Who else but the Spa Guy brings this much passion to tell the story of Elvis Presley? He will knock on any door, and go anywhere to tell this story. I LOVE this video because it's filled the humanity and insecurity of a young person who first summons the will to reach out for their dream. And even more so, the tremendous gift of being believed in. Would Elvis have ever made a record without Ed Leake pressing him to go to Memphis Recording Studio, and even accompanying him and loaning him the money to make the record? There is no joy like beginning. THANK YOU Spa Guy for this great story about dreams, friendship and the gift of being Believed in!

What I don't understand is why Graceland/ EPE would sale the recording. Are they that hard up for money ?! I think it should of stayed at Graceland as part of Elvis' history and legacy. Have a blessed day. Tighten up.

Didn't know these facts at all! I have a CD album set called, I think, Elvis Presley's Greatest Hits that I bought in about 1991, and I believe "My Happiness" is on it! I'll have to find them. I had no idea that they were released so late, I thought that Elvis had it released when he was a young man. Blows my mind a little. And "That's When Your Heartaches Begin" is one of my favorites by him, I have many! I have heard the original to that song also but I don't believe that I have it. But the history details are very interesting, it allows a much more complete picture to be painted about his life and career, thank you!

Another interesting thing that I found out a little later in life was the Christmas album from I think the early 70s, which I grew up on and we played for many years, had the picture of him in his blue jacket with the vertical white stripes, I thought for years that it was a snow ski jacket and that he was on a snowy mountain somewhere in Tennessee.

Thank You Laura, When I started finding these stories not to be true I was baffled.. There is a widely accepted and told narrative that is in many books and even still told by people who were there and most of it is not true.. I often wonder if the Colonel created the narrative to be part of the Elvis Mystique to make it more like a fairytale..

She says he knew what he was doing. And ODed on purpose. I still don’t think he did anything that night planned. I think Elvis had medical issues that day. But in desperation to get rest he grabbed that stuff he was allergic to. He was so nervous cause he had his tour coming up. He couldn’t sleep maybe having vowel issues. God rest his soul!

Mindblowing. I'm guessing you're right and Elvis wouldn't have thought those recordings were up to much. Cutting that record with 2 sides would have been the only way he had of finding out what he sounded like. Singing is one thing listening to yourself is another. You learn all kinds of things listening to yourself. Things you like things you can improve on. Elvis was still learning and what you hear is the potential on those recordings.

Very cool. Intense info and research. Love it. This has nothing to do with your video but just wondering every time they show the videos of Elvis and Priscilla getting married and the press conference after, they always dub music over it and you never get to hear what was actually said (meaning the audio of them saying their vows and their responces to the press conference afterward).. so I'm wondering, Has it ever been released the actual audio of those videos? If so, where can I find that? And Have you ever heard it?

As a musician myself i can tell you that we are the harshest critics of ourselves. Courage of two months to do that song. Self doubt abounds, even for a young Elvis. I agree 100%. And i bet that is why the recording stayed with his friend. I always thought he was a truck driver. I tell you what.. the investigative skills are second to none!

God job and thanks mate! Yeah and that "Who do you sound like"? I hate that question. It is code for "Boy, who you trying to copy" ..Elvis don't stand in no ones shadow. That is why he is the king. Young Elvis or later. F

So cool. I saw some very rare photos of Elvis on KZread that belonged to the late Sonny West from Hidden spotlight treasures, I could not believe those didn't go to Graceland or Lisa even?

Billy, love your approach to your videos, and I believe you are doing a lot of important preservation of history before it is gone, so thank you for that. Just wanted to add, that on a soundboard of his Vegas comeback (not sure which date) Elvis discusses his career, and mentions making his first recording but never says it was for his mother, but for his "own personal use," so I think the media has possibly created the idea that his motivation to do his first record was to give it to his mother. Thank you again, keep up your work, its importance will grow in time.

He actually said in an early interview that his mother had it and they wore the grooves off of it.. But it was all made up of course.. I believe Sam created the story..

Billy, one other thing, your videos not only document history but you take us into Elvis' mind at (any) particular time, for instance, the video where you recreate Elvis' possible route he would take on his first motorcycle after he had gotten rich. I felt like I was in Elvis mind thinking about getting an even nicer home (than Autobahn) like an Estate like the many homes he would pass on his route practicing on his motorcycle. Your videos are special in that way which tells me you are the one meant to do this.

Sorry to bother you again Sir.....but I think it would be fantastic if you were to do something on the time Elvis met the Beatles....conflicting stories and very much a mystery.......I just know you would uncover information, discuss details, match pictures etc etc.....fascinating topic and perfect subject matter......anyways you do your thing and thank you
