Hello Selma, congratulations on reaching 20+ thousand - and of course you will continue to grow! Wow that Dust of Snow wrap is so beautiful and YES to all the colors worn together - it's all lovely! And YES everyone should get to know Sarah over at FiberTrek - she's amazing. We're so fortunate in Chicago to have so many artists and arts organizations in and around the city - along with a good number of LYS'. One has an in-house hand-dyed yarn label - RMR -- this is a lovely yarn and the 3 sisters named it after their mother. Thank you for your relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable podcast 🙌🏾

Congratulations Selma for the first 20k followers! ..and thank you for the giveaway! Really thrilled to discover your love for dancing. As a part of a disco generation myself I am a truly dance lover (love it more than knitting!)- practicing latino dances, salsa, argentine tango through these years and lately west coast swing (something totally new in Croatia). I say: keep on enjoying yourself with belly dance and all the dance nights you will attend! 🥂💐💃

Hi Selma.I'm not surprised you have over 20K subscribers. I've been watching your podcasts for a few years and have learned so much (as well as bought many of the patterns you've knit!). I love your authenticity. I'm always in awe of your beautiful knits and colour choices. As for designers I'm very inspired by Kaffe Fasset and Marie Wallin. As well as a knitter I dabble in garment sewing and quilting. Both designers appeal to my knitting and quilting interests.

Congrats on the 20k! As for makers near me, there are far too many in the Ottawa area (Wabi Sabi is my LYS too!) to just pick one. So I'll say that the many members of my thursday night knit group are deserving of a shout out. Among them are knitters, crocheters, sewists, potters, artists, illustrators, embroiderers, and makers of all stripes.

Congrats on the 20K. Where has the time gone? I recently moved back to the Austin Texas area, to oversee the care of my elder mother, so I haven't had time to find my yarny community. As far as local makers or artists, I have known of this special place for most of my life and their products were probably my first teething rings. I frequent it when I visit my mother and sometimes buy some to take home with me for a meal or two. Billie's BBQ (pronounced Bar B Que) is 30 miles east of Austin, Texas. Mr. Billy passed away a few years back but his family has been doing an incredible job of keeping the family trade, and I would swear that Mr. Billy is still back there tending the pits, as succulent slabs of ribs, brisket, chicken and sausage are being tended on the smokey coals. I love your podcast, and I'm thankful for each one.

Huge congratulations on reaching this milestone! I recently bought one of Patricia's buckets, and it might be my favourite because it holds so much, and is so transportable. So I guess I'm saying I would definitely promote Patricia's business, I live in London, Ontario. But I really want to mention a beautiful yarn dyer in my home town, Debbie of The Loving Path. She has a website, and has the most gorgeous, squishiest yarn! She only has a few bases, but that's because she dyes the yarn in the kitchen if her tiny cottage style home in the heart of London, and has only so much storage space. I always love catching her at the nearby fibre fairs, and she has an annual open house, where the customer population grows larger every year!

I'm in Brisbane Queensland Australia and I'm not famous but I design cross stitch patterns 😀. A famous Queenslander is Kate Miller-Heidke a singer songwriter born in Gladstone Queensland. I used to love my mum's marshmallow slice. She used to cook a basic plain vanilla cake recipe and back it in a shallow baking dish then she would spread some strawberry jam then pour on pink marshmallow and add sprinkles. My fav version of hers was when she would add pale green marshmallow with peppermint flavour added to it and then swirl dark chocolate on top.

Bonjour Selma, Thank you again for your lovely knitcast and congratulations on your 20k subscribers milestone. I just watched you in #76 and #77 and what a treat! I'm sitting at the kitchen table, knitting and enjoying all the knitting podcast I can watch as my basement and second floor stairs are being redone. I can't go anywhere for the week as I have a very competent, very busy woodworker in the house. Soooo....I knit and I watch KZread. What a great excuse and justification for my addictions! I laughed when I heard you talk about the feeding regimen of Yoda! I have two black cats, they are brothers and my two sons named them Zig and Zag. They also get soft food in the morning and evening and all the kibbles they want during the day. Right now, they are not happy campers, because of the noise in the house, so they keep to outside where I have moved their kibbles bowls. In answer to your very à propos prompt, I have a yarn dyer that I particularly appreciate and she lives right here in Laval. Her name is Geneviève and she is the genius behind Colorista. It's funny that you mentioned your intention of making a Vertices Unite with some of your stashed yarns, because I made one using exclusively Colorista yarns and it's one of my favorite shawl, ever! Unfortunately, as with the woman behind Les arts textiles du Témiscouata, I've heard that Geneviève has announced her retirement from her craft. On a happier note, Andrée, from Entre soeurs et laine is still dying yarn and it is simply gorgeous! Just like with craft beers, Québec has been a very fertile ground for yarn dyers and unfortunately, I have only two hands and 24 hours in a day. I keep two or three of those for sleep but I have a very long queue in my Ravelry and if I want to go through all of them, I better get knitting again! I want to make sure you know that your efforts, your thoughts, and your projects, be them FO's, WIP's or lessons learned, are precious and I'm grateful that you take the time to share them with the world. We are listening and we appreciate them....and you! Keep on keeping on!

She is a local to me dyer in the Lower Mainland of BC who does a beautiful range of yarns, mostly non-superwash, and she is also an expert dyer of spinning fibre. Her booth is my first stop at local knitting shows because even though I have many of her skeins, braids and batts in my collection already she is always coming up with something new and enticing. She is also on youtube and I can confirm that she really is that sweet in person.

This is my second time watching this episode. I look forward to the day when I have enough scraps of the same weights to make a scrappy item. That sweater of yours is amazing!!! I also love the color of the intended knit dress, Selma! Thinner knits are a challenge for me as well. Love, Love, Love your many projects and appreciate the time that you put into your video visits with us. Thanks for your very pleasant chats about this and that. I always look forward to seeing you online! PS Thanks for introducing me to Awesome Granny bags!

I find knitting so relaxing. Sewing, on the other hand, fills me with anxiety - even just thinking about it! My favorite famous artist from my area is my granddaughter, Violet Sunshine. She's only famous in our family, but she is amazing! She's wildly curious about everything and has keen observational skills. And she's only 10!

Selma.. always a pleasure to watch, and I love ❤ the nature walks, bike rides, snowshoeing, cabin/lake visits, train rides, etc. A designer that I find interesting isn’t local to me, but she’s from Haliburton, so Canadian. It’s Kim McBrien Evans of Indigodragonfly Studio and designs. Her colour sense of her dyed yarns, to her asymmetrical designs is inspiring. She also is a leader in size inclusivity, and offers several classes for fit, no matter your body shape.

I just found out about the artist, Marie Françoise Gilot. She has 2 children with Picasso and has lived an interesting life. I love your podcast and find myself listening to it while I knit on my projects. Thank you for providing hours of company.

What a lovely visit! I so enjoy sitting with you, listening to you talk about your knitting, adventures and travels. You really are a good friend. Thank you for being so generous with your time. I’m from Pittsburgh and am especially intrigued by one of our very own artists, Andy Warhol. We have a remarkable Warhol Museum in downtown Pittsburgh that is spectacular.

Congratulations on 20k- what an accomplishment! I would like to give a shoutout to Nicole (and her dog Russet) who have “the world’s smallest little yarn shop” in Langford (just outside Victoria BC). She is a knitter, teacher, knitwear designer and business owner. Her shop is The Spinnacle Yarns

I wish I knew a designer in my area (San Diego, California, USA). My favorite designers come from halfway across the world; I especially love Suvi Sumola's designs. I have to say that you have been a great inspiration to me, Selma; because of you, I will probably try doing stranded colorwork this year because I love your Noux so much!

An amazing maker from Utah is Kristin Drysdale of @scandiwork. She does amazing colorwork designs. I have her book. Shes so very talented! Selma! I've been sewing for many years. While your cute pattern was beginner friendly, your fabric choice was not. Even experienced sewers may struggle with a fine knit like that. Especially at a neckline. Don't give up! Sewing can be so fun and gratifying!! I LOVE your pink hat. SO MUCH! Congratulations on 20k followers. I never miss an episode. Always very inspiring.

Hi Selma! I am just across the river from you in the Pontiac! Ferme Mouflons has icelandic sheep and they sell their yarn at different markets as well as their wonderful soaps and hair care bars! The Alpaca of Willow Lane also sell the yarn from their alpaca and they are so kind and generous with their tours of their farm. Two of many great gems just across the river from you :)

Hi Selma, My maker is not a fiber artist, but he is an artist and a maker: Reid McLachlan, and he lives in the Gatineau Hills. He is an amazing painter and a canoe builder. I have two of his paintings and they both bring me joy. Your makes are all lovely. There seems to be a crochet trend amongst knitting podcasters these days. Having started as a crocheter, I've always seen them as separate crafts but it looks like more and more people are having fun with it. I've swerved into spinning with a drop spindle and have been obsessed with it for the last month and a half. It's amazingly meditative. Enjoy the milder weather!

I have been getting to know Gabriela Dudas who is Pineview Designs Knitting Club. A wonderful knitter, teacher and business owner inspiring and aiding knitters who live in York region, Ontario.

Your knitting is always stunning and speaks to me. I am currently crocheting a large granny square with scraps of fingering held double. I am enjoying it so much, especially when I get to the bits of yarn hand dyed by Rachel who is On The Round. She is located in Maine and her yarn is just wonderful. She is my go to hand dyer and has a great place on Facebook posting lots of her yarn and makes.

This is a great prompt! My maker is Catherine from The Small Bird Workshop. She's on Vancouver Island. Not only is she a knitter, spinner, and yarn dyer, she curates fibre from all over Canada, with an emphasis on sourcing local, and is a fantastic promotor of Canadian sheep and mills.
