And now Mundi is there from Puerto Rico and already friends with Tarra and Bo after Mundi had been alone for 35 years at a zoo. Watching the 3 of them on the EleCam on EAI's KZread channel is addictive! Seeing elephants go about their day--grazing, swimming, and of course sleeping (oftentimes while standing up) is wonderful since we can watch and learn them without intruding in their lives like at zoos/circuses. Carol Buckley has built an elephant paradise in southern Georgia.

This lady and her friends are doing a great service for the planet. Elephants in Tennessee, Florida and Georgia, not performing , but actually living their lives. She had me when she spoke of trust and gaining their trust and vice versa. I'm always worried for the planet and it's nonhuman inhabitants , plants and insects. I still worry but this lady is a beacon of hope for all the critters , plants and insects. They all had a place before humans arrived and maybe now they still will.

Elephant's are my favorite animal on earth. And I agree with the opinion of not letting a reporter's hour interview effect elephant's lives forever. I'd also like to thank Carol and ppl like her for dedicating their lives in saving animal's of all kind. May Carol and ppl like her always remain healthy & well.

I didn't really know you guys were in this situation. I remember Tara visiting dog's grave everyday would you broke my heart. I believe it would be best if the elephants have the least contact with humans. And I didn't realize that you used her in the circus.

I have loved them all my life and have met many. I have a collection of elephants items in my home that I’m running out of room. I am so glad to know that someone else cares so much for these majestic animals. Keep up the beautiful work you are doing we need more like you. You are truly a special and inspiration to all of us.

What a beautiful story Sharon. I remember in the 80s when they were they called it culling, it was really just killing elephants because they were too many of them. Now there are so few that they know might not survive. But again, thank you so much for doing this story.

Thanks for sharing this magnificent video! I'm eighty and remember my first visit to a zoo and I was horrified that animals were kept in cages and it greatly saddened me, and still does. We have so much to learn from animals, if only we would. I'm a Vietnam vet and thirty year Army veteran and got to see much of the world and it appears we universally tend to treat animals horribly. Best of luck to all of us!

Personally I believe that Tarra was so settled at the sanctuary in Tennessee and was a friend and herd mate to all over many many years. She lost all that just because a human wanted her, the same human who had her doing circus tricks for some 20 yrs btw with all the fear based training that goes with it. Elephants are so forgiving, and stoic, sometimes too much so for their own good. I sincerely hope that Tarra isn’t missing her old herd mates too much.

There were problems with how Carol treated some of the employees. Eventually she was asked to leave. My heart went out to Tara when Carol went to court & got Tara back. Unfortunately Carol was thinking of herself & not Tara. Tara had friends these last 11 yrs, she " knew " her home. Where her favorite grass grew, her tree to scratch on & the sounds her friends made . I'm shocked to see Carol in the pastures With the elephants!! Carol KNOWS from experience and the Death of a worker in Tenn that ALL contact with elephants should be from behind sturdy fencing!!! Honestly, I don't think I would trust her fencing if any elephant was having a bad day!! Elephants very quickly learn how to put a foot up or an ear to a metal fencing with certain cut outs just for the ability to take blood, have their feet taken care of or being able to do a trunk wash to test for TB. Also Carol wasn't wearing a face mask...elephants can & do catch TB & they have a form of Herpes which unfortunately a lot of babies have died from. In other words who knows what they can catch from us or vice versa. I understand that Carol loves Tara and that is sad. It's just not enough for Tara to lose her family & for Carol to create a sanctuary that is NOT as safe as TN, or Paws in CA or elephant sanctuary in Brazil.

@@debbiec2419 Tarra was bonded with her elephant family at TES and that for that reason is where she belongs. Imagine being uprooted from your home of 26 years that was created with you in mind? Thank you for sharing. How nice to take so much time to care for animals. Years ago I decided to stop eating animals and became an ethical whole food vegan. Although many humans "love" their dogs and cats, we also eat cows, pigs, and chickens without much consideration for their life and their sufffering. Although many humans love elephants and giraffe's, all animals want to live and not die at the hands of humans. Please consider switching to a whole food vegan lifestyle. For the animals, environment, and your health.
