Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of NIO ET5 2023 - Update

Update 2023: Additional checks have been done to ensure that the ET5 Touring variant shares the 2023 rating of the NIO ET5.
Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
▶ a frontal impact test where 50% of the width of the car strikes an oncoming deformable barrier, travelling at 50 km/h
▶ a frontal impact test where the car impacts a full-width rigid barrier
▶ a side impact test where a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
▶ a pole test where the car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole and the robustness of the centre airbag is evaluated
▶ a whiplash test performed on a sled.
A series of pedestrian tests are also conducted with different impactors : adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form. As well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests. In 2023 a test scenario for Cyclist Dooring Prevention was introduced.
Active safety is rated based on the performance of the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car and car-to-motorcycle scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders, fatigue, distraction and impairment), lane support and speed assistance technologies.

@@agerautimate8272 The RADAR system works in much the same way as the LiDAR, with the only difference being that it uses radio waves instead of laser. So what is your point? No it doesn't. Tesla wouldn't even score 90% with latest regulations. These new tests are more strict than when Teslas were tested.

The tesla model was tested there not long ago and it was the same test. Today they only added some criticisms especially for the safety of the pedestrians. In addition, the euro n cap does not test rolls and violent face-to-face accidents where the tesla have a greater resistance than the nio. On the other hand with these tests, the nio is actually a little safer.
