I just got back from 2 weeks in Taiwan and ‘food obsessed’ was the perfect way to describe the country. In the US people greet each other with ‘How are you?’ While in Taiwan everyone greeted me with ‘Have you eaten yet?’

Yeah. Local foods will always better. Because the local chef will have real skill too to cook it. I will never looking for burger or pizza in Taiwan or China... I will search foods of their own specialty...

Im a Singaporean living in Taipei for 4 years now and i still cant get enough of the food here! The places you've visited are really very local, and that particular Scallion Pancakes store you went is really legit and it is also my go-to in Taipei when i am craving for one. Do head down south and pay Tainan a visit as they are very well known for their beef soup ! For locals, i believe Tainan is one of the place they'd love to go for food and i hope to see an episode of 5 Must Eat Foods in Tainan!

Also Singaporean here, married to a Taiwanese. Tainan local food leans towards a sweeter aftertaste due to its sugar production heritage during Japanese colonialism . Not really a fan of that taste, but it is definitely interesting The beef soup there is legendary because it comes straight from the abattoir without any form of freezing/cold storage. ( 溫體牛 / body temp beef) Super tender, purity of beef flavour

When Chinese people from the mainland took over Taiwan in 1949, they changed the official name to Republic of China. Wonder how the native Taiwanese felt.

As a Taiwanese, I have to say that if you guys have chance to visit Taiwan, you have to try everything shows on video once in the whole life.

I just got back from 3 weeks in Taiwan, this trip I had 3 different kinds of beef noodle. Soooo enjoyed the Middle School, High School Reunion Partys and Dinners, also the Family & Relatives Reunion as well. My husband and I feel so blessed.

One of my favorite countries. Great food, extremely friendly ppl, beautiful mountains and very modern

This makes me miss Taiwan. I spent some time teaching ESL in Taichung. This video had my mouth watering!

The food scene in Taiwan was just incredible! The people were so friendly and polite as well, one of my favourite countries I’ve ever visited.

Travelled to Taiwan for my college graduation trip. The ppl are so friendly and the food is amazing! I miss Taiwan

Greetings from Tijuana, Mexico. It seems like yesterday when you filmed the episode in my city . I want to thank you Mark for showing us all these wonderful foods , they all look so delicious. In 1987 I went on a study tour to Tunghai University in Taichung and I remember all the food discoveries I made. Shaved iced with topping , meatball soups with noodles at the night market, sweet bread, Taiwan beer, steamed fish...all with the unique seasonings...I knew It would be my only chance to savor all those dishes....Im glad for this episode, it brought good memories! Thanks again.

Many Chinese people may impersonate Taiwanese restaurants, but you can easily distinguish them by simply looking at the flags they hang. Taiwanese people don't hang the Chinese five-star flag. Generally, Taiwanese people don't consider their country to be part of China.

Mark appreciate your video on Taiwan food. Growing up in Taiwan, my dad have been keep eating the 1st beef noodle house ( Liu Shandong) in Taipei when he was a high school student ever since 1968 more than 55 +years non stop he told me. It was a destination for the tourists.

Before I watch the video, I was like there's no way that you could pick only 5-must-eat-foods to the list, but those you picked actually were the classic, great video! I feel so lucky living in Taiwan where I can access these delicious food everyday

Lu rou fan (braised pork rice) is really no joke. That was the unforgettable memory during the trip to Taiwan, simply one of the best rice dish I've ever had in my entire life, and the price makes it even better. Solid top 3!!!

Taiwan is known for anything spells noodles and a sweet mothering deserts, buble tea and oh heavenly Chinese cuisines. It never stops.

As a Taiwanese, I’m pretty proud of our various kinds of delicious food …. You’re so right when you say the Taiwanese is food- obsessed! Young people can’t afford to buy houses, instead, they buy food 😂

In all of your noodle tours, by far the Taiwanese beef noodles look the best from any other country.

Oh my goodness I used to go to the scallion pancake place all the time as a university student!! Back then they were not as well known, but I was always drawn back because of how insanely tasty it was. Really unreal to see it being featured on this channel, thank you Mark for sharing Taiwanese food!

Tainan is really known for its local food and street food. The city has its reputation. Every single Taiwanese would say go to Tainan if one is looking for some good authentic food. Hopefully, you have some time to explore Tainan. Addtionally, Tainan is the first capital of Taiwan, there is a historical aroma all over the city.

That’s it. Going to Taipei. Mark is the healthiest, most fit, lean food influencer I’ve ever seen. Sold!

The best dumplings I have ever had was in Taiwan. Have been to mainland China and lived in Japan, but no 1 dumplings is in Taiwan. Stinky tofu is good too, sometimes comparable with French cheeses. It made in Okinawa too. Great clip as usual, Mark.

Mark: your 5 stop foodie tour was fantastic! Hitting the stops where the locals eat. Mostly street food is the way to go. The beef soup, Pancake stop, Lo rou fan, stinky tofu & the final cold meat salad , & dumplings were all worth the stop. And price-wise all were a bargain, priced for the locals, not the tourists. Nice that you had a heads-up on where to go from local foodies!

Mark really knows how to pick a restaurant. The meals he chooses are what Taiwanese people actually have for their daily meals, not just for tourists.
