Hi Guys ! I am from Brest and I just watched your channel. I am feeling sorry for this very epic situation because of the Covid19. My Pogo is locate at the other marina, Le Moulin Blanc and next time ( I hope quite soon) you should move there. There are more facilities, ship landers, sails makers, mechanic ... The pontoon for visitors is fine and more quiet at night. But for now, no choice, we have to stay lockdown. Cheers Guy

Hi Guy, we’ve been to Le Moulin Blanc a few times for a walk around and to get a few bits from the Chandlery, it does have a much nicer communal area. Hope we get back soon.

Brest and aircraft carriers ---- brings back many great memories. The French Naval Academy is there too, but in a restricted zone….so not for visiting. Glad you got home. I post-poned/cancelled my big sail this year to stay close to family. Stay safe.

Patrick Laine The maritime museum was also a great place to visit in Brest. There’s a lot of restricted zones around the area including the marina we are in, it’s got a military staff section. Such a shame about your big sail especially with the preparation you’ve put in, although you’ve made the right decision to be close to family, there’s always time to reschedule. Take care

Charles De Gaul has hosted U.S. Navy aircraft as well. In fact, French and U.S. Navy pilots quite regularly have landed on each other's carriers for more than a decade now.

@@OverlandSea Even more recently, the French sent a detachment to America to spend a few weeks aboard the George H W Bush. I believe it was 13 aircraft in total and like 350 crewmen. They do this because they only have the one carrier and when it goes into drydock for maintenance, the Frenchies have a deal worked out with the US where they can continue to train and keep their deck landing qualifications current aboard US carriers. The French and American Navies are the only two navies in the world that use CATOBAR aircraft carriers (cabal arrested and catapult launches).

Hope you enjoyed the videos Keith, how did you find them, is there anything we could do to make them better? It's helpful for us to get a viewers perspective on them. We know in our earlier videos that the volume wasn't consistent which can be annoying to watch. We chose Whitehaven after looking at a few marinas due to its location both on the water and on land, it's close proximity to IOM, NI & Scotland on the water. And we love working as a family and from the marina you have the Lake District on your doorstep.

Sailing SV Compromise yes, volume always seems to be an issue, on a few channels. It’s understandable, given the price of quality kit. I must say that didn’t particularly bother me, the thing that did, was the out of focus shots, sometimes. You had some great footage throughout but, for me, it was lost because of the panning speed, just too fast. I hope this is positive feedback, as that’s how it’s intended. I do a little videoing, including a drone, for my own consumption, so I understand how difficult it is and, the time you put into editing. It’s obvious, that you enjoy being a family unit. I sail out of Conwy, having bought a project boat, fifteen months ago. It is now in the water, by the way. I’ve always wanted to sail but, mine will primarily, be single handed. I’m interested in your journey south, as I have thoughts of the same route but, only to Croatia. Have a really great time, following your dream. Hoping you and yours stay safe, through this testing time. Peace and, fair winds. ⛵️🇬🇧✌️

Your absolutely right with the panning, it's only when I look at the footage when editing that I notice how fast it is, so we've tried not to whiz around so quickly, I've learnt to not let that kind of footage make the cut. Unless we are explaining something we try to take shorter shots but more of them. We've still got a lot to learn but hopefully you noticed an improvement in the latter videos. We have a subscriber who's at Conwy he's got the same boat as us. Sounds like you have a good plan and hopefully we'll see you along the way South 🤞🏻

Great to see two of my favourite channels back online in the same week ... you and Patrick. Strange times we're living in. Just heard that France has banned all pleasure boats leaving port ! If it happens here that's £8k wasted just on my marina bill depending on how long the ban lasts, but the most important thing is people's health and we're lucky to have a boat so have to look at the big picture. Plus we had a big delivery of loo rolls today ... somehow that's become more important than a lottery win 😊. Keep well 👍👍

Cheers mate, we love Paticks channel he's a great man. Your not kidding, it all feels a bit surreal, hopefully it all blows over soon, this the last thing you want a UK port ban, shame we can't get reduced mooring fees, I asked the marina in Brest and they said theres no chance of a discount. You just be careful with the loo roll, make sure if stored safely with extensive security measures in place hehe take care

We had a return ferry booked from Roscoff to Plymouth which was the earliest one and it wasn’t until the Monday, we needed to be out of France before then so the very earliest ferry out of France was the Calais to Dover one. Luckily we left when we did because they locked the marina down and started shutting the boarders. Your welcome Eric, in the episode before this one, we went to the maritime museum, that’s worth looking at.
