I think Gabriel and the Intruder are not competing forces, but the same one. You had mentioned the holy trinity and I think Gabriel is meant to be the Father, the Intruder the Spirit, and Adam the Son. I think the Intruder uses children to create and spread alternates to do Gabriel's bidding and at the same time try and find the right vessel to be Gabriel's son which turned out to be Adam.

@@caternity4621 I was actually under the impression that the entire TV and US-state stuff isn't actually them being under Gabriel's control, rather just a super worn-down national attitude to the fact that there is no way to defeat the alternates, and there is no way to avoid them, so save yourself the effort and do not respond to callers, and do not help people who are being attacked. Though, I've held this opinion since Vol. 1 and 2, but not necessarily maybe after Vol. 333 and 4. But I think the theory that the TV and US stuff isn't necessarily them being under an influence's control fits the theory that Gabriel and the Intruder aren't competing somehow.

Series is still my favorite, the Mandela catalogues is the only series that seems to keep me awake at night and actually makes me feel like something is out to get me. Can't believe this indie series made by a single man scares me more so then the multitude of horror movies made by teams of people with hundreds of cinematography technologies under a company, only story that made me feel remotely scared was smile and that movie seemed like it had actual thought out into it. Also these theories are also really interesting, story goes from completely scary to feeling like a old history documentary I would be watching at 11 pm, keep up the good work matpat!

Here is something I noticed in the Mandela Cataloge I noticed the religions that the government are heavily discouraged were religions with the devil and demons, and ways to get rid of them. Because of that, my theory is that Gabriel is trying to eliminate possible threats to his alternates.

While I understand your thought process I’m also gonna have to say no. It is kinda shown that while the alternates might have some power over the government that the power they do have is minimal. I honestly think matpat kinda forgot the part in the T.H.I.N.K principle where the screen glitches out after the “K1LL Y0URS3LF” message and it gets replaced with “KNOW YOUR PLACE IN REALITY”, showing that it’s not the actual advice, and instead it was just briefly replaced by an alternate, cause they affect technology (something that is shown repeatedly in the series) Anyways don’t know if that was intelligible, kinda lost the train of thought there for a moment. What I actually meant to comment was that in this series the alternates corrupted and hijacked religion. Meaning that by worshipping one of the major religions you are actually just following the alternates teachings. Being religious is exactly what they’d want. The advice to avoid religion is legitimate.

The reason I think that is because alternates haven't been studied or researched by the government, they simply assume and used basic precautions for intruders. (i.e lock all entrances, don't communicate, and use force when necessary). It is bad advice for alternates but it isn't on purpose. The government has little to no knowledge on them. Other videos from the government from the series (like the Metaphysical awareness disorder video) is good advice and could work (i.e staying away from religion).

Another thing I love about TMC is the names of the characters - Adam, EVElin, Mark, Jonah, Caesar, Jude/Judas, Ruth. It’s not as subtle as most of the themes in the series but a noteworthy one

Correction: O'Brien was Gabriel in disguise. Same voice actor, his voice even started to slip a bit into Gabriel when he told Dave to stay where he was.

The point made at 13:29 could also back up the idea that intruder (6) and Gabriel are on opposite sides to an even further extent. In the context of Christianity, babies/children who are k1lled are considered inherently pure and are sent to heaven. I considered not publishing my theory but i think Adam IS the intruder. I know it wouldn't make sense but i still feel like that might be the case

That wouldn’t make sense at all because adam was abducted by the intruder. Unless the intruder is a time traveler I can’t see that happening. Though maybe unconsciously adam took over as the intruder when he grew older.

Thats also one of mat's points Edit: Also if we think that adam and thereby the intruder being an alternate he would have knowledge beyond human comprehension which would theoretically (film theoretically) make it completely plausible.

@@Hylj3z I don’t see how he would be able to time travel though. I personally think the intruder just uses the Stanley program on tv to abduct the kids randomly so gabriel can’t get them as alternates for himself. I feel like adam was a very special kid and alternate now. Since the intruder and gabriel both want him at any cost. I think adam might be the alternate that is more powerful then any other alternate for whatever reason and not cause of time travel but i can be wrong!

@@adammorin2955 i believe that the intruder and gabriel are not opposing forces at all, their powers actually work in tangent with each other. The intruder is able to take control of any screen, while gabriel is seemingly able to create alternates. This explains the stanley program as the intruder makes the children think of an imaginary character, then gabriel causes that character to be manifested as a real world alternate. Here's the cycle that I've thought up; the intruder causes children to think of an imaginary friend, then kidnaps the child, gabriel creates an alternate that takes the place of that child, that alternate grows up believing itself to be human until finally, it learns about the fact that it is an alternate and becomes the sort of alternate that we saw in vol. 333 until it copies to body of a human. THIS is why adam is special. Adam, as the intruder states in vol. 4, is not the real adam. He is one of the sleeper alternates that was planted in a human family. However, even after learning that he could be an alternate, he maintains his human form, seemingly because he "followed the shepherd", making him an extremely valuable asset, as he can become a sort of "second intruder", as he can corrupt others while maintaining the facade of being a human. This also explains the alternates in vol. 2. They were sent to make adam recognize that he is an alternate, adding an entirely new meaning to the line "wake up adam, do not make me wake the others."

If by Adam you mean the real Adam (who was kidnapped as a child), then that would mean that Adam would be stuck in a causality loop. The main problem with that is that there's no evidence to support that. If by Adam you mean his alternate, then that's impossible as it's been confirmed by Alex that The Intruder is not an alternate.

Fun fact about OwO, he is actually still going pretty strong right now and I'm excited when he does make a comeback from having his channel shut down.

I've got a theory idea Try to find out whether or not I shat myself watching Mandela Catalogue

Stanley’s message reminds me a lot about tulpas, a sorta imaginary friend that’s said to be a magical creature that attains corporeal reality, having been originally merely imaginary. While they may seem like imaginary friends many believe they are much more powerful and you must be careful when interacting with them. Also if I recall Alex made a community post showing the different types of alternates though it seems to have been deleted. Unsure if it’s been archived at all

Between you and Nick Nocturne, I feel like I understand this series better than some shows/movies that spell everything out

I love your videos! There all so cool. I'm really interested in what's happening in the mandella catalog. Since it has a bunch of religious elements, it reminded me of another KZread series called "spooky month." Lots of spooky stuff in there that I think you would love to dig into!

Honestly, I don’t think Matpat has added much. There’s no real indication that Gabriel and the Intruder are opposed at all. Gabriel’s monologue to Dave in Vol. 4 suggests the opposite from how the implications it gives.

He didn't tell Noah to bring the creature. He told him that he would bring it on as a punishment, he wouldn't realize that the creature was on the arc until it was too late.

It's incredibly impressive that this guy (or guys? Maybe it's a group) would put all of this work into this project with a really solid story behind it that shows this has been planned out. Personally I'm not into Horror, but I am always impressed by someone with vision who takes the time to do the work and get it done right. I hope this leads them to further success in their story telling and film making.

when he says how does it feel when a theory becomes a fact it seems like a direct reference to Boisvert when he says "When does a home become a Complex?" which is interesting because it follows this horror aspect as well as the fact that he reviewed it a few months back.

When MatPat suggested aliens for the alternates I figured he was going to reference Invasion of the Body Snatchers, they come in steal away and mimic humans, while I don't remember if they have a hivemind I know they all act in accordance with one will and the more recent movie even has them with the elongated faces when they scream.

Yeah exactly. Matpat is making the assumption that the intruder is somehow at conflict with the alternate forces. But I agree- the whole POINT is that he took Adam and replaced him with an alternate Maybe there’s something we both missed but I think your theory is more obviously correct than matpat’s

I don’t think MatPat ever implied the intruder was good. He was saying the god fight is evil (Satan) vs evil (the intruder). It’s going to be Adam’s decision to hopefully reject both evil gods and fight for humanity.

I like how Gabriel is named Gabriel after one of the archangels. He's a patron over radio broadcasters, messengers, and the likes. So it's sort of ironic that the intruder, who used to follow Gabriel, is using technology that the angel is a patron of. Also, another series that I think is good for theories is the "Yellowjackets". It takes inspiration from som true events but also has supernatural elements as well the second season comes out in March.

Mat I have been watching you since 2012 so I don't have to worry about subscribing the second this channel came around and I heard about it I immediately subbed same with fashion theory and food theory. I absolutely love your stuff so it only makes sense that you have so many subscribers

Fun fact: I was watching the 3rd Volume once, and when Stanley said to think of a friend, I actually thought of a friend that I would want. Freakin love this series. The religious iconography being twisted, the uncanny valley alternates and the sheer creepy mystery of it all is phenomenal. Can't wait to see where it leads, but also don't want it to end 👽❤💀

Kind of upset we didn't get to hear much about Thatcher, he survived the encounter. Was a big example of the alternates taking form of someone in government, and he seems like one of the main protagonists alongside eve and Adam.

I think Gabriel is not actually an angel, but an original alternate that took on the identity of an angel. That’s why he’s described as the first alternate and is the leader of the hivemind

Who’s side would you be on? Gabriel’s or the intruder’s?

I'd also like to point out all of the 1984 parallels in vol.4 O'Brien was a character who pretended to be a rebel and then turned out to be a party spy. Similar to what O'Brien did in vol.4. Covering the TV could also be a reference to the TV's that are used for monitoring the populace.
