The problem I see here is that you focus waaaaay too much on a certain area while completely forgetting about other units, instead of pushing with all units you push with just a group that ends up getting casualties

That's where using the 'wego' turn system would be easier I think - the game's 'default' playstyle is for you to issue orders, then the Tactical AI executes them in 1 minute turns, but both sides at once. Gives you much more space to think.

@@arrenk3301 Yes, playing real time in this game is quite difficult if you want to manage many troops; too much micromanagement. Usually I can't deal with more than a platoon size attack at same time.

A way to mitigate micromanagement issues in strategy games is actually concentrating all or majority of your forces in to a smaller frontage, and group them up in to larger task groups. So you micromanage less, but you can always argue that loses some of the finer control you may otherwise have. My general rule is to only have 1 or 2 points of attack. More than that and you won't be able to keep up with both sides.

There's other games with different themes like the Russo-Ukrainian war, world war 2, and even the Soviet-Afghan war

"You guys are in really armored vehicles!" >BTR-60 Lmao bruh they only got 9mm of welded steel on a specific part of the frontal armor. 7.62mm can penetrate the vehicle under 100 meters. Poor lads had plenty of reason to be spooked.

This game looks so freaking cool I wonder if there's mods that can do like a World War II one or a or maybe a futuristic one man so many ideas can't wait for future videos of this game

Well done. We all play with a different style. I think attacking with lower morale units vs. potentially elite defenders requires the caution you used here. The clock is a resource, so having 3.5 min left was a good use of time as well.

RISS Recon, Isolate, Secure, Seize. Recon means also study the terrain. Isolate can be done by various means. Smoke or an Artillery attack to enable you to capture ground of your chosing.If you don't know deny it to the enemy. Means are as far as your ideas. From a handgrenade to a 155 mm shell. Here to secure the houses can be done by artillery to isolate from the downtown area.

You should use the multiple unit selection, I think it’s cntrl plus mouse click and the box drag unit select. Also the whole platoon select by double clicking commander. Also need to use more hot keys. Great fun to watch though

This game makes one appreciate Drones and the Air Force. I don't imagine the Canadians would have let you leave the starting zone let alone occupy buildings.

Alright, in my opinion, good job on prioritizing the high ground, thats all that i saw was good. you sacrificed/put soldiers at unnecessary risk when moving up those 2 man teams and not using the bmps as cover when advancing, cover is cover no matter what, small arms fire will shred infantry that are in the open, also you should use smoke as a concealent, not as cover, you should do well to learn the difference of cover vs concealment, a lesson well taught in arma 3, And, be a bit more aggressive with your main battle tanks, but dont forget to support them with the ATGMs on those BMPs, the other vics like the BTRs and BMPs ATGMs should be supporting infantry, while the MBTs and BMPs should focus on anti-armour, also as you already know, information is very important, but like with the snipers, should be stealthfully obtained, just because your a middle eastern faction dosent mean you should play as one, play smart, use tactics, and win with flags held high My attack would have been like stated previously, would have been started with 2 man teams sneaking around with whatever mode makes them crawl and not engage(havent played the game), and reconed the enemy armor, then i would arrange my MBTs to counter, then i would have set up a armoured push with the tanks leading the formation, albeit a slow push, still a push. Then i would have let the infantry mive foward and clear the buildings and let the heavy armour stay behind with the btrs moving behind the infantry, and then once the town was clear, id push up the MBTs and taken care of the leopards, while still keeping momentum But ill be honest you were Ok, minus the gripes of mine, im no military genius so anyone who disagrees or has anything to add please do so, i love discussing tactics and war stuff

Treating the wounded does not reduce casualties and does not raise morale, all buddy aid can do is take the weapons and ammunition that are left on the body.

'Minimal casualties'

You forgot the first platoon! That irritated me o much when you could have sent that down the middle to clear the mosque area. It was a otherwise great battle. You need to pan around the entire map every once in awhile so you don't just forget a entire mechanized platoon.

Does this game support multiplayer and if not are they planning to impletend that?

You should have your teams leapfrog one another going building to building

Bruh you need to coordinate your attacks. Moving up a couple squads and BMPs at a time is just gonna get them slaughtered. You move orders are also really sluggish. I don’t know if that’s because of the system or not but it definitely doesn’t help

You go to a squad and go the admin (a) Panel and tell them to split as needed.

The worst tactics shown in the greatest game. Left flank: tank spam, center: merely 2 BTRs, right flank: BMP spam. No flank attacks, no pincer movement, no tank+bmp+btr groups. This is how they lost fights.

Jesus! Push your forces up together! Leapfrog. Bmp command trucks up the center!? Tanks up with no infantry!? Meanwhile you still have infantry sitting at the back of the map!? Aaaargggg! All your infantry should have been up near the town wall, before any armour was committed to the main town.

I love RTS games and I own tons of them. I mostly play WARGAME and Men of War, sometimes Company of Heroes and some older RTS games like Command and Conquer or Age of Empires and even Star Wars RTS games and many more. Now I've never played a Combat mission game ever but honestly...I don't like how it looks. The graphics are okay not bad but damn I don't like that HUD or how the units are moved etc. It seems kinda clunky.

Its not really designed for a real time mode. It has it as an option but honestly the best way to play this game is the WEGO mode. You have as long as you want to setup a long list of orders during the paused command phase. But then you click end turn and watch both sides turns playout over 60 seconds. During this time the only reactions will be from the Tac AI (Every unit gets it and may react differently) so you can do nothing but watch as your worst blunder gets whole platoons wiped out or you pull off a textbook ambush wiping out an armoured company.

@@BigBoss-tn6fn Its turn based in the way that you make your orders (Ie I want this squad to split into a Base of Fire team and assault team, then I want the assault team to move to this building then breach) Where you queue up 60 seconds worth of actions for each element under your command. Then you press play, it then goes through 60 secs of real time action where all your choices are played out and you get to see how badly or brilliantly your strategy has worked. Ofc you can play real time but you loose out on the main draw of SF2. For a better idea go watch a vet play it like "Usually Hapless" or someone along those lines. Do you research before buying this game, you either love the complex nature of SF2 or it just overwhelms you, very little in-between.

A game like this would be much better implemented with a turn base system such as older games made from Talonsoft (East front, rising sun etc.). Would take the micro of a god with certain engagements to come out on top.

14 British casualties in a non war time low intensity conflict would be a great loss for the government, in Syria of all places. No way they could sell that to the British people. Any number greater than 4 would be a tough sell, politically. "where is the bloody air force?"

Those are probably the weakest NATO units in the game-upgraded Leopards 1 and IFVs with weak armor and mostly just with autocannon, without ATGMs, also no Javelins for infantry, so it was more or less fair fight.

If the Syrians and NATO forces ever directly clashed against each other, the Syrians would join the CSTO. That means World War III.

this game is set in 2008, when military cooperation between Syria and Russia wasn't as fledged out as it is today. Before the civil war, Russia didn't really have a major incentive to defend Syria. So it probably wouldn't mean World War III.

Dude I was embarrassed watching you play this. You said in the video your tactual ability! You have absolutely not tactical ability. You sent your command soft vehicle up the middle and wanted to know why they kept pulling back. It's because at least the AI could see the danger. Dude even Stevie Wonder could of seen the danger!!! if that was a realistic portrayal of Canadians based on weapons and tactics then its the worst portrayal I have ever seen. 1 we dont have tow equipped lavs, 2. each infantry section should have 2 machine guns 1 or 2 m203 grenade launchers and the rest c7's each company should have 4 to 6 c6 machine guns and 2 mortars and 2 carl gustavs that can kill m1a2 abram2 tanks from 400 meters, each section should also have at least 2-4 m72 rocket launchers. Canadians are experts in urban warfare and the 3 block fighting strategy. Why those guys were way in the back I have no idea each building should of been occupied and enemy syrian units would of needed 3 to one odds to take just one building. On non scripted exercises against Americans I have seen an infantry under strength brigade take out the tenth mountain division. Our snipers should be way more effective out to 3km's and do we not have 155mm guns supporting these guys lol
