Must have read a dozen comments about the "Air Force Ranger" comment I made. I was thinking of our own Swedish Air Force Rangers, "flygbasjägare", who are considered a specialist force. Naturally, translating it to "Air Force Rangers" and thinking the US Army had something similar was a mistake. Not a big deal ya'll!

US Army Rangers ARE a thing, but our AIR FORCE does not. US army has quite a few special forces, Rangers, (the elite of the elite) Delta force, etc. But our Air Force usually focuses on either indirect fighting like JTAC's (who call in airstrikes and attach themselves to rangers/SEALs/Delta Force) and para-rescue (combat medics who fight to who they need to rescue, wounded fighters or downed pilots usually, and fight their way out).

its very realistic to what would happen IRL if Syrians tried to assault a position like this, though they would have air support, and the US would have definitely had some jets.

​@@steves578 Similar thing happened IRL in 2018 in eastern Syria, when syrian government troops and some russian mercenaries tried to attack oil fields defended by kurdish and american troops. US airforce killed hundreds of men.

Spoiler: US army will win. Why? Cos such outdated army as Syrian cant effectively attack technologically superior and entrenched force through open ground. Do you really think that it will be interesting to see another batch of infantry and old tanks killed?

​@@brandonhughes4571 Overwhelming numbers doesnt help since the invention of machine gun. It would help only if it will be, for example, US company vs Syrian division, but game doesnt support such scale and also its too fantastic-Syrian army is relatively small IRL.

the machineguns should work in the trenches and behind walls even though it doesn't look like they really would. its just because the animations aren't super detailed

This was alright, didn’t get “desperate” at any point really. He even said “this was meant to be hard on us”. The deck was so stacked against the attackers it felt like the Americans were barely in danger. Especially with the massive air support. I can’t even imagine the casualties they had just from the beginning.

Video Suggestion: I know I put this in your last combat mission video but I'm going to post this one last time in case you didn't see it... Afganistan, 2013 Morale is high as a group of Rangers 30 strong and single Air Force JTAC team are on a regular patrol through the mountains. With only 2 weeks until they return home from deployment the envy for a cold beer on the beach with their wives and kids is looming in the back of their minds. As the day draws to noon an ANA recon drone overflying the position of the American soldiers discovers a heart stopping sight: a massive force of insurgents at least 300 strong is lying in ambush awaiting the American patrol less than 2.5 km from their current position. As the Officers overseeing the Recon flight radio the team from their main base in Kabul, shots ring out... clouding the radio waves as the joint force of ANA and US army officers listen in despair to the SNAFU the Rangers are stuck in. Ground support is 10 miles out and have no chance at getting to the Rangers in time. Only hope, prayer, and the sound of All-American air support will fix the situation they are in. Knowing the units at his disposal, the Commanding Officer in Kabul authorizes the JTAC teams use of an Army National Guard Attack Helicopter squadron consisting of AH-64D's Apache's and OH-58 Kiowa warriors located at a FOB less than 14 miles out. Unfortunately for the team, the Helo's aren't airborne yet and will need at least 25 minutes to get there so until they arrive the troops are on their own. Challenge conditions: your forces only consists of a platoon of at most 30 men and 1 JTAC team. they must be supported by maximum amount of Apaches the game will allow and maximum of 2 Kiowas. The troops should have HIGH morale and relatively fit and experienced due to their deployment being close to up. By the time you spawn in, it has been 15 minutes since the Helo's have gotten airborne so you MUST WAIT 10 MINUTES before using them. The enemy only consists of foot soldiers and 1 Technical so they shouldn't be able to run you over relatively quickly. That said, they obviously know you're outnumbered and will push in to finish you off before help arrives. Will the Taliban Fighters overrun and slaughter the Americans in the name of Allah? Or will the might of the US army rain a 30mm hell upon the insurgents? Only Diplex decides if he is man enough to do such a scenario!!! :)

@@Euan_Miller43 the map he used with the British army is exactly the kind of terrain that makes up the majority of the Afghani mountains. Not to mention, Afganistan has lowland deserts EXACTLY like Syria does. Id take a stroll though google earth over Afghanistan If I was you.

I have a all vehicle super showdown for the 40K mod. it would mean a lot to me 40k battle vids are really hard to find and I really love the vehicles

I think this is a cool way to experiment with the Combat Mission Engine, you are doing things that no one else does with this engine. Sure you can go and see someone play this the tactical way. But this has definitely got the Diplex flair to it

Can you do more like this, this was EPIC

My suggestion is, you should make a last stand. So 2 squads of Navy SEALs were recently attacked by insurgents. They quickly flee to a compound and defend for their life till HQ can send a convoy to pick them up

Could you do a tutorial on how to set up a custom battle? I am a little confused with it right now but would love to start setting some up. I love your Combat Force videos. I just bought the game and have been loving it, I am currently playing through the British campaign, learning as I go. It's a really great game. :)

Cant understand why Diplex enjoys such setups so much. For me the game is interesting when it has some challenge, and such missions obviously have no challenge. Much more entertaining would be other way around-trying to beat technologically superior and more professional army. For the same reason i never understood why Diplex liked those "superfortress" type videos, where bunch of AT guns just continuously killed a herd of tanks. Just IMHO.

Can you make a variant of this attack around dusk , where you can see the tracers. Also enemy armor are divided on 3 side of the frontal arc of the defenders and not concentrated not at the center as this one. very nice battle simulation.

I still wanna see a Modern Day Fury battle, with a single M1 Platoon in a Wadi taking on a force of insurgents with technicles and RPG teams.

Us army combined armed assault(tanks apcs and choppers and artillery and more) elite please vs German army combined armed assault elite (same as the us army) fighting with allies (UK and Canada) for control of a city with lots of street battles and snipers plus mg teams in every possible position of overwatch with the allies being reinforcements both sides have a base for resupply and a last stand. Your goal is to capture the other teams base to control the city

JTAC should be within earshot of the CO, not hunkered down inside the building, if the CO is in the trench, JTAC should be there with him. JTAC in situations like this are a CO's lifeline, JTAC brings the rain and thunder but only on the CO's orders. JTAC should also have good visibility preferably a 360 degree field of view so he can see the aircraft coming in for their runs in danger close situations. Just a tip for future, I know it is just a game but realistic limitations can be fun. Then again sod being the CO in that trench with that gun going off over my head haha!

My suggestion is you put your PC hardware in the description just so those if us interested have a reference point for graphics. Also, try this again with less air support. Maybe none.

If your going to have teams on a flat roof with no cover give them some, sand bags or hesco’s for cover. Vehicle cover should hide the vehicle leaving ample visibility for the gunner, specially for a dug in last stand.

Diplex I know this is entirely unrelated and you probably won't care but I just want to let you know I'm recreating the swedish empire in call of war historical mode it will be hard it will be tough Germany is already eyeing me up as is Britain but I will win Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to enjoy this video now.

Those ACUs though. They blended better with the blue deployment area I guess.

IRL: 02.04.2010: -German Fallschirmjägerbataillion 373 from Seedorf, Germany, was send on regular patrol, recon and IED-disarmeing -About 13:00 they got traped 35+km away from FOB & cut off by supply and reinf. while being ambushed by 30 - 40 enemy fighters and heavy support fire -Only availeble support at this stage were 2 UAV drones, Type Luna and Type KZO, reinf. inbound, but not untill night same day -US-Airforce observeing but no direct firesupport bc. of possible frindly fire -2 men wounded within the first few seconds of the ambush, one more got hit deadly -14:50, almost 2h constand firefight, while despratly trying to disengage the ambush, one of the 3 (MG version) Dingos got hit by a IED, entire crew badly wounded, 2 of them also deadly wounded - a second force of around 40 insurgents attack the german unit, 4 more soldiers were wounded - MEDIVAC via US Black-Hawks within a Hot landig-zone for the wounded - 21:50, after almost 8h constant firefight and retreat, they managed to reach the FOB -25 000 shots were fired that day, 3 out of the 11 wounded died later on ! This was the FIRST BATTLE for the Fallschirmjägerbataillion 373 EVER cut of from supply, amonition, reinf. and being outnumbered at least 2 1/2: 1 ! Rest in Peace: Stabsgefreiter Robert Hartert (25 Jahre) Hauptfeldwebel Nils Bruns (35 Jahre) Hauptgefreiter Martin Augustyniak (28 Jahre) Danke für euren Dienst! @@lightbenderga2017 more than even isn't overwhelming by definition. AI need air support too and arty like US forces IRL do then you can call that overwhelming.

You never attack for 100 % and never defend for 100 % it is always a combination.
