At first I thought I'll probably stop watching game theory after Matpat retired. But I realised all that changed is the host, and the videos are still the same. I still love this channel

17:45 Okay so since the title of the song is “Any little girl. That’s a nice little girl. Is the right little girl for me.” I think there’s a big reason for why this was chosen more than any other songs. Thinking back to the 3 main kids we saw and/or heard, there was 2 girls and 1 boy. We heard one of the girls interrupt Guby ( assuming it’s Michaela since she’s the youngest and younger kids after 8-9 years old are more disruptive since they’re so talkative well most of the them at least ) And then Guby had his temper tantrum and took her immediately afterwards. That being a bad little girl to him. I mean it doesn’t make too much sense to kidnap a girl who seems bad to you but atp it’s a fictional character so 🤷🏾‍♀️ And i don’t think Sofia ever tried to interrupt but possibly slipped up, either that or she never attempted to interrupt him and he still got her regardless but thought of her as the right one. Andrew.. idk honestly. He’s not a girl and could just be a victim to Guby so…. Yeah i overthought it. But it’s pretty cool ngl

Ima be honest I was scared Matt patts retirement and the new hosts but man you all are doing so well that I still get the giddy excitement that I get from this channel in first place thank you for the film theories and I’m glad you took over
