Jimmy Dore will say anything for a thumb up (or, much the same thing, a thumb down) from anyone. He doesn't even require a Patreon pledge. Eric Weinstein makes no sense when he speaks on any subject, once we start getting to his views on that subject. He can say something cogently biting in small talk, but he is incapable of explaining himself - or deeply disinclined to do so, for what would have to be pretty unappealing reasons. On Thiel, Weinstein has shown no appetite for biting the ass that feeds him.

During my first year at university, the majority of people I lived with in student accommodation were socially awkward science bros. Lots of RPGs, lots of Star Wars, lots of LOTR, very little music beyond Hans Zimmer and video game scores and a lot of shoehorning of scientific methodology to "fix" complex socio-political issues whilst dismissing the Humanities and critical thinking in general. This comment section is giving me major flashbacks.

And it's not 'according to capitalism', it's just that they have figured out what modern society needs right now. They have allocated resources in an efficient way and it gets things done. They’re working on building roads, self driving cars, and extracting oil. We are speeding towards climate collapse and we are figuring out how to use more oil. We reached peak oil usage in 2019, and that will continue to increase. We have great computing power which has been used to track every single human being. What they say, what they write, where they go, who they meet with, what they buy. It’s all tracked. Is that what society needs? Or is it what companies need to make more money and dictators need to suppress dissent? This is how ducking dumb you guys are. You don’t in know how to question anything. You’re arrogant because you get paid money. You don’t even realise how fucking dumb you are. You butt in to conversations about fields you have no clue about. But everyone in that field is an idiot right? Because they must have low IQs. Because anyone who is smart enough wants to do science. And if they choose not to do science it must be because they weren’t smart enough. So you can tell them more about their field than they know themselves. @@sanmigueltv he's given the rationale for that many times: people like Sam Harris, Jordan Peterson and the Weinsteins may be silly charlatans, but they gained significant enough foothold in the media landscape that their ideas need to be pushed back against. Their ideas are damaging and Sam aims to minimise their influence as much as possible, through deconstructing why they're wrong and through general ridicule. They are doing fewer segments like this now because IDW influence peaked in 2018/2019, with Jordan Peterson at the height of his fame. Their coverage is proportional to how relevant these guys are. And yes, there is a portion of the MR audience who enjoys this sort of thing, myself included. I don't think anarcho-capitalism is particularly influential but the spectacle that is created when one of them calls into the show to debate with Sam is highly entertaining. It's not purely a news show.

funglegunk Intellectually Seder can’t hold a candle to Peterson or Harris. He’s a comedian. I’ve read books from all 3 and personally “The Moral Landscape” and “The End of Faith” by Sam Harris helped me reverse cult indoctrination. Jordan Peterson’s “12 rules to Life” is a very good book, you should read it if you haven’t. I tried to read “Fubar”.. horrible. He’s so far left he’s lost himself, he can’t even honestly critique Sam Harris or Jordan Peterson and admit any good points that they make. He just completely chucks them away as if they have nothing relevant to see, that’s actually what charlatans do to create a villain for the audience.
