My first visit in Thailand was 2006 and I thought the same, in December/ January 2024 I've been the 8th time, unfortunately starting with 2018, people started to be less and less friendly every time we visit. We are very polite family and respectful to the thais, I learned a little bit thai to be able to make small talks includind at the wet market, where I love to go because of the people there. Some of them are totaly ignoring you. Just one small example: we have been in the Bic C Bkk in the front of Central World shopping mall, I wanted to buy seasoning for som tam, there were 2 young boys filling the empty shelves , they were with their back to us like 1 m away, I said 3 times "sorry.. helllo, sorry.." till one turns to us , I asked, and he just made a small move as "no" while he already turns back again. In EM Quarter food court, we oder pad med mamuang for take away (to the only one stall cooking this there) that food was horrible, couldn't eat, everyone knows pad med mamuang is based on dark soy+sauce, they put it a red sweet sour sauce simular to spring roll sauce. I think they less and less like farang tourists. We we often ignored in the last years in Thailand. Our decision, 8 times was enough. I'm expecting the same respect I give to other.

I recently went on a trip to Thailand and for every single meal I had, I went to a place Mark went. It was just the greatest trip I have ever done in my life. It's not only about the food but it took me to places I would have never been on my own and where I was the absolute only westerner there.

Mark is always his happiest when he is back in Thailand eating the food he truly loves and misses . Nothing like home !
that last guy was the star IMO, any streetfood vendor so happy to let you taste their food in advance is just mad honest in their cooking and quality. So friendly as well. and he changed his gloves after feeding to keep everything clean. So wholesome and admirable.
I lived in Thailand for a few years and I miss a lot about it. My friends, the weather, the joy of wearing flip flops all year round. But there's nothing I miss more than Thai noodle soup 😅
I still can't believe Mark doesn't have a huge team behind him. Just shows you how comfortable and accomplished he is. The funniest part of this video is when he says, "I know why Uncle is so proud of his tongue."

After watching Mark Wiens for 10+ years. I can confidently say I’ve come to realize Mark is a BIG liar. You cannot trust this man. If he says something isn’t spicy or a little bit spicy, it’s SPICY. When he says let’s add a LITTLE more chili, half the spice jar isn’t a LITTLE. lol I love you Mark!! Your spice level is crazy. I always watch all your videos as soon as they release, usually while I’m eating food myself.

This was great! I love how you just don't eat and rush to the next place! You're so informative and your descriptions on the taste of these are so wonderful! I gotta say that I've been wanting to try the boat noodles ever since you introduced it to me years ago with Mike Chen collaboration. All of them look tempting especially when dressed up with the veggies, vinegar, chili oils, and crispy pork cracklins.
Original is so good. But in Thailand, your noodle, your taste. Your customizable happy meal.
I absolutely love Thai noodle soup especially the chicken noodle soup. The combination of chillies, saturated broth, fresh herbs, & noodles with a selection of protein brings happiness to my soul. I'm so glad Mark came back home to Thailand where the food & culture is rich in value. Each noodle soup looks so delicious and fulfilling to the soul. Thanks Mark for all your consistent work and documentation of food & culture. May you & your family continue to be blessed and safe travels always. 🍜🌶🍻 cheers!!
love the first place you can really eat feel good about the beautiful birds and trees and that calmness
My favorite is Tom Yum Goong Nam Say. Can drink that all day

I lived in Thailand for eight years. I miss it so much. Thai food will forever be my favorite, and Thai people could not be kinder.
เส้นเล็ก (sen lek) is not medium, it means SMALL width noodles; as opposed to เส้นหมี่ (sen mee) is MICRO; or เส้นใหญ่ (sen yai) is BIG or wide noodles.
I hope to be moving to Thailand this year of all goes to plan, but I will be there in a couple of weeks as well for 2 weeks, I will definitely try as many of these as possible, that chicken noodle looked divine.

That beef noodle uncle is so kind. He's energetic, proud and passionate about what he does. Love it! Must try next time in Bangkok.
Tom Yum is my fav soup, as a matter of fact I am addicted to it. Unfortunately most of the Thai restaurants here in US use the paste to make it which is ok since I have never experienced it made from scratch. But it is hit or miss here, some make it too thin, some overdo it, so it is unbearably salty. My dream is to visit Thailand and have the real thing one day. Thanks Mark!

You should make your own from scratch. It's not hard at all and the ingredients are widely available even in the US, i think.

Noodles #5 reminds me so much of the Crab Fried Rice I had in Thailand. The combination of the pork belly, bbq pork, wontons and crab claws is just perfect!

My first trip to Thailand will be late June. Very excited. Want the Not Super Spicy version of the food, I actually want to taste the food in lieu of a numb mouth.
Nice to see you back in Bangkok. I’ve got a couple of places saved on maps that I’m going to try tomorrow. Especially looking forward to the 1 that serves Isaan food, you had a banger of a Nam Tok there and some pork laab. Also I went to your place at ekkamai and honestly it’s the best pad kra pow I’ve had in 7 months here. The wagyu beef is insane. But I think you need to open a bigger place man we waited 1 hour for the food because it was so busy! Worth the wait no doubt but it seems you have certainly got the clientele there to take it to another level!
