Just amazing user interface on the K4. Outstanding job done. Real professional engineers who understand their business developed this. Everything looks balanced and reads great. Font sizes, colors, button placement, all interface elements - everything is great. I have to admit, ICOM are a little annoying in this regard.

Simply amazing... How far technology has come from the K1... Thanks, Eric!

Hey what a transceiver! Well meant, well designed, very handy, all in all has a lot of intelligence and background knowledge in it. Clear that IT guys didn't decide! Way ahead competition. This will be my next rig. Really awaiting kit version becomes available.

Excellent Eric thanks. I'm in the market for a new rig. The Yaesu FTDX-101MP is on my list. I like the K$ for its many features but especially the size. Also I like that the S-meter can be a bar graph. When will Rob Sherwood get one for testing? If I order one next week when will I get the K4 73 de WA3RSL

This is a Dense video but what a machine!

Can one create profiles for different modes so that they can be retrieve later?...with the amount of configuration settings going on for a particular mode, it becomes a necessity to have them in profiles.

So, no WiFi interface for upgrades, only via a hard wire Ethernet connection? With the tablet software you mentioned, you can control it but can you make a voice or CW contact by hooking up a mike or paddle to the tablet? I am currently using an iPhone app to learn CW called iMorsix and have a Bluetooth enabled cable they sell to connect my paddles to the imorsix application…. So there ways to hook up a paddle to a iPhone/iPad or tablet. So it’s is doable…

thanks for the extensive preview of the K4. I know that K4 is targeting high-end / contest-grade market, but I was wondering if you have a K4 lite version planned. As a casual user, i never need dual VFO (not even A/B switch), but I want SDR version of stripped down K4 and mini-remote panel (not using PC notebook but dedicated WiFi-enabled VFO-knob version). This will crush Flex 6x00 series market (Flex products almost no update and plagued with Windows PC remote latency (remote CW is just not possible) issue and usability problem. What I want is a K4-lite with K4-lite remote terminal with VFO knob (Pan-adapter version of P3 mini-remote-like) all under $2,000.

Since it runs Linux, will it be possible to remotely control it from a Linux desktop (or X xerver)? I run SuSE Linux and if it's possible to control it from my PC it would be a great selling point in it's favor.

The K4 manual states: 2.5Wper channel into 4ohms; typ. 10% THD. 10%!!!! This is no better than the new Yaesu FTdx-10. How is this a low fatigue distortion figure? Elecraft keeps mentioning how good the K4 audio will be, but spec is the same old stuff.

The FTDX10 is an excellent radio; why are you talking mad sh*t?

That K4 is the 13th in the sherwood list. The K3S is far ahead in every point and the Yaesu FTDX10 is better than the K3S and the K4 in every way. then compare the prices for a FTDX10 and a K4, why would i pay more for less. the K4 i heard sound a bit muffled, there isnt much dynamic in it and the transmitter produces a small bandwidth signal with emissions on the sides in the waterfall image, that signal will bother other people like 4 or 5khz on the sides ☠ and with an extra power amplifier behind it, that will be even worse. 🍋👎😖🚫

@@sgs1262 Blah Blah Blah. Why both commenting to say nothing of substance? The K4 is supposed to be the bollocks. If there are really 100 in owners hands then I shouldn't be able to move for comments and reviews. Instead, we have seen zero. Don't use Covid as an excuse. Covid doesn't stop the internet working.
