    Loved that little tidbit in the middle! Sneaky way to prey on the curiosity of the good viewers 😎. It's stuff like that that separates your channel from others David. Oh and the workout here was pretty alright too! Nice way to incorporate Lee's research into a rock solid session. Can't ever go wrong with bodybuilders and kick-outs. Strong work brother, salute!

    Great tips. I thought Lee's experiment was very interesting. It sounds logical because of leg movement. Ironwolf says it is the main burpee used in Marines. I think it is his favorite.

    hardwork and consistency are the two keys. as a police officer being conditioned might save your life, or someone else's someday. sustainability is another factor in remaining consistent. i'm much older than all the other youtube exercise people, so i have some reservations about excessive volume if long term training is part of the goal.

  • @DavidWhitten

    @DavidWhitten

    10 ай бұрын

    I hear you on the volume as well Bruce. I think there is a time and place for higher volume workouts (at my age anyway) however as you pointed out, the older I/we get, the more sustainability is something which can’t be ignored. I certainly want to maintain and improve my own fitness but not at the detriment of my future training. Great point to raise Bruce! It’s an interesting topic point for sure👍.

    @@DavidWhitten There are probably 80 year olds out there that would tell me to watch my volume. I was at one time a 350 bench press guy. An older policeman who could out lift me gave me the bit of advice to lighten up before I injured my shoulders like he did. I put burpees into the same category as bench presses when hundreds upon hundreds of reps become routine training. All of you younger guys might prove me completely wrong when you get up towards my age, but it’s something to consider. Until I stumbled onto Iron Wolf’s workouts, I’d never heard of anybody doing reps like that. High volume training is for younger people, you don’t see too many 70 year old triathletes, although I don’t doubt that they exist.

    @@brucehelppie6119 no you make a fair point Bruce. You actually sound just like @OldNatty. He’s always preaching the same advice👍. Check him out if you haven’t already. I feel like a slight switch to more weight training is on the horizon for me. Not heavy lifting but something to hopefully put on a little muscle. I’ve lost weight doing high rep bodyweight training and I don’t want to get any smaller. Gotta still try and look a little intimidating when I’m the uniform😉😂. Thanks again for sharing your experience and wisdom🫡💯.

    @@DavidWhitten I carried about 15 pounds more than I do now when I was a policeman. You’re right about maintaining a little intimidation factor. I should probably stay in my own lane when it comes to advice. Everyone should train how they want to and we all learn as we go.

    Tough work! Do you do your own editing out of interest? Interesting with the calorie burn scale for the burpees. Basically I think the more legs are involved, the more O2 is required because they are bigger muscles and the bigger the calorie burn. In terms of a muscular chest pump though, more push ups are going to be involved with Navy Seals so they will be more demanding from a strength point of view rather than a calorie burn. The double Navy Seals session with a "heels to backside jump" I posted, will rocket the calorie burn with a dynamic power requirement from the legs..more O2 required and therefore more calories burned. Adding a jump I think, is the next level for calorie burn and fitness. The simplest way to know is when the level of cardio goes up. Fancy a go of those double Navy Seals with a jump...? Maybe a 5 minute insertion into a workout as an introduction to them? Aim for 4 per minute? Just a thought anyway!😄

    Yes I have been doing the editing. This is only the second video where I’ve done it, so I’m still getting used to it. Hopefully it’s not to bad? How about you? Do you do the editing for your videos? I feel like you once said your daughter did it for you🤷‍♂️? And I’ll certainly agree with you about the cardio and calorie burn. Anytime the legs are involved, or there’s any king of jumping, both of the “c” words will be in full effect. And yeah, I think I can find a way to mix in a few heels to backside 5 pump NS👍.

    @@DavidWhitten Actually I spend significantly longer than that. Easily a couple of hours but on some of the follow along workouts, even longer. Those ones are really time consuming when I have "go" and "stop" voice overs all the time. May not do as many of those in the future. Definitely time consuming but the videos become more professional looking.
