KZread just showed me this video-bittersweet as my snowflake eel died two months ago, pretty tragically, actually, I had him for 17 years. What a character. He was 24" long at the end, the size of a pencil when we got him. King of the tank. I hope yours has fared well. Cheers!

Sorry for the loss. And sorry to ask this but there isn't a whole lot of info on them. How did you care for it? Food, homing, and keeping it calm with other fish.

@@buddybonbutt7510 caves, tunnels and soft sand. Food is dead or dying fish, shrimp, etc. Basically crustaceans and inverts along with fish the size of its mouth.

i had a huge tank years ago i think the secret is not to overstock with fish using enough filters so you never need to change the water and carry out daily water checks things may have changed since the 1980s

    I. Thinking of getting a snowflake eel. So, if I want to have a Snowflake eel, are there any fish or invertebrates I should avoid putting in the tank because either it will attack the eel, or the eel attacks it. Or maybe even coral that could hurt the eel?

BLizardLeLizard ive heard they can eat smaller fish and shrimp. Ive got mine with a a damsel, clownfish, and fire shrimp (among other larger fish) but he hasnt touched anything. I think as long as they dont go hungry you wont have an issue. Regular feedings are key

I kinda want another one as it would look awesome in my new set up but after the last one have a bit of anxiety and it really aint worth it

I sold off this tank a couple of years ago. This eel was a model citizen in the tank. No issues with other fish with the exception of shrimp I put a peppermint shrimp in there and snap. Lasted about 5 min. Lol. Otherwise it was a perfect companion in this reef setup.

They're mainly herbivorous. But all fish are opportunistic. They'll eat brine and mysis shrimp, fish eggs etc. If they get the chance.
