Thank you so much for making this, the American sessions are my favorite ones. I love listening to the outtakes from these sessions. I enjoy the outtakes more then the polished masters, mainly because Elvis is in top form and his voice is excellent. I even read at one of these sessions he had a cold, and still sounded good! With all the great songs recorded by Elvis and many other legends, I could never understand why they would tear that building down. Love how they bumped Neil Diamond, read somewhere that Neil was perfectly ok with it! If you get a chance please find more pictures of the studio from the back too, i love the then and now comparisons you do. Again thanks for all your work on these videos.

SpaGuy, wonderful you are showing videos of historic places associated with Elvis, each means very much. The studio was not a beautiful one, but the beautiful music recorded by Elvis and other artists, and historical. I love the recordings of Elvis,' "Kentucky Rain" and "Supious Minds." I have heard, Lisa Marie's favorite song her father recorded is "In the Ghetto." I love the songs "Raindrops Falling On My Head" and "Sweet Caroline," did not know recorded there and in Tennessee. It is a shame the historical places torn down but definitely a historical marker should be there.

dennydeckerful I read his book and he seemed like a humble guy, didn’t take credit for much just talked about his friendship with Elvis. A very detailed story is told in the introduction/prologue of his book where he describes a discussion that was had at the Graceland dinner table when he supposedly convinced Elvis that American Sound Studios would be the perfect place for him to go to record new, better songs. Who am I to say that George is a liar? I just read the book.

I will add, I have not been to Memphis in a long time. A former co-worker and her two daughters and I did in the 1970s. We could only go to Elvis' Graceland gate then. I have pics, do not know if Elvis was home. I am glad we did, his passing in 1977. I hope to go back some day, visit Graceland, Humes High School (still call it), where the Presleys lived, the first home Elvis bought, maybe where the studio was located, and other places you have mentioned and in the future.

Hi, I really enjoy your KZread vids on Elvis... if possible I'd like to give you a challenge... you covered American Sound Studios where Elvis did most of his 1969 recordings... 1969 for me is when elvis was at his best! Vocally and performance!! Challenge: Two days after elvis' death in '77 a tv station paid tribute to elvis' 1969 return to Vegas... unlike 'that's the way it is' where it was several takes put together, this concert was start to finish wearing a two piece white suit with dash to the side... I had the album of this concert named "elvis in person " for some reason that concert has never been repeated! A few years ago I had elvis pianist Glen Harden do a show with us and I mentioned this to him, he said it's possible it could be lost in archives but he himself didn't remember as he came to play with elvis a year later.... I would be so greatful if you would research this.. there has to be something on it!! It's the only period I liked elvis in and it is the actual concert I first seen elvis as a performer outside his movies and it just blew me away!! Please see what you can do!! Keep going with the videos they are great!!!

Elvis wanted so badly to record Dolly's "I Will Always Love You", but Dolly wouldnt give them any of the publishing. So theres no telling how many iconic songs Parker deprived us the opportunity of hearing Elvis perform. Darn Carny!!! 😡

There's a fantastic story about Elvis at the time he was recording at American Sound. Elvis was recording during afternoon and during the day Elvis's great idol Roy Hamilton was recording his last songs. Elvis asked permission if he could watch Roy recording. They met and Elvis gave him a song called "Angelica". You can hear the song and watch the photos here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pKSamJaKepSrkag.html Spa Guy congratulations for your amazing research work!

in a book about these recordings at American sound, Elvis was so impress with the musicians, he ask them if they would be interested in backing him out in Vegas, Colonel Parker upset with how he had lost control of Elvis during these sessions, gave them such a low ball figure on purpose, knowing they would decline

So i drove by and stopped to take a couple pics. If you havent done it already, I thought of another good place for you to film the location of. That would be where Crown Electric was. I dont know where it was, and was wonderimg how far it was from Humes? Thanks again for making these videos bid. I enjoy them so much. If you ever want some company on a trip to Memphis to do some exploring, I sure would like to go with you to see these places. Elvis heard about Chip Moman at Sound Studios from George Klein just after the 68 special at a meal with Tom Diskin et al. Moman stood up to the Colonel who wanted a cut of writers royalties.... but with Elvis' agreement Moman got his way... Elvis never recorded there again because of issues with Colonel and Moman's studio.

I misspelled, "Suspicious Minds."
I read George Klein's book about Elvis and apparently he was the one who convinced Elvis to go to American Sound Studios.

dennydeckerful I read his book and he seemed like a humble guy, didn’t take credit for much just talked about his friendship with Elvis.
Another great video Spaguy!
Thank you its amazing
Thanks for the Footage J Jerry Moman

Spa Guy I love watching your videos on Elvis they are true . I want to think you for taking your time to do them for us the Elvis Fans ... Thanks again. Dottie
Thank you again I learned alot
So, LOL, is this where we're supposed to start arguing about "that ain't Elvis"? Great job, Spa Guy. I love the music from those sessions. I wish Elvis had been able to continue getting music like that, but it wasn't to be. Thanks a bunch!

Not bad your covers of Elvis songs. 😁 I saw the holladay’s sisters in France in 1974 , with a french rock singer in 1974 ( the Jordanaires too) Thanks 🙏
All of this was going ON around me in Memphis .........and I didn't know it.hahahaha
It`s a damn shame that they destroyed this studio.. Elvis recorded some of his greatest hits in this studio..
spaguy you are the best, keep the information coming👍
Elvis wanted so badly to record Dolly's "I Will Always Love You", but Dolly wouldnt give them any of the publishing. So theres no telling how many iconic songs Parker deprived us the opportunity of hearing Elvis perform. Darn Carny!!! 😡

This is true.. The only way these got cut was Elvis simply went around the system and cut them without The Colonel approving.. Glad he did..

Dolly, understandably, wasn't about to give up half of the publishing and that turned out to be a great move on her part. She made out big when Whitney Houston recorded it.
Another great video. Very informative.
Great Video 🎶
There's a fantastic story about Elvis at the time he was recording at American Sound. Elvis was recording during afternoon and during the day Elvis's great idol Roy Hamilton was recording his last songs. Elvis asked permission if he could watch Roy recording. They met and Elvis gave him a song called "Angelica". You can hear the song and watch the photos here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pKSamJaKepSrkag.html Spa Guy congratulations for your amazing research work!
I always enjoy your videos! :)
in a book about these recordings at American sound, Elvis was so impress with the musicians, he ask them if they would be interested in backing him out in Vegas, Colonel Parker upset with how he had lost control of Elvis during these sessions, gave them such a low ball figure on purpose, knowing they would decline
the greatest thing ever is to see what happened in that spot a long time ago. wish that the people and places could stay the same.......
Wow spa guy u r sooooo very good with alllll your info 🎤( Keep up the Grrrreat Wrk xxx from Uk 🇬🇧

I don't mean to be picayune...I love all your videos and watch them religiously here in LA
I dig the ray bans. 😎 I need to find them
My doctor is in the old Crosstown Sears building, and i had to go see him Monday. When i left, i thought i would type in Humes and see how far it was away. It was only 1 mile. I'm only about 30 miles from Jackson (Home of the One and Only Hillbilly Cat, Mr. Carl Perkins), and could meet up with you there. I always look forward to your videos bud. Have a good one, and thanks again!

Great video hate seeing them old buildings gone. How about crown electric!!
How about a video on O K Houck Piano Co. in Memphis. Elvis bought some of his early guitars from that store.

You are good
He just meant to much to me I wish everything could have been preserved. Oh well sadly it wasn’t
That's a shame they tore that down for a dollar store. That is crazy. Them 4 GREAT songs recorded there. Just CRAZY!!!!! I see they gave daily tours..wonder why it didn't work out. Probably too far away maybe? Well just think if it wasn't for Elvis them songs wouldn't be around by Elvis. Dead ???? We will probably never know. Thanks for the info, interesting.
Sing it Spa Guy 🙂
