Safest cars in the WORLD revealed!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Here it is - the definitive list of the top 10 safest cars you can currently buy!
We’ve worked with Euro NCAP to find out which cars are currently top of their list when it comes to safety!
When Euro NCAP rank each car between 5 to 0 stars, they look at four different categories. These are adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, vulnerable road users (i.e. how badly or not badly a car may harm a pedestrian), and safety assists (e.g. such as auto-braking tech).
So there you have it! The question is, do you own a car on this list? Or more importantly, if your car has a poor Euro NCAP rating, would you sell it and buy a different one instead? Let us know in the COMMENTS!

The Alfa Romeo Giulia, and not many people know this, is still the only car that got 98% (And the Stelvio got 97%, same as the model Y). If you have watched Jeremy Clarkson's clip on the Grand Tour, you'll remember him saying the B pillar is too far forward making a bit difficult to get in and out of the car if you're not slim. That's not a mistake. Moving the B pillar a few inches forward made the Giulia the safest car ever, at least for its driver. Part of the merits, of course, go the body's structural rigidity that also helps with handling.

they said they will or have changed crash tests to account for the higher height of average car since so called suv became popular... so now sedans wagons etc have to be heaver top area so they will have more tedency to roll over so more stiff suspension and ex[ensive things to make it all preform with comfort... car height and weight should be penalizaed by heavy tax because in some situations, people in heavy car are protected in crash with lighter car but people in lighter car are more likley to suffer.. but statistically there is not so much benefit to heavy car for saftey as explained in video by aptera owners club on saftey. lighter cars cost less in raw materials, health problems (and climate change, if you beleive that is caused by co2 kinda of stuff) caused by emissions including microplastics from parts dumped at junkyard and stuff liek windhsield washer fluid, heavy car cost more to manufaturer and consumer (see aptera owners club video on cost and suspension geomrty), weight wears on roads creating more need to pay for road repairs, bigger cars make traffic congestion worse because space taken up per occupant in car. japan gives tax credit to kei car owner for these reson but of course law should also incentivise even smaller improvements.

I rank the safety stuff in cars pretty high up (Top 5 criteria) when deciding on a car to buy. I even watch the NCAP testing videos 😂. I won't buy a car that I do not feel safe in, as I drive a lot for work. I do feel it is also important to drive a car as well and feel what you like the most and feel safest in (generally more placsticky stuff feels less safe). I feel the NCAP is a little biased to the first category though, whilst the avoidance stuff is pretty important to prevent problems in the first place. Please add as a criteria in your reviews, so many of the more affordable and small cars also have a sub-3 NCAP safety rating (eg Renault Zoe has 0! and Dacia generally a 1 star), which is just not good enough anymore and should be highlighted. Also important to highlight some of these ratings are impacted by optional safety packs, not always present in a standard option.

In my country, there have been quite a few high profile crashes lately and what I've observed is that the more expensive your car, the higher chance you will walk unscathed. For example, a drunk driver with a Q7 killed a couple of girls and smashed the car into a building at 150 km/h. He and the 3 passengers got out and walked unscathed. Can't say the same for the girls tho. Also, in front of my eyes a Panamera hit a rent-a-car at about the same speed. The driver was unscathed, but he killed both passengers in the rented hatchback. So yeah, luxury brands seem to be worth it, at least concerning driver and passenger safety.

Excellent video. The NCAP rating does influence my thinking but I also like to look at what the US IIHS say as well on their small frontal impact tests as NCAP don’t do those. What I would like to see is published transparent data about real world crashes showing injuries and deaths in each vehicle in different circumstances. I’d also like to see tests of older vehicles as used by young drivers to see if protection has diminished. Journalists should ensure that poor performance is highlighted, not ignored (Dacia).

Driving a tesla model y almost every day, I can confirm that it recognizes stuff quite early. however there is a downside to this. If a cyclist is on the sidewalk in a curve, the car wont let me drive past him without making loads of noise. Also the model y thinks I am running into parking cars, in a turn, and starts yelling at me, even though I amcompletely aware of those cars. I'd say its sometimes(often) very "overreactive". If that makes it safer in real dangerous situations though, I can totally live with it

@Alejandro There's roughly 5 Tesla fires per 1 billion miles and roughly 53 fires per billion miles for the average vehicle. Those numbers include arson, structure fires and other reasons unrelated to the vehicle. I've heard rumors about higher severity of those fires and especially that firemen are sometimes uneducated on them and/or that battery fires persist for much longer. And in the opposite direction, I've heard the car have been able to warn occupants that the battery firewall has been punctured long before the fire spreads. I don't know the statistics of those aspects though. But I know that Tesla fires are vastly overreported in the news.
@JellyLancelot

@Alejandro Anecdotes and extrapolations don't really matter objectively though, unless they plan to be used on a class action against Tesla for fraud, which I doubt there's merit for. So those anecdotes primarily create fear and confirmation bias. Tesla haven't published statistics for 2022 yet (and likely won't until May 2023) but their fire incidents have falling slightly since 2019 so it'd be odd if it had reversed and multiplied by over 10 this year. We'll see though.

I will always choose Mercedes for safety simply because I’ve seen first hand how well they protect occupants. In my way to work one morning (in my own Benz) a black Mercedes in front of me hit one of those black, triangular pedestrian barriers, pitch up in the air, and flipped onto its roof. Before the car completed the flip, all of the airbags immediately deployed and none of the glass was broken. By the time I got to the driver’s side to pull him out, he was already crawling through the door, and the only damage he sustained was a tiny slash on the back of his left hand from items that flew around inside the cabin. Teslas aren’t reliable, don’t even have road sign recognition outside the usa, often don’t make it past the first safety inspections, don’t have some of the features that were promised years ago, don’t have high quality materials, lack many convenient things like buttons or even things for safety like a drivers display or hud. But yeah ig as long as the camera based assistance systems work (on a bright summer day) you might be a tad safer. Although honestly the EQE and many chinese cars aren’t worse in any way

This is why i think Mercedes is simply the best. They have their commercial vehicles, petrol and EV models in the top 6 for safety. They compete with other brands best in luxury like rolls royce and Bentley. While still competing on the track with brands like Porsche, Ferrari and McLaren. They still compete with daily vehicles like audi, bmw, and lexus. More importantly they're still innovating. Like in this current generation they introduced the the 1st rear seat airbags. However their EV designs are absolutely atrocious.

@@bartwaggoner2000 touch screens in cars suck in general whether its Mercedes, tesla or lexus. I like buttons or a turning dial instead. The ambient lighting is beautiful in person and makes late night drives something else. You can just turn it off however. Their software recently has been great and if they wanted to create a full auto pilot car they can easily do so. If they wanted to put security cameras in their cars, they can easily do so. After all Mercedes is the 1st to fully release adaptive cruise control for a production car. I never mentioned tesla in my comparison because teslas are good at most things but not great. The security cameras, auto pilot and 0 to 60 times are what i like the most about tesla . Other than that Mercedes touches all bases in the car world and tesla does not. Even things like rear turning wheels is something tesla doesnt have. Over engineering is subjective. Like only being able to open the glove compartment using a touch screen is ridiculous.

What none of these tests take into account are visibility and maneuverability. I will take a B- pillarless car anyday over one with a super high side impact protection rating. I drive my covertible with the widows down 95% of the time and its glorious, I can very clearly see all around and this does affect safety. Alsp the ability to stop, change direction etc allows you to avoid accidents in a way a big fat heavy SUV just can't. There's also the driver isolation side of things. A big luxury SUV detatches you from the road, it's easy to not be aware if the conditions to drive appropriately, at the other end of the spectrum an open top lightweight sports car is super safe as you are constantly aware of what's going on and putting your attention into actually driving. There's a lot more to car safety.
Some info from EURO NCAP would be welcomed in the everyday reviews

Should safety be judged by lab results that intended to be analogs of the real word or by the real world (ie empirical evidence of injury and deaths of occupants per km driven?) The two results are often vastly different. I personally want the best vehicle in the real world, not in the lab as I will use my vehicle in the real world.

You'd hope the tests are designed to be close to real world, they are updated regularly. Tesla uses fleet data on accidents returned OTA to study crashes and make their cars safer, they actually now start deploying safety systems before impact if appropriate etc.
