This was great and very informative. Such an impressive list of songs on these albums. I'm so glad Elvis listened to Marty and made a change. I love listening to you talk about this stuff. I also like how it looks like you're in studio with the lights.Great job on this Rich, thanks. Here's a semi short side story from me. So, my husband listens to a local sports show (Felger and Mazz) which is broadcast on radio and tv. This sports show also does what they call a live on air show on Facebook. On this show was Felger and his assistant, Murray. My husband was listening to their Facebook show earlier in the week and these two guys on the show were discussing music with regards to relevant/influential musicians etc. Long story short, someone had sent in Elvis as a suggestion. These two guys then started dismissing Elvis, and saying he was a thief and what he did he took from black musicians. Again, they called him a thief. I could hear the conversation from the next room and yelled "What are they saying about Elvis?"😡 Well, let's just say my husband had to listen to me go on a long rant (yes, he's heard me talk about this before) 🤣 about how I'm so tired of this ignorant and dismissive broad statement about Elvis being a thief. I was planning on at least emailing these guys and telling them to do some research and stop spreading lies and misinformation. I'm getting so tired of this narrative being spread. People who know nothing try to discredit Elvis and it's so wrong. These guys should stick to talking about sports. It really gets me steamed and I blow my stack.😡 I know you understand and thanks for listening. Again, great video.👍

@@elvistory I think all the improvements you added to your video is just awesome; very nice touches Rich! I had to watch this video again as I find it so interesting...it was a fabulous time for Elvis starting with the 68 Special and then recording these 2 albums. Marty was a true friend doing everything he could to help Elvis get back on top giving him an opportunity to record live with the musicians. Thank you!!! 🎶💞🎶

Reggie Young played some fantastic riffs and licks on those sessions, including the tasty acoustic on In the Ghetto.

Absolutely!! One of the "Memphis Boys".It's funny how about 5 years before that session with Elvis in 69,Reggie was a member of The Bill Black combo.I liked Reggie's playing also on Suspicious Minds. Thanks for watching!!!

@melodymakermark Fun fact - Reggie used Scotty Moores beige guitar for Dusty's son of a preacher man and also used it on Suspicious minds.

I wish he had tried again and recorded there again. He put out several big hits from this album. But I get why he couldn’t go back after the problems from the Colonel and Chips. ❤

I agree Jeri.It definitely was a very good experience musically for him but like you said there was alot of headbutting going on there so maybe that had something to do with why he didn't go back.It could've been also that he wanted to go back there again but maybe someone else may have been recording at the time he wanted or needed to.I know for sure the first time he recorded there Chips delayed Neal Diamond's sessions so Elvis could record.I do believe though he would have liked to go back there because he and Chips worked very well together.Thank you so much for watching Jeri!!!!
