Amazing technology that was invested into this awesome radio.. Elecraft has really pushed the envelope with the K4. I can't wait to get this.

I really like the P3 as a station monitor. I wish Elecraft still built the P3 and the P3TXmon it would make a great station monitor for may hams. Second the K4 keeps getting better and better.

CESSB, so far, only available on Flex Radio, Apache Labs and Elecraft, very interesting the selectable filter in front of the NB, strong adjacent signals can really be destructives once ON.

Man, if I only had 5k to blow on a new toy. It's a 7300 for me. I wonder why Elecraft doesn't try to compete with Icom by making a reduced feature set of that radio at the 7300 price point? It really seems like a no brainer to me. They could even use similar architecture to save on development costs but lock out features with firmware so that you don't buy a lower cost radio to get the higher-end features.

These size companies have a very hard time taking their business to the next level as they would have to restructure their entire business. When founders leave, the business limps along for awhile, possibly getting bought by another business or they just close their doors. FlexRadio is in the same boat. They don't know how to take their business to the next level. They don't have $1000-$2000 radios, and may never develop those sku's. Also, Elecraft has California blinders on. They are in an area where people easily throw $10k at a hobby. Ultimately it comes down to if the product cost too much, making a company go BK or does the product cost too little, losing money on each unit sold. Yes many businesses operate like that, living on investor money, until they go BK.

Same distortion spec as other rigs (look at the FTdx10) so how is it "lower distortion"? You keep saying this, but don't explain and specs don't show it.

Great radio for sure. It is a shame that you made this video with a potato however.

K4 impressive but has a high $4495 price. I will keep fixing my Ten Tec Paragon 2 circa 1993. It is an impressive transceiver as I have started out fixing Drake 4 series from 1960's. I do not want to be an appliance operator. It would be interesting to try a K4 and see what a modern transceiver is like. The Paragon 2 has band selectable front end filters. A direct sampling transceiver like the K4 would need a tight front end but I have never seen the schematic for even a K3. I guess these are locked down rightly. And the company located in Watsonville is NOT Silicon Valley. I lived 6 years in Silicon Valley and Watsonville is a lot nicer and is mostly farming. Elecraft can draw from Silicon Valley resources if it needs to and have a happier lifestyle in Watsonville. I get this. i have NO plans to drop $4,500 on ANY new amateur radio transceiver. It is more fun to fix, learn and build.
