I used to love hearing this song when we rode in the car, down the old country road I lived on. My older adopted sister Liz was driving our Ford Country Squire station wagon, she was 19, and I was 9yrs.old. (1975) I used to stare at her alot, and watch her drive. I admired her, and wanted to be like her when I grew up. This song played on the radio, as she made driving a car look easy and effortless. We didn't have much to worry or stress about in the seventies.

Next night, went the last night of the week long celebration of the closing of the Filmore West, July 4,1971. By 1976, I had "been thru about a million girls". Back in Texas, I met a hot girl at a night club. Got her number and called her the next day. First date I threw out my entire "little black book"! Dated for a year and got married on 7/7/77. That was 44 years ago. This has always been "OUR SONG". Just listened to it on Pandora a few minutes ago.

Elvin (the one in the denim vest and plaid shirt) wrote this for his then wife Jenny. They had a daughter together named Selina. They later parted ways. Both Jenny and Selina were later murdered by a brutal murderous mini cult called the Children of Thunder along with Jenny's boyfriend and a senior couple. A lot of people thought that the singer Mickey was Elvin. Great song with a sad history tied to it.

@@E.A.D.GGroove-tw4xvYeah, I love this song from the past, and I always like watching this video. And I agree with the above comment! I'm sorry to hear about what happened to Elvin Bishop's ex-wife and daughter! My own daughter is involved in an online chat every day, and in some ways this chat has control of her mind, somewhat cult-like. The leader is a young man from LA, and he is good looking and charming, and he has a way of manipulating everybody, and living in their heads rent-free! He has such control of all the members, that they all, (including my daughter), feel obligated to be present each day, and if they can't, or don't show up, then he makes them feel obligated to let him or others know why. I keep telling her that this sounds like a type of cult, and that she'll have to be de-programmed to get free of this!!

That's scary. Being a teen in the 70s I knew a few kids who got involved in various cults. They just got sucked in and brainwashed. It's even easier nowadays what with the Internet. Scary stuff. I hope your daughter is okay.

In 1973 a bunch of headed to Naniamo to catch his concert, the plane was late so and show cancelled, ticket returns. Headed to a Cabaret on Front Street, not long after Elvin & the group gave us the best show. Memories just retired back & now seeing my 1st boyfriends from 72, he found me on FB. ❤

I agree Sandra. When this was a hit, I was dating a young lady in Jacksonville NC, I was stationed at Camp LeJeune, NC. Well she broke up with me and I was heartbroken. After that I did NOT fall in love UNTIL a Blind Date on Leap Year Evening 29 Feb 80. We fell in love and on 21 Mar 21, we will be celebrating our 40th Anniversary. Almost unheard of for Baby Boomers. Most of my friends have been married 3, 4, 5 times. Stay safe and Semper Fi from Charleston, West Virginia.

After first hearing this song in 1976, not long after moving to Germany, I always thought Elvin Bishop sang it. Here it is, March 11, 2023 and I not only find out Micky Thomas sang it, but that he is the singer for Jefferson Airplane/Starship n Starship...I mean like what the freak? 🤯

Didn't know until recently that it wasn't Elvin singing this great song. He wrote it and plays guitar. Even more shocking was finding out in the middle eighties, the group Chicago, after Peter Cetera left, was actually talking to the singer of this song to possibly come and join the group!
