I saw Mundi in Puerto Rico in 2016. The zoo was in disarray, and Mundi was so lonely that, when she saw me approach the fence (my family and I were the ONLY visitors there) she ran to me! She extended her trunk over the barrier for me to touch. It was such a magical moment, but inside I was crying because of how lonely she looked. I stayed as long as I could, and when I had to say goodbye, she followed as far as she could as if she wanted to leave too. I am so happy she is free!! ❤

What a roller coaster of emotions… tears of sadness, tears of joy! But the important thing here is where that journey finally took her, and that her last stop was her forever home, one where she found love, friends, cares, happiness and freedom! Thank you Carol, for being “the pilot” of Mundi’s final destination ✈️ 💕

Once again, thank you for this video. There will always be haters, whiners, doubters and naysayers, picking at every little detail because some think watching The National Geographic Channel makes them experts. Others think having visited Mundi at the zoo for 15 minutes back in 2002 grants them authority to give opinions. In the past three months I've come to learn all of that is okay! It's all in the past. What matters most is that Mundi is able to enjoy the rest of her life in peace and safety. Special thanks to Bo and Tarra for accepting her. We can all learn so much from their behavior.

Although aware of a contract to bring Mundi to Georgia 5 years ago, I never understood why it didn't happen. The details were sketchy and rumors were misleading. So glad to get the details and everything makes more sense now. Listening to Carol brought tears - what poor Mundi had to go through to get to Sanctuary. But seeing her arrive and her consequent brought happy tears. I have watched from her arrival and am absolutely amazed at her acclimation so quickly. Tarra & Bo not only accepting Mundi, but making friends and teaching her to be an elephant again - being part of a herd - says so much for Carol's experience and knowledge. Thank you to Carol for years of persistence, and also to those in Puerto Rico who truly loved Mundi and wanted a better life for her - be very proud of yourselves.

I used to see her at that zoo as a child and I remember seeing how lonely she was and feeling such deep sorrow for her, the only elephant on the whole island, thousands of miles away from her kind and now....she is free, for the joy her presence gave me as a child I hope in all my heart she finds joy and peace and maybe forgiveness for the cruelty that Puerto Rico subjected her to for all those years. My family constantly went to the zoo and even as a small child I remember asking why was she alone. I remember following the whole move for her and losing hope as well. Months and months passed without updates and then finally the day came and I cried so many tears of happiness. I’m in shock that they tried poisoning her. She deserves every bit of happiness. Finally where you deserve Mundi ❤

When I was a kid I used to visit that old zoo she was in and I even dreamed of being a zookeeper there when I grew up because I didn't know the reality of that place, then I grew up and realized that zoo was EXTREMELY small and negligent to it's animals and I hated it AND the government for not doing anything to care for the animals kept there. As a local child/teenager/young adult who suffered watching the decline of that zoo and the animals there and couldn't really do anything about it I THANK YOU for saving that elephant and getting him out of that shithole zoo and away from those monsters who tortured that poor creature. I freaking HATE the greedy bastards who hurt that elephant just to keep torturing it with abandon in that depressing enclosure. So many animals suffered there; the hippos, the rhinoes, the birds, the sea turtle, the big cats... I hope they got out too, they had closed the zoo and they would not speak of the health of the creatures...any news that would come out about it on tv where just speaking about how the zoo was on decline and they wanted to sell the animals and the people on tv only cared about how they did not want foreigners to buy the animals, they barely even cared about the health of those creatures. The government heavily censored the grave reality of the pressing situation at the zoo, in fact I only learned about the elephant BB gun and toxic feeding abuse from this channel! 🤦‍♀️
