Fatty Liver: What Is It? Do You Have It? How To Fix It. | NAFLD

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Did you know your liver can get fat? In fact, it's a common problem for those who carry a lot of belly fat, drink a lot of soda, and eat a poor diet.
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is defined as the accumulation of fat in the liver that is not caused by drinking alcohol. It is considered the most common liver disease in western societies and is closely linked to insulin resistance, which is a common barrier to weight loss.
In this video, you'll learn
*How a fatty liver forms
*How to tell if you have a fatty liver
*What it means to your ability to lose weight
*How to reverse it before it's too late
Since your liver is involved in the metabolism of the foods you eat, you want your liver to be healthy and responsive. I share diet, exercise, and supplement tips for better liver function.

July 2020, a CT scan showed I had a severe fatty liver. After a year on keto, a CT scan in July of 2021 showed the fatty liver was gone. It was likely gone well before a year but that was when I had a CT scan scheduled that confirmed it was gone and there's nothing like having that kind of confirmation.

Doctors don't know anything about nutrition. All they know about pharmaceutical drugs from the drug companies. It actually turns out that fatty liver disease is caused by gaining too much weight in combination with a body that is unable to create more fat cells. If you can't make more fat cells, your fat cells become full, and then refuse to absorb more fat. Then, if you continue to consume too much food, your body will begin to store the excess calories as fat everywhere on your body that it can (which, because your fat cells are full, is not where it's supposed to be stored).

Terje Oseberg I agree! I have been a nurse for 26 years and most doctors do very little nutritional counseling and the ones that do are based on the old model of eat 6 to 8 small meals a day, eat lots of bananas and protein shakes to lose weight. All the stuff we are finding out is hurting our liver. Dr. Berg is cutting edge and his patients are having true life results, and reversal Of insulin resistance and fatty liver conditions . Not many doctors are having results with their patients like he is.

Thank you Dr Becky! Very informative and articulate. By the way I had an ultrasound and blood tests which showed early stages of NAFLD. One specialist said if it advances to liver cancer we can give you some medication. Got a 2nd opinion from another specialist and he said there’s nothing wrong with you. Both never talked about diet and reversing the issue. I’m sick & tired of these so called specialists and I certainly won’t be going back to either of them.

Two words: intermittent fasting. I fast for a minimum of 17 hrs everyday and eat 2 meals (1 large and 1 small) in the remaining 6-7 hrs of the day...and no snacking. This has definitely improved my liver health and a bunch of other things, including blood pressure, weight management, sleep, regularity, energy levels, etc. Routine fasting is by far the best thing I've ever done for my health. In addition to eating better foods, people should try fasting!

@@benjaminnielsen4288 It works because that's how the human body has evolved over millions of years. As gather hunters we often only ate when we were able to find food via hunting, fruits, fishing, etc. So we often went all day and sometimes several days without eating and therefore, our digestive systems had the proper rest. Hence, intermittent fasting.

I developed Gall Stones due to a low fat diet as I had a Gastric Band fitted 13 years ago .I eat a healthy diet ( mostly Mediterranean ) I have eaten this way since the Gastric Band was fitted. I no longer have the band filled as I have a good diet and learned to eat small portions, so I was surprised I have a Fatty Liver. Now to educate myself and change things . This was very informative. I am a skinny-fat male, struggling with belly fat that is just always... there. I had a blood test done prior to starting a 30-day carnivore diet last September and my doctor informed me that I had fatty-liver.... probably caused by 30 years of eating wheats, breads, grains, glutens, sugars, high fructose corn syrup, and other processed crap. After my experiment, I did post blood work and the results were drastically better. My doctor was amazed and even said she had never seen such positive lab work results with any of her male patients my age. I am still working to reduce the fatty liver, day by day. I'm doing 16 hours fasts, with two meals, and also drinking apple cider vinegar. It works. Thanks for this video.

Hey same boat. Though I added carrying 5 kids and the weight gain that entails. My oldest is a type 1 diabetic, so its interesting going from all i know about how carbs effect our bodies, so i "nutritionist " for type 2 diabetics and being told to eat like 175gm of carbs a day ( somewhere around 16 pieces of bread worth of carbs a day). That's insane. It sucks cause I have been skinny my whole life til now, add in fatty liver, a new type 2 diagnosis, and no free time, it feels overwhelming. I'm not a pop, juice, alcohol drinker so its other stuff. I know what I need to do, I've been eying up keto for over a year, I'd love to do it with my family as much as possible, but I'm in canada and the cost of feeding a 7 person family would probably make your head spin! Lol gotta get my butt in gear before my kids end up without a mom.

@@kaitb07 I share your frustration! We live in Brazil and the nutritionists here as well as endocrinologists are in denial about carbs due to the national diet being beef beans and rice. Its really hard for me to practice what I preach to my own daughter but it's the carbs! It should be a bit easier for us given we got kids with type 1. Best of luck and don't give up!

Thank you for helping me understand fatty liver! My mother was diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the liver about 6 years ago. None of us understood how this happened and what caused it. The disease took her life about 3 years ago. This is the very first time I have understood what the symptoms are and what lead to the cause. We had great doctors and great medical help for the last years of her life. Unfortunately, we saw the suffering effects of this disease. You described her diet, weight issues and stress exactly. I am so glad I found your knowledge, education and help with my own healthy eating life. I am passing your info on to all! Blessings.

Well, thanks to you and a few others, I have decided to start the Keto Diet. I just turned 56, have type II, weigh 315lbs have a few minor arthritis issues, and light high bleed pressure. I have lost 40lbs in the last 10 months. But I want to get off the medicine and get back to doing the things I like to do. As strange as it my sound, I am fairly active but I have many things I used to do that I want to do again. Today is the first day of the rest of my Life. Again, Thanks

If you add Intermittent Fasting to your Keto you'll increase the benefits by 200% and it's absolutely easy to do. Check it out :) Congrats on your success. I am similar weight but lost 40 pounds in only 2 months of doing fasting on a 16/8 and now 18/6 schedule. I plan to move to 20/4 soon. I feel so good!! I am sure Dr Becky might have video on the subject too. A good gent down in the South named Butter Bob has a great video about this issue too about diet only solving half your insulin problem. Also you want to keep an eye on protein intake. It's one of my biggest mistakes doing this is eating way too much protein. It also moderately spikes blood sugar and insulin so keep fats super high and proteins moderate and only clean carbs. GREAT JOB AND CONGRATS!!

Try my diet. I lost 30-40 lbs on this diet. I had a thumb that was curved and stiffened by rheumatoid arthritis. Sometimes I would accidentally bang it on a door and excruciating pain would last until a few hours before it going back to it's curved positioning. I became a strict fruit eater with the intention to clear terrible acne. So I became very disciplined in my diet of nothing but fruit, berries and melons. I learned if I kick start my adrenals and get my kidneys to filter I would surely be on my way to clear skin. Well after one month of fruits and healing crisis I pushed through all the symptoms... And boy were there Symptoms!! But I managed to push and Breakthrough! After 3 months, the terrible skin conditions cleared up and I knew by examining my urine daily that my kidneys were filterieng. After 1 year, I noticed my thumb never hurt anymore and my thumb straightened out to the perfect shape of my other thumb. Doctors told me I'd have to live with the arthritis and hypothyroidism. I now have nether one! Check out *Dr Robert Morse, ND* here on KZread. His protocols and topics. I hope this helps you.....Healing is a process and may not come as fast as we'd like, but when it comes its totally worth the discipline and patience, and only we can help ourselves no one can do it for us.❤❤🤗 P.S I lost the weight without trying, ate all the fruit I wanted and cut out tomatoes, because even they are a fruit, they are acidic and they cause uric acid or arthritis to flare up..so I cut them out.

If any of you were to visit any type of hospital, nursing home, clinic, or school you WILL see all the wrong foods being served to all these people within these facilities. All Doctors and Educators know these types of food are damaging to our health. The problem starts with farming of any kind and food facilities where they add all the bad ingredients. I have minimal fatty tissue now. 2 years ago it was a problem and I had that same pain around my ribs. No longer. In a few months I'll be 66.
