Chorus:
Many months have passed us by
(I´m gonna miss you)
I´m gonna miss you, I can´t lie
(I´m gonna miss you)
I´ve got ties, and so do you
I just think this is the thing to do
Maybe you´ll meet, you´ll meet another guy
Understand me, won´t you try, try, try, try, try, try, try
Let´s just kiss and say goodbye (Goodbye)

In 1976 I was a 12 year old kid living on an Army base in Bamberg Germany. There was this black kid named Kurt Thomas and his friends that were older than me, that turned me onto The Manhattans and this song.....I thought it was the greatest song ever or at least one of them!! I taught myself to sing it and it saved this middle eastern American when ever I was in a jam with 'being in the wrong neighborhood' etc....the black dudes loved and still love this song too! If I was in jail etc, all I had to do was sing and other guys would ask me to sing other songs! But other than the Chanters in my church {I'm Eastern Orthodox}, it was this song [among others] that started my musical path in life....In other words, today I play blues harp and I sing because of my introduction to the bluesy songs Kurt introduced to me! Another great bluesy song from this period that I remember well, was called 'Misty Blue' by Dorothy Moore, but you know that already, right?!!😉

It's so cool we all have memories with this song. One of my favorites. I was in middle school, didn't quite get this song till years later...a little too good. But now as a mature woman watching this, only great memories, but I see in the lead singer's eyes, face, every facial crevice says he's lived this song. Beautiful. And LOVE Misty Blue!🥰❣👍🏼

So many comments from this year, glad to see people can still find great music like this ❤
"‘Kiss and Say Goodbye’ by The Manhattans is a timeless masterpiece. The perfect blend of a smooth, poignant melody with deeply emotional lyrics creates an unforgettable musical experience. The vocal performance is simply sublime, full of soul and sincerity, capturing the pain and beauty of farewell perfectly. Every note and every word is delivered with such passion that it's impossible not to be moved. The harmony between band members is exceptional, and the production of the song enhances every detail, creating a rich and immersive atmosphere. This song is a true testament to The Manhattans' talent and artistry. A classic that continues to touch hearts throughout the decades." Here's a good reason to study a foreign language!!!

The dear aged 77 Ronald T Myles of 1977 and shortly before or after needs to share some of those memories with the rest of us who are unfortunate enough not to have experienced those times ... he needs to come from that 'deeper-and-higher-place' ... of what was going on back then in those times ... he needs to deliver a 'history lesson' in a way that will only be appreciated.

Who are you? Why aren't we friends?
Lyrics This has got to be the saddest day of my life I called you here today for a bit of bad news I won't be able to see you anymore Because of my obligations, and the ties that you have We've been meeting here everyday And since this is our last day together I wanna hold you just one more time When you turn and walk away, don't look back I wanna remember you just like this Let's just kiss and say goodbye I had to meet you here today There's just so many things to say Please don't stop me till I'm through This is something I hate to do We've been meeting here so long I guess what we done, oh, was wrong Please darlin', don't you cry Let's just kiss and say goodbye (goodbye) Many months have passed us by (I'm gonna miss you) I'm gonna miss you, I can't lie (I'm gonna miss you) I've got ties, and so do you I just think this is the thing to do It's gonna hurt me, I can't lie Maybe you'll meet, you'll meet another guy Understand me, won't you try, try, try, try, try, try, try? Let's just kiss and say goodbye (goodbye) I'm gonna miss you, I can't lie (I'm gonna miss you) Understand me, won't you try? (I'm gonna miss you) It's gonna hurt me, I can't lie (I'm gonna miss you) Take my hankerchief, wipe your eyes (I'm gonna miss you) Maybe you'll find, you'll find another guy (I'm gonna miss you) Let's kiss and say goodbye, pretty baby (I'm gonna miss you) Please, don't you cry Understand me, won't you try? ❤😮JUST ONE OF THE BEST GROUPS!
I played this song back in 2011 when my birth mom passed away because when I was a baby she played this song, this song had a special effect too me after mom passed away. I’m glad that she is in a peaceful place now
April 2022, this literally brought tears to my eyes. My dear mother loved this song. Next month will be one year since she passed away. I'll forever treasure this song.

I wonder who had the privilege of experiencing the 70s/80s, where they had the best musical phase of all history, thank God I was born in 1967. I respect those who came after these decades, but forgive me, this generation of today needs to know these artists who composed songs that marked history forever. From this generation, the best performers, composers, musicians and producers stood out. Today we are living in the digital age where the deficiencies of an original recording are corrected by editing software, we have more synthesized material than human. It remains to be hoped that today's compositions return to the style of vintage songs, otherwise we will only be doing an MP3 re-reading of old songs.

I am so grateful to have been born when I was. Being a child in the 70s was an absolute treasure. These LEGENDARY groups left the world with not only beautiful music but wonderful memories associated with it. Sometimes it's hard for me to listen to these songs, or look thru the photo album books, as a feeling of nostalgia comes over me. Although many family members have passed on, I will always have BEAUTIFUL memories of being a little girl during the 70s. AWESOME CHILDHOOD MEMORIES.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

That was a wonderful journey, beautiful solos too, so magically woven together. Years has past but it still feels like it's the very first time I am hearing the song. It's nice to meet you. If you don't mind I would love us to be friends. I understand that we don't know each Other before now but one thing I believe is that it takes only a minute to accept friendship and that's why I have asked us to accept my request of friendship. It would be an honor, I'm looking forward to a good friendship between us. May I ask where you are from?

Oh man, does this song ever bring back memories. And the tears flow just as freely now, all these years later as they did back then. This song can really tug at the old heart strings. Isn't it funny how we can love something so sad? But I did. This was one of my favorites back in the day, and I haven't forgotten a single note. Much love and mad respect to you all. Thank you for hitting me deep. When a song can cut to the bone like this one, you know it's a timeless hit.❤❤❤😭😭😭🤟
