I love your Tolsta. When I do stripes, I always do a faux side seam. Which is a pearlstitch on both the sides. It's fantastic to hide the jog and to weave in ends. It's also easier to carry up the yarn. Love your podcast.🎉

My goal is still to knit a Ranunculus- you have so many lovely ones. This year, for sure. I just finished my Corran Cardigan, found buttons in my button stash, so on they go and blocking to do. Still lots of time to wear it this summer knit. I am starting my second Lento. I loved making the first one, but it ended up with less positive ease than I like (still learning my perfect numbers), so my eldest daughter has seconded it and is loving it. This one will be grey instead of black, so easier on my old eyes to knit. All those interesting patterns and yarns you shared have again expanded my wish list of knits and yarns. Lol! I am just finishing my first HO for the Nordic make along as I watched your podcast today- the Lotus Lake socks by Anniinina Juitti -the lacework was so fun and challenging to do, but is so lovely. Glad your difficult month is over and hope you feel more rested as the summer goes on and that your mum regains some of her mobility.

Today was the first time I watched, watched all the older ones first. Enjoyed it very much. Having trouble finding you on Raverly. Love the look Lacey pattern you have on. Beautiful country Canada, I grew up in Michigan USA but took a lot of trips to Places in Canada. I now live in Florida USA. Miss the cold because of the heavy sweaters. But have adjusted some patterns from worsted to fingering. Love the Scandinavian patterns. Just require more repeats.

Hi Selma. I am so glad that your arm is healing. You are a great knitter. I like to knit, also. I am working on a few projects, and the main project is a garter knit blanket for my 18 year old granddaughter who is going next month to a university; and the yarn is Rios in two colors in Lavanda and white and in alternate stripes. I am about 40” along with 187 stitches, and I need 25” more. Take Care.😊

Wishing you a belated Happy Birthday! Another great episode; thank you! I am hoping to make another Ranunculus in a summer yarn, like linen or whatever pops out of my stash. I also want to make a Tolsta tee. So many wonderful knits! As I was viewing, I was knitting on the Rota sleeveless top. I am using Sandnes Garn Line, and, so far, after a false start, I am enjoying the process. I was given some of the stitch stopper things for my birthday, and I love them. I usually don’t go for gimmicks, but these are fun and add a little bit of whimsy to my knitting. I hope that your mom’s strength returns; she is very fortunate to have you to champion for her. Cheers, Dee

You just have the best taste in music of all knitting vlogs/podcasts ☺ (Even the footage of concerts or buskers you capture on your trips always is something where I think "yup, Selma stops and listens to the same things I would have stopped for"... Sorry, just had to mention that, can't seem to shake my job's perspective even when off work for summer - I usually sit in some kind of orchestra pit and try to make my viola sound not too nasty for the better part of the day, though!) Good to see your hand coming back around, and love your version of the Tolsta! So classy! Thinking of you and keeping you and your mum in my heart. My own mum is a cancer survivor during 2020/21, and I know what months of hospitalized isolation can do to a person's physical and mental health... With your put-togetherness, I really feel that your mum has a force to be reckoned with on her side. I just hope that you can feel and accept when you have to be gentle with yourself and let others share the weight! All the best, Kari (from the lovely grey Baltic Sea coast in Germany)

Looks like you have knitting well into 2024 all planned! Sorry to hear about the issues with your mum. We had similar issues with my dear aunt who passed in her sleep last July at 99. Our hospital staff here in NS was stretched beyond belief yet they were compassionate and caring. Only when we got her back to the assisted living (enhanced care) were we able to get most of her "back" but had to stay on top of everything all the time. Yes, emotionally draining which is tiring. That's part of being in the sandwich generation. Hope things settle a bit for her and your family. Gorgeous summer Ranunculus!!!

Your new lavender Ranunculus looks so beautiful on you Selma 😍 I made the Deschain last year and omitted the sleeves as well as the lace on the back. In hindisght I do not recommend omitting the lace on the back as this has caused the back to ride up shorter than the front. Sounds like the past month or so has been difficult for us both. I started laughing when you held up the Contrasts book because I have it sitting in my lap while watching this episode, knitting the Alku Cardigan of all things! I am obsessed with this book; all the patterns are fabulous. A beautiful episode Selma, thank you for sharing your makings and inspirations!

Selma, try a nude or skin tone camisole under your lavender ranunculus , I think you will find skin tone ( which for you may be a pale pink) won’t show up as much. So enjoy all your lovely knits.🇺🇸😊

Love your Rannunculus and I appreciate all your pattern research for summer tops. So sorry life has been a challenge recently but so pleased to hear your mum is out of the hospital. Unfortunately hospitals are not the best places for elderly people. I do understand what you are going through with your mum and wish you strength and patience as you try and get the care she deserves.

Hi Selma, Sorry about your mother's troubles. It's always hard to see them suffer. Mine ended up with a perforated appendix (she's 93) but came out of the operation like a trouper. Still, it was a shock. And we must be on the same wavelength! I missed your last podcast, but I also started a Tolsta Tee (striped, also, and it's almost finished) and finished a Ranunculus in the same colour as yours, except in Cotton/bamboo mix. No split hem, though. 😄 Glad to see you're out of the cast.

Selma, you love your mum so much that you will ALWAYS do the right thing in taking care of her so don’t exhaust yourself by unnecessarily questioning your actions. From experience I know the tangle of emotions which will be like when the cat gets in your yarn bag! When it’s precious yarn you sit quietly and gently undo the tangle, maybe make a few snips here and there, a few rejoins, but eventually you figure it out. Take time for yourself and keep doing the best thing you can do for your mum and that is to love her with all your heart, the “system” can’t take that from either of you x

Here's a suggestion for the hank of lovely brown yarn from Finland that you are so fond of. You could knit a rectangular piece of fabric, felt it, then add snaps at the four corners, and you'd have another flat basket like the one you featured in this video.

I’ve made a Ranunculus fitted, one very oversized, and after seeing yours I think I’m going to make one with more open and long like a beach cover up or as a dress. I love Yumiko Alexander’s open designs. Her yarn to me is more of a thicker fingering or in between worsted. I’ve made Woven Shadows, River and one other. Indiana Jones and the Disney Haunted House are my want to see.
