Taiwan is a food lovers paradise and today we’re going to two places, one that serves a luxurious chicken soup that’s been boiled for over 12 hours and another that serves a local Taiwanese ginger duck hot pot. It’s going to be a delicious food tour in Taipei!
Here are the places I ate in this video:
Chicken soup at Ji Yuan Restaurant 驥園川菜餐廳 (goo.gl/maps/AsvUFdj6JSnZeztJ7) - This restaurant is legendary - make sure you make reservations and pre-book your giant chicken soup - it’s insanely tasty!
Total price - 3,780 TWD ($124.96)
Steamed Bun Shop (寧波生煎包): goo.gl/maps/iERUVJ5aY9zV8DZp6 - Can’t go wrong with these legendary Shanghainese fried buns.
Ginger Duck Hot Pot (鴨味仔紅面薑母鴨 松江店): goo.gl/maps/Kh1PUeJUbRTFnUuWA - This is definitely a unique food experience in Taiwan, something that doesn’t always get the spotlight compared to the famous Taiwanese hot pots.
Total price - 720 TWD ($23.80)
All the food on this tour was outstanding, highly recommended when you’re in Taipei, Taiwan!

Ginger Duck Hot Pot is super famous food for cold winter, help us to warm our body. This is a very local taiwanese food.
That chicken soup looks DIVINE. Midnight is not a good time to be watching Mark 😭 Can't wait for more of your Taiwan series 😋
Ginger duck hot pot can only be found in Taiwan. It is a very local Taiwanese dish, especially during wintertime. Normally these restaurants do not run the business in the summer. It is very delicious, completely different from any other type of hot pot. Cook it with vegetables, duck heart, pork blood cake, meat balls, and many kinds of hot pot ingredients. And vermicelli is also a thing of must-eat. Strongly suggest foreigners try it when there is a chance to visit Taiwan. One of my favorites!
I'm from Thailand and I really wanna try Taiwanese food.
This is definitely one of those "I'm very jealous of Marc" episodes, because it's clear how amazing that food is 😅 Once again, it's important to just appreciate that he shares it all with us! I gotta go and eat this for real though, someday...

The Ji Yuan restaurant really is the restaurant I bring my foreign friends to. The soup, I don’t call it soup anymore it’s more like essence. The rich collagen makes your upper and lower lips stick together, normal chicken soup can never.
Thanks for the awesome video! We’re heading to Taiwan in a few days to bring home the two children we’re adopting, and this definitely gave us some good food options to check out while we’re there! Thanks, again!
Mark, I love this food tour series of Taiwan!
驥園雞湯真的超好喝,很難訂位! 冬天很冷吃完薑母鴨身體都溫暖了。
I loved the shot of Marc being enveloped in dumpling steam.. looking like some kind of culinary God shrouded in a beautiful mist! 😂 This episode is full of wonderful sensations, and that's not even counting what the food must taste like!

Tip for those like me who are not Mark or do not have 7 friends with them, or cant get a reservation at Ji Yuan, they have a second restaurant G-Woo where you can buy the same chicken dish in multiple portion sizes from 1 person up 400twd. I cant say it's exactly the same as I missed Ji Yuan but hard to fathom the mothership could be much better, oh wow!

I’m a huge foodie but I’m also a picky eater and don’t eat meat. Discovering Mark Wiens has been amazing because I get to experience all these delicious dishes without having to eat them. I have a question and it is not a jab at veganism but pure curiosity if you don't mind? Why do vegans try to mimic meat dishes instead of just cooking and eating veggies as they are? If meat is a no no, why try to recreate it?
@Kungpowbeats
Жыл бұрын
@@janvdb9258 that would depend on person to person. My mum hates the taste and texture of meat and always has and so doesn't enjoy fake meat. Other people might be a vegan for conscientious reasons, like concerns for the environment or animal welfare, but still enjoy the texture and flavour but have decided to give it up . Meat substitutions might satisfy cravings for those who still enjoy meat but have decided to give it up.

@@janvdb9258just now seeing this! It’s varies from person to person. I used to eat meat and sometimes find myself craving a hot dog and the plant based ones, on occasion, really do hit the spot. I, for the most part, tend to steer clear of them though. Other people, like my mom, hate all the fake meat like products.
