Elephants arrive at White Oak Conservation in Florida
The first herd of Asian elephants - including 12 female elephants, ranging from 8 to 38 years old - has arrived at White Oak Conservation, a refuge for rare species in Yulee, Fla. The elephants that previously traveled with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey will be joined by up to 20 more former circus elephants as soon as additional areas are completed at White Oak. Elephants are family oriented and watching the elephants form families in freedom means that the people behind this gave their hearts, their brains, and their muscle for the freedom of these intelligent and majestic elephants.

Bless you Myra. I was my Mom's constant caregiver. I was blessed she didn't have dementia. I lost my oldest Son suddenly and Mom got very sick 3 months later. I literally moved home for 4 years to be her everything. I know God was carrying me because I don't remember the 1st year without my Son. I can only remember the deep pain. Please try to be good to yourself anyway you can. I love to watch live cams of eagles and such. The American Bald Eagle Association has several live cams you can watch. There is also a man that plays piano for the Elephants. I love to watch them swaying to the piano. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. You will never regret what you are doing. It is good to see any animal in a better environment, safe and free to roam. These are endangered and it is good that there are sanctuaries. Thank you to all concerned. I would be proud too. You have offered them a better life.
This is my home. I lived a few miles from here. I use to pass it everyday on my way to work to pick up trash on Fernandina Beach. You hear so many rumors at one time they said they were shutting it down. I guess they were just adding a golf course. Great to know it's still operational.
My favorite animal ever! This is such a wonderful story and hopefully a happy freedom for these magnificent babies. God Bless the people responsible for making this happen.

They were transported here from another smaller place. They might have been thinking on the road that they are going back to the circus. But now, if they are intelligent enough, they are probably thinking what is this crazy species that abused them for years and then decided to put them into this santuary.
You guys are awesome. They look so happy.
These people did a great job be proud
My favorite animal. For the most part they r gentle and have a family.bond that I wish I had. Would love to pet one
Very good great video enjoyable to see this asian herd start a new life ,great new future!!!
There is also a sanctuary for Elephants at a location in central Tennessee. They have been taking elephants from captivity, including from circuses for years now..... giving them a place to live in peace and allow them to heal. The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee (below): www.elephants.com/
That final shot, rising above the low cloud layer...priceless. Made it look like a mythical land down below...a magical kingdom for the ellies!
We never Hurd of this place before. We hope they are good to the elephants 🐘💜💗

Exactly 🧐🧐 they should really consider their reintroduction, as well as horses, lions, camels and cheetahs, if they would add those animals into that habitat as well as some deer, pronghorn, elk and bison it would be a complete ecosystem
and the people that are taking all the credit, should thanks those that paid for it

Most circuses have been shut down for quite a while. Although I am not defending wild animals being used for entertainment, circuses were NOT all abusive to their animals. That would be quite contrary to their objective...you need healthy animals to perform to generate income. What changed was the perception of what confining and training wild animals did to their mental well being. Eventually the overwhelming evidence swayed the owners, times changed. If there are any small private circus ventures they are not going to expand and will be dismantled by negative publicity. What I wish people would turn their indignation to is the woefully out if step big game hunting for trophy kills. It is an elitist rich white mans pasttime that is literally past its time. Selling the hunting rights to kill endangered elephants ( & other animals) is abhorrent. The past president relaxed laws making trophy killing easy, he has 2 sons who are avid killers and are well known for promoting the killing under the guise of conservation. Look up their pictures holding their dead kills as trophies....warning: they are graphic and sickening. Let's hear the indignation for that....not against defunct circuses. Fight to Keep the animals in the wild where they belong.
Fantastic. Enjoy sweet elephants.
Elephants are such incredibly intelligent and caring animals - I love what they have done for them. I have only been to the circus once and I wanted to vomit when the elephants and a hippo "performed" for our entertainment....

I know that people in the Circus torture this and many more animals........ just to make money. It is a shame !!!!!!
It is really great what you have undertaken, it must be exported absolutely to give back the contact to the wild nature and the freedom recovered to these elephants. Moreover, in another video, a lady veterinarian or ethologist (I don't know), underlined the fact that from now on the beauty of these magnificent creatures must be recognized in their primary state only: the wild state and that it is necessary to educate the public to consider the animals as such. God bless you

These caretakers need to see the Global Sanctuary for Elephants on Fb, founded by The Elephant Sanctuary's founders, Scot and Kat Blais 20+ years ago. It will help them understand how elephants develop relationships with new found freedom. The sadness still shows in the eyes of these abused Ringling elephants. That will change when the eles are able to make their own choices - who to be friends with, where to go, what to eat and being a pond blob.

@@lynnmccoysloan7705 These elephants are much younger than the ones at Elephant Sanctuary Brazil. The South American rescue elephants were often available for “rescue” because they had health issues. I’m happy to see ALL captive elephants get a shot at sanctuary. It’s a huge expensive undertaking but these intelligent, social creatures who were enslaved by humans deserve to return to some semblance of autonomy and herd life. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best we can do right now.

Good work to free these Asian elephants from slavery. Their natural habitat is luscious green tropical foliage, banana trees and fruit. What they get here is not ideal, as a result their condition is very different from those enjoying their natural habitat, but hopefully the Florida herds will receive the additional supplements to improve their look. I am sure they are in touch with Elephant Nature Park (ENP), Lek Chailert, world expert on Asian elephant rehabilitation, for guidance and advice. 💖🐘🐘💖

It's hard to believe that there are people on this planet that kill these wonderful animals just for their tusks. If we don't get our act together we will only succeed in destroying ourselves and if we do we will deserve it.
